we need upgrades at the guard position...bad. Mo williams shouldn't be a starting pg. he has no ability to beat anyone off the dribble and his D is horrible horrible horrible..and parker can't fight through a pick to save his life. I would have loved to flip wally's expiring for a upgrade there. Brown better get this rotation down. I understand starting jamison, but to cut hickson completely out..clueless

This is total crap. I really hate it when the defense makes guys like Nate Robinson, JJ Redick, and others look like Michael Jordan. Come on defense?!

i love when people panic, call for wholesale changes, in the middle of a game, and then the cavs turn it on and start acting like the team they are.

You should realize the Cleveland choke jobs year after year is what causes people to panic.

Leadtheway seems to pop up like a bad odor whenever the Cavs have a bad game/quarter, just to let us know how awful we are and then disappears as soon as we start doing well again. Heck of a game from Hickson though. I think he's really trying to show that he belongs on the floor despite the stacked front court. Andy had a great game too. No Shaq, no Z ... and we're going up against Perkins and Garnett with Andy/JJ as our center and we still took it to them ... on their own home court no less. I thought Jamison also showed us glimpses of what we can expect. He gives us some good scoring options. I think the key though was Mo. I hope this game kick-starts him for the rest of the year. He really started to find his groove again, and we're really going to need that if we want to win a trophy.

I got soo frustrated watching that first half that I went and did something else during the 2nd half. I come back in to it with one minute left in the 4th and we were up by 20..... what the heck happened??

So, who lost their bench spot ?
Never mind, I think I found it -- Green and Jackson assigned to Erie,....
These guys still count as slots on the active roster. They are just getting some playing time rather than wearing a suit on the bench. The only way we could assign them to Erie and free up a roster spot is to waive them first. I don't think either of them clear waivers but of the 2 we'd probably keep Green over Jackson. We have a serious logjam at the 4 and 5 and Green seems to have a lot more potential than Jackson. I'd bet on seeing him until Z signs back and then Jackson will be cut. But you never know, D-Block just dropped 34 points, 12 rebounds and 4 steals in his first D-League game tonight. He's either playing for a cavs roster spot or a spot on another team.
As far as the Celtics game goes, hopefully that will give people a reason to stop going off the deep end when we aren't playing well.

I was the opposite. I tuned in during the 3rd quarter and we were down 9 ... and then promptly rolled them. So, you're not allowed to watch games now, and I have to catch every second.

He didn't play anything other than garbage time. Hickson had a fantastic game as well as Andy, and there wasn't much reason to bring him in.

im glad we have the logjam as long as we utilize it well, we basically have options for all different teams, bangers, slashers, post guys, and a stretch guy in AJ.
Hopefully Shaq wont be out long

What boggles my mind is that Jamario Moon has gotten lost in the mix. He is a much better/more athletic defender than Parker. He may not be able to shoot the outside shot as well, but during stretches where we need some D, I would like to see him. Example last night: when Parker and others were on Ray Allen, he was shooting wide open weak side 3's and killing us. Enter Moon, and suddenly every one of those shots was contested.

...this was from last night. Shaq suffers 'significant' thumb injury vs. Celtics Feb. 25, 2010 CBSSports.com wire reports
BOSTON -- Shaquille O'Neal sustained a "significant" right thumb sprain that forced him to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers' game Thursday night against Boston.
Coach Mike Brown said O'Neal will miss the Cavs' game Friday night at Toronto.
"I don't know how long Shaq will be out," Brown said after the 108-88 victory over Boston. "He'll see the doctor and it will go from there."
Brown could not say how O'Neal was hurt, but it appeared to be when Glen Davis blocked his shot with just over seven minutes left in the first half. The Cavaliers called a timeout soon after to take O'Neal out of the game, and they later issued an injury report saying he had a "significant right thumb sprain" and would not return.
O'Neal was not available for comment after the game.
"We need him out there," Cavaliers forward LeBron James said. "We play faster without Shaq in the lineup ... but in the playoffs you can't play fast all the time. You need to establish the half-court offense. That's what he does for us."
His absence is even tougher to overcome because the Cavaliers traded backup center Zydrunas Ilgauskas to Washington before the trade deadline. Ilgauskas was waived Thursday and could re-sign with the Cavs next month.
O'Neal had six points and two rebounds before leaving.
“...Iguodala to Curry, back to Iguodala, up for the layup! Oh! Blocked by James! LeBron James with the rejection!”

I feel asleep during half time only to wake up about 3 min after the game! I looked at the score online then went to bed

Possible postgame conversation in Cavs locker room:
Mike Brown: "Boy, that escalated quickly... I mean, that really got out of hand fast"
LeBron: "It jumped up a notch"
Mike Brown: "It did, didn't it?"
Hickson: "Yeah, I stabbed a man in the heart"
Mike Brown: "I saw that. Hick(son) killed a guy. Did you throw a trident?"
Hickson: "Yeah, there were horses, and a man on fire, and I killed a guy with a trident"
Mike Brown: "Hick(son), I've been meaning to talk to you about that. You should find yourself a safehouse or a relative close by. Lay low for a while, because you're probably wanted for murder"

Heck of a game from Hickson though.
JJ was the straw that started to stir the drink last night. He came in with huge energy and the team went XBox after that. The team played so much faster w/o Shaq in there and JJ was high flying and contesting tons of shots. Game MVP to JJ. It will be interesting as to what Brown does later on in the POs. If the team's gears seem galled up, would he be willing to yank Shaq for significant playing time for JJ for a faster style of play.
The only bad about last night was that it made Charles Barkley look like a genius at half time when he said the Cavs play to slow and that they would still win the game

J/C..
Will be interesting to see how we play tonight.. Big comeback last night with a lot of emotion, moving onto the second night of a back to back and Bosh likely out..
Will we come out focused and ready to play? Or, will we sleepwalk through 3 quarters and then try and flip a switch?
Raptors are gonna want to turn this into a jump shooting contest, which won't work on tired legs..
Gotta run the offense and make their defense work..
I heart winning

depends on if it is a partial or full tear.
i think there is a little bit of silver lining though.
1. we have the depth to get through a blow like that
2. what a perfect time to give shaq rest. he comes back and we have what, another month until playoff time? his legs should be rest. and he gets a month off of taking a beating (because wow, watching him on a nightly basis for the first time, that guy gets abused more than any bballer i have ever seen including lbj)

Plus I think this means more PT for JJ and Powe, both of which I want to see play more.

i'm gonna consider it like the red sox coming up with a phantom injury and puttin pedro on the DL to gear him up for october.
and i agree. it gives time for powe.
jj? shaq in or out, jj needs to see the floor more. he has earned it.
i don't understand why the rotation is such a problem. i think it's 3 different sets.
your running team, your non running team, and your unit minus lbj (which is 2-3 sets at 3-4 min apiece)

So we can't win it without Shaq and therefore have to trade LeBron to New York,.... Their agenda is sickening,...

did anyone read bill simmons' chat this afternoon?
for one he thinks lbj goes to chicago with bosh. for one chicago would have to be able to dump captain kirk's salary after the season (only room for one max right now) and if you listened to some of bosh's comments in the last few weeks, he may have clued in that he won't be playing with lbj. not to mention vinny del negro is a horrible coach and they may be going through a coaching change anyway. i can't see it.
but he also mentioned one thing that kinda made me think.
because we didn't trade jj, there is a chance we trade him when july 1st comes around. with all these fa's, if a team decides they won't be able to keep their guy, a sign and trade can come into play. you get a 21 year old with great talent. maybe it isn't bosh, but you land someone else of value.
i think either way we are in good shape, you trade jj and get a cornerstone type piece, or you keep jj and let the kid develop.

the only way Chicago could have done it is if they traded Deng at the trade deadline for expiring....there would have been a taker.
they did not, so they cannot. noone is taking Hinrich's salary for cap space with this crop of FAs.
Bill Simmons is for entertainment purposes only. I mean he thinks if LeBron tells Ferry to trade him to a team without cap space (Dallas) that Ferry will just bend over and do it no matter what he is getting back.
---------------------
also, I thought it was you that mentioned the JJ sign-n-trade possibility during the run-up to the trade deadline when it looked like we were keeping him.

Appreciate, and sincerely respect, your thoughts. Me,..I would just be worn-out, rusted-through, broken-shingle, DONE.
The Fratello and Lucas Cavs did not have this type of problem.
