I am watching the Pro-Bowl and have noticed that a few Qbs have #9. So this made me think what are the most popular #'s for qbs and why do they wear them.

Here are just the current notable players.

#7 Losman,Gradkowski, Leinart, Volek, Vick, Leftwich, Boller, Rothlisberger

#8 Grossman, Culpepper, Shaub, Kitna, Brunell, Hasselbeck, Carr

#9 Palmer, Frye, Romo, Garrard, McNair, Brees

Around half the leagues starting QBs wear these three numbers. Is it coincidence? Or do they wear them for a reason? For example Rothlisberger chose 7 because of Elway. Who were the first big name players to wear these numbers? Anyone else know why QB's wear the number that they do?

If I recall, QBs are only allowed to use 1-19 as their number, and with 32 teams with 2-3 QBs each, that would mean theirs 64-96 players (not including receivers using them) that have to pick from a 19 number range. Your going to see alot of repeat numbers.
