http://vindy.com/news/2010/mar/01/bears-waive-former-osu-standout-orlando-pace/?newswatchBears waive former OSU standout Orlando PaceEmail Print ShareThisPublished: Mon, March 1, 2010 @ 8:58 p.m. LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — The Chicago Bears have waived former All-Pro tackle Orlando Pace after one season in which he was limited to 11 games because of injuries. The Bears also waived tight end Fontel Mines and guard Tyler Reed today. Chicago signed Pace last season as a free agent to help patch up a faulty offensive line, but the fading star didn’t provide much help. Pace was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection with the Rams and one of the best offensive tackles in the league. He was drafted No. 1 overall out of Ohio State in 1997 and went on to play in two Super Bowls with St. Louis.

I think somebody will still take a shot at him on a one year deal, but he probably won't make it through training camp.

Hmmm, anyone hear anything about a special, super secret news conference? Pace needs to retire. He's not been the same since he hurt himself just recently.
you had a good run Hank.

Bit of a sad end to a stellar career. Being a bucks fan I have a soft spot for Pace, but after seeing him play this season, its time to call it a career.

We gotta get this guy
If he comes with a time machine, I would agree.

Always loved the guy,...Buckeye,...have all of his cards, etc. Mr. Pancake. He pretty much transformed the Rams into contenders overnight. Sorry to say, absent Divine Intervention, he won't even make good training camp fodder at this point.

Played tackle meself some. Not at this level. He was a joy to watch as a Buckeye and was the Pancake Machine. Now . . . sadly, the ship has done sailed IMO. Retirement soon I hope. Has he talked about coaching or some capacity like that?

I do wonder if he'd be able to move inside and play RG or something, or perhaps flip to RT.
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.

RT--if healthy, maybe hold it down for a year 'til next year's draft? No problem with that, or the RG. Just don't think the ship has enough wind to push this sail,...as said earlier.
I'm holding out for this year's Iupati or Okung.

Being in Chicago, I got to watch him a lot and hear all the fans complaining about his play. Trust me, he's done. Great career, now ride off into the sunset.
I'll always think of Orlando Pace as the "We gotta get this guy" guy thanks to this site (well, a combo of this and the old site).
