Agent: Fraley Released by Browns

The Browns have released center Hank Fraley according to his agent who made the announcement via his Twitter account.

Fraley started 52 games in 4 seasons since being acquired from the Eagles in 2006.

Fraley was due a $500,000 roster bonus and scheduled to make 1.63 million in 2010 which was the final year of his contract.

Thanks for everything Hank!

Also if Daniella is reading this you will always be welcomed on this website even if you won't be rooting for the Browns now.

Eh, he looked good in comparison.

I wish Hank well, though. He's a gritty player and a was a great teammate. I will miss him.

I want to use a really bad word here, but I've never been thrown off the Board.

It's kinda like liking "Z."

Hank deserves to "be around."

My Board friends,...I know I'm 'dense' most of the time, but this just isn't right.

I agree it's hard not to like guys like that. You can tell they really want to give it all they got even without superstar athletic ability. Hank has been one of my faivorites, I'm sad he's gone.

Another roster spot down the drain,....

The guy was the backup Center, can play Guard, could probably in a pinch, play Tackle.

I am about to get myself thrown off,....

I liked Hank, but with new chiefs in town, you go in a different direction.

They are doing him a favor by doing this now rather than wait a few weeks or months.

Hank and family will land on their feet.

I wish them the best!

A questionable decision, but it's not like they cut Thomas. I really liked Hank and I'm sad to see him go. I hope he has a great rest of his career and - more importantly - great rest of his life!

With all the holes on this team, now there is another one for backup center/guard. Compare the rushing stats with Fraley at guard compared to Womack and Fraley is worth every bit of that contract IMO.

I really liked Hank and I will say I was hoping he'd stick around. However, he isn't getting any younger and I'm not sure we should start throwing our FO under the bus just because they released a guy.

Best of luck to him. He is the type of guy I want this whole team to be like.

My guess would be they released him to free up a spot and cash towards signing a FA or drafting a guy.

I always thought that Mack played better with Hank beside him at guard but best of the luck to the Fraley Family but as they say this is a business and sometimes unpleasant actions must be made.

Go Browns!!

What a bunch of BS! They just got rid of a guy that can play 3 positions along the line, voted team captain 2 yrs in a row, team player. Never once complained about drafting Alex Mack and was essential to helping him get acclimated in the position. This move did not make us better any way you look at it

I didn't want to say it before because of how well Hank is liked, but I've been wondering how Heckert would take to Fraley considering it was he and his regime that elected to send him packing from the Eagles to begin with.

Now we know the answer.

Personally, I would have liked to have kept Fraley around for another year. But the good news is that if they are ditching him, they clearly have a plan for upgrading the line.

This is dissapointing that they released Hank. May be the FO knows something I didn't know, but Hank did a decent job at RG toward the end of the season last year. He's able to be a backup center and backup guard. He's been a captain on the team for a long time.

May be Hank will resign with a smaller contract. I wonder if this is an option.......... But as I said, the FO might know something that we/I don't.

Either way, good bye Hank! I hope you come back if possible, and if not, you will be remembered. Great player, no problems off the field, his wife posts on the message board.

AND Hank Fraley provided my favorite hit ever, when he hit Ed Reed off that DA interception where Ed Reed got moving and then all of a sudden, without seeing it, he gets leveled by Hank Fraley who makes a move on the runner that was pretty impressive for a guy is size. If you saw the game, you remember the hit.........

Thanks Everyone, tough day.

Ya know, when we were traded here four years ago, I was bummed. We had to pick up and leave family and friends.... it was hard. But, Cleveland welcomed Hank and you all have been great to us, and to him. Being here has been a blessing to us, we have made so many friends, many of them like family.

It is so hard to say goodbye, but everything happens for a reason. We will truly miss everyone here! Its just time to move on......

Thanks for being cool with having me on your boards!

Danielle...you, Hank, and the kids take care. Thanks for hanging out with us over the years. Nobody else even wanted to stop in to say hi.

Stop in once in a while and let us know how you're doing!

Thanks, Hank!

Thanks for coming on here and being a part of our community.

And thanks to your husband (from everyone I would imagine) for his years here, he is a fan favorite, and we appreciate everything he brought to the Browns.

Good luck with the rest of your lives

Loved having hank on the team,, very dependable, hard working,, without a doubt, a blue collar/lunch bucket kinda guy. Fit this town to perfection.

But.... we always complain about us not having great players.. before I knock this move, let's see what they get to replace him.... if we upgrade, then it's a good thing..

I'll miss you hank...

Huge, Huge mistake Cleveland is not only losing a good player, but a great team mate and a even better person and family. This old fart has already shed a few tears over this one.

This is a bummer, Hank was valuable, and I personally loved his fire.
I will always remember him for being out front and hunting someone to knock on there butt during run plays. Thats a linemen. I would have kept him for his versatility but I'm guessing he feels he can still start and asked for the release. Good luck Hank, as long as the Brownies aren't playing you I'll be rooting your way.

Daniel, it was a pleasure and a treat to hear from you on this board. You'll be missed by this online community as much as the the real. Best wishes.

Hank, you & your family will always be thought of as a Cleveland Brown.

Please Tell Hank many come thru this organization, very few with the class hard work ethic as Hank did and for that, he's one of us. Please keep us up dated to where you & hank end up, and yes it will be on your feet. We will always be rooting for hank and will always be the whole Fraley family fans.

Hank football wise will land on his feet, good people always do. Let us know where he ends up, so we can start rooting for that team...well as long as it's not pitt or balt. or cinn...LOL...

Keep hunting, i know you will, keep in touch and let me know how deer season goes.....take care my friends....

The team wants to get bigger and stronger. I wouldnt be surprised if Steinbach is traded.

Hank to me is what a Browns player should be and that is why he has been so liked throughout his time here. He is a classy guy, that gives it everything he has with that team first attitude. I hate to see him go but I am glad they are doing it now. He wont be unemployed long.

Best wishes to you and your family. You will always be a Cleveland Brown to us.

I absolutely disagree. The WCO is built on the opposite..in fact Steinbach just became a better fit for the team the moment we hired Holmgren.

Let us know, and not Pittsburgh , you both know better

wow, i'm shocked to come on here tonight and find out Hank is gone. Its disappointing to hear that the FO said nothing to worry about, and then released. Thats not the way to do business.
If there is a bright side to it- maybe Hank can sign on with a contender and get the ring. Not like that was going to happen in Cleveland any time soon.

As has been said, you are always welcome here. We love you and Hank and your brood. Hank always gave everything he had despite being on some losing teams. Good things will happen for you all no matter where you find yourselves next. Good luck.

They do a lot of pulling and trapping and for some reason everyone gets it into their head that WCO means smaller and quicker but that isn't true in the least. Look at the interior line that we have seen in Seattle, Phily under Holmgren and Heckert. You guy guys like Jackson, Hutch, Shawn and Stacy Andrews.

Think Power and Mobility. Now Shanahan's WCO is zone blocking and that is guys like Steiny.

Obviously everyone loved Hank. I do, too. But, if this move brings us closer to being a contender, then
