We need to draft a good RT early in the draft. These old retreads are not working.

Agree.....Pashos is more of the same. I wish we would consider a Trent Willams in round 1 even and not have to worry about the OL for the next decade (except for OGs which are much easier to come by). I think Pashos is probably an upgrade over St. Crap (if healthy), but that speaks more about the Saint than it does about Pashos.

Only way we get Trent Williams is if we pull off an other Alex Mack style tradeback or trade up.

I like Pashos at right guard. He'd be a big upgrade there.

A RT that is a good run blocker, but has trouble with speed rushers describes 90% of RT's in the league.
Pashos, while nothing more than avg.,is better than anyone we've lined up there in the past 10 years.
Signing Pashos fills a hole, allowing the brass to go sowewhere else in the draft.
To Deepthreat,if we're going to need a guard,than go get a guard.T hell with trying to convert a tackle,that doesn't always work.

Pretty much on equal footing.
Tucker was a good run blocker, who had trouble with speed rushers.

Tucker in his prime was much better than Pashos has ever been.

And converting a right tackle to guard works quite often. Almost every half decent tackle can play guard.

With few exceptions, I doubt you get many folks to even remotely agree with that..

Ryan was a top 10 RT in the league when he was healthy.. Pashos doesn't compare...

Agreed.........BC is way overestimating Pashos ability. I do like your idea of moving him inside though. With his run blocking ability he could do well there, and you would minimize his deficiencies in the passing game........I hope that is what MH has in mind.

Oh and don't be suprised if we do draft a tackle at 7 imo. Heckert took Justice at # 10 (??) or around that knowing he would play RT. The FO we have now puts a premium on good young OTs.........not just LTs.

I don't think so,maybe undervaluing Tucker's ability some,but not that much.
Pashos can play RT.
Converting a veteran tackle to guard isn't an everyday occurence like you guys are making it out to be.
If you want a tackle, get a tackle. If you want a guard, get a guard. This patchwork mix and match method has not served the Browns well.

Justice was a 2nd rounder and I would be shocked if we went RT at 7. That just doesn't happen.

Nice signing. What I'd really like to see is Heckert swing a deal for Stacey Andrews. I'd be comfortable with our O-Line then.

All I know is if we sign Pac Man me and him are going to the "scrip" club and eating some "scrimps".

On a serious note, it seems like Pac Man has stayed out of trouble pretty well the past couple of seasons but realistically he just isnt that good of a player. He was never that great of a corner,he just was great as a returner and like was said before, someone has that spot locked down pretty tight

No but is Poteat our #2 corner? The question is,is Pac Man worth the type of money he is going to ask for? Yeah he is better than the bottom of our CB lineup, who isnt? If we sign a corner, for biug money, I want him to be a guy who will be our #2 corner forcing B Macdonald into the nickel role.

thats why i said offer him leauge minimum loaded with incintives....so many tackles, so many ints, so many sacks, and so on and so on.....make him earn his money. It would bring out the best in him I think if he actually had to earn his cash....would keep his nose clean as well.

Well sure but is he going to sign for that? Is he going to be that desparate to just take any deal thrown his way? I mean we can throw that out there to him but I doubt we would get him for that.

Not really.

Pac Man used to have a bright future but when he got that suspension, he basically lost any chance he had at being an NFL star.

Could he be a nickle back? Maybe, although I'd say it's a long shot. It'd be hard for him to go to a team and be an immediate contributor. If he couldn't do it in Dallas, he won't do it in Cleveland.

Furthermore the guy is a complete turd, and we are trying to build a turdless culture here. No way in hell would we sign Pac Man. I honestly don't know why anyone would even think we would consider it. It has ZERO chance of happening based on Jones being human pond scum......it won't happen.

Cleveland Browns sign linebacker Scott Fujita, who helped New Orleans Saints win the Super Bowl
By Tony Grossi
March 07, 2010, 4:41PM

The Cleveland Browns have signed former New Orleans Saints linebacker Scott Fujita, The Plain Dealer has learned from a source today.

Fujita, 30, was an unrestricted free agent. He started at outside linebacker the last four seasons, including last season, when the Saints won the Super Bowl. The Saints did not believe he would leave them because of his strong ties to the New Orleans community.

Fujita could be a candidate to move to the inside in the Browns 3-4 defense. Terms of the contract were not immediately known.

Troy Smith really WANTS to be a Cleveland Brown.

Sunday Special: Troy Smith wants to be a Brown

By Todd Porter

Without a doubt, Troy Smith wants to play for the Cleveland Browns. Now, however, he’s a backup quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, and as long as Joe Flacco is there, Smith will remain so.

This isn’t a question of if Smith wants to play for the Browns. It is a matter of whether or not the new regime in Cleveland wants the Glenville High School graduate. And if so, at what price?

“He would crawl from Baltimore right now to be able to play in Cleveland,” Smith’s agent Ralph Cindrich said in a phone interview. “That’s clearly where his heart is. That’s where his love is. He has a great relationship in Baltimore and with the fans as long as I don’t muck it up too much. He has a great relationship with (Baltimore General Manager) Ozzie Newsome.

“It’s just that this is where home is. In the offseason, he tells me, ‘Get me home.’ ”

Baltimore made Smith, a restricted free agent, the lowest offer possible. The Ravens tendered Smith a fifth-round offer, which means if another team signs him and Baltimore doesn’t match it, the Ravens would be entitled to a fifth-round pick from that team.

Coincidentally, the Browns traded defensive lineman Corey Williams to Detroit for a fifth-round draft pick. The Browns have four fifth-round picks.

Smith, who won a Heisman Trophy at Ohio State, is scheduled to make $1.1 million next season.

Baltimore Head Coach John Harbaugh told reporters at the NFL Combine the team would be willing to listen to offers for Smith. But the Ravens need to be realistic.

“I think Troy can play quarterback in this league as a starter,” Harbaugh said, clearly trying to drive up the asking price. “That’s why we like him as our backup, because at some point in time, we’re going to need a guy to win two, three, four games for us if Joe gets hurt.

“At the same time, we understand Troy’s desire to be a starter. If something would work out where it’s beneficial to the Ravens from our perspective and it gives him a chance to do that down the road somewhere, then we’re interested in doing that.”

Cindrich isn’t sure if the Browns are interested in Smith.

“Cleveland has been on the up and up on this thing,” Cindrich said. “I did hear from a source there may have been discussions between the Ravens and Browns.”

Cindrich has a good relationship with Browns General Manager Tom Heckert

“I go back with Tom Heckert,” Cindrich said. “I’ve known Matt Thomas (vice president football administration) since he was in Miami.

“It would be the ideal situation to see if a trade could be worked out.”

IS SMITH THE ANSWER?

Smith has little NFL experience. But I’m not betting against him. He progressed each year at Ohio State, developing into one of the best quarterbacks in the college game at the time.

To hear some of his former teammates talk about him, Smith is an impeccable leader. Guys rally around him. That’s what the Browns need in a quarterback.

I also get the feeling that Smith would wear his Cleveland Browns heart on his sleeve much the same way that Josh Cribbs does. In other words, he isn’t going to stand for being second-rate.

I THINK I THINK

Here are five things I think I think about the Browns:

• Smith will be in Cleveland for the 2010 season. Either via trade or giving up a fifth-rounder, there is enough of a fit between Smith’s playing style and Holmgren’s philosophy meshed with Head Coach Eric Mangini’s to say this is the right place.

• Smith would be a fan favorite, and the Browns need to be in the business of making their fans happy.

• If Holmgren does go after Smith, he won’t be the only new QB in town. I don’t think anyone is completely satisfied with Smith as a starter until he proves it.

• Derek Anderson’s days with the team are, literally, numbered — unless he agrees to a fat pay cut.

• Here are Cleveland’s draft picks broken down by round: one in the first, second and fourth rounds; two in the third round; four in the fifth round; and two in the sixth round. This team can get better through the draft, but I think they’re stockpiling picks for a deal, too.

Really like the Fujita signing, in my eyes it means the end of Barton in Cleveland. Also, noted OSU homersim, I wouldn't mind Troy Smith in a Cleveland uniform. Always pull for hometown guys that WANT to be here.

I don't know. That's exciting hearing guys talk like that but we heard Quinn saying the same stuff. If Holmgren thinks Smith can produce I'll be fine with it.

Ultimately, any new names other than Quinn and Anderson lifts my spirits!

Typical Schpical.. he's been playing outside and doing it for a Super Bowl winning team..

But before you respond, is Shipical a word?
