I would trade for both McNabb and Smith....deal or cut both Anderson and Quinn.....let Smith watch and learn from McNabb as I think he is a younger, but more raw version of McNabb.
I think Anderson, and hate to say it Quinn too aren't the answers....Quinn looked good in one game, but that was the Lions not hard to do against them! Other than that game he looked scared to make a mistake, scared to take a chance....

Fujita is a 3-4 ILB. He played OLB in a 4-3 but he can't do that in a 3-4. He has very little pass rushing ability.
Good signing and good day for the Browns.

Furthermore the guy is a complete turd, and we are trying to build a turdless culture here. No way in hell would we sign Pac Man. I honestly don't know why anyone would even think we would consider it. It has ZERO chance of happening based on Jones being human pond scum......it won't happen.
I think you have offended pond scum and should issue an apology to pond scum.

He played outside in a 43 team............he isn't an OLB in 34, and is much better suited for ILB.

No QB in the draft has proved anything either.
I wouldn't mind Smith on the cheap, but he's not worth anything more than a 5th to me.

Could we throw a poison pill into a reasonable contract offer for us, but not for them?

Troy is short and dosent do well under pressure. Anything reason other than the OSU homerism could anyone think he is the answer short or long term. I'd rather make a run at Carr. Not sold on him either...but more than Troy by a long shot. I'll chaulk it up homerism! A 6th rounder for him and let him be the 3rd string emergency qb. Thats as close to a homer as i can be. Sign Delhomme, cut Anderson and play ball.

It's not homerism at all. He has a strong arm and is relatively accurate. He is/was a project, but the potential is there.

Does anyone know for sure how to pronounce Fujita's name?
I know I've heard it like "foo-jee-tah", and Holmgren pronounced it like the mexican food "fah-hee-tah."
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

You bash Smith then say we should sign Delhomme? Did you see Delhome play at all last season?
I don't want Smith (as our starter) either, but Jake freaking Delhomme!

Solid signings.
Nothing flashy, no overpaying, and immediately can be plugged in to start. Nice job.

Agreed, love the fact that's he 6 foot 5...you always wanna have bigger guys up the middle to disrupt passing lanes. (if he does play ILB)

"Scott possesses tremendous size for a linebacker, and this will allow him to play inside or outside in our 3-4 defense. He has been a starter throughout his career, has been exposed to several different defensive schemes and has been successful in all of them. We all know Mangini loves guys who can play multiple positions.

A strong presence inside would help free up DQ and vice versa. Compliment each other nicely.

He at the least is a proven qb with experience and can provide depth. He didnt just forget how to play. Troy has proved he stinks under pressure and being small makes for not so great a combo. Didnt say Delhomme is my pick to start....just depth and experience. Carr would have far better chance to succeed than Troy....and i aint so sure on him.

This signing would make me believe that if someone offered DQ a contract we might allow him to walk and take the pick instead.

Troy had one bad college game, and a great career. He has skills. Delhome is awful and has zero game whatsoever.

I'm done reading your posts after this. Delhomme is garbage I can't honestelly believe your suggesting signing a 35 year old QB with injury problems. Oh yeah he's thrown 30 ints the past 2 years alone.

I am with Deep on this one, Bring in Jake. I know he had a bad year last year. Buteven as bad as he was, he was better than what we have.

I don't think that at all. I think Mangini and Ryan both love Jackson.
If Barton is kept we could have a pretty solid ILB rotation of Fujita, Jackson, Barton, Bowens, and Trusnik. And Fujita Bowens, and Trusnik all have the versatility to play outside as well.

You dont forget how to play guys. You either lose arm strength by injury or age as well as the knees. As i know he has not any of these issues. He was bad last year but he has played lights out for several years. The problems lie deeper. As a backup and depth in case of injury.....he could do that. He will somewhere.

Yes, he was just amazing with his 59.4 QB rating. You do realize he is the reason why the panthers missed the playoffs?

No he wasn't. He had 8 TD's and 18 INT's. He was sacked 23 times in 11 games. He had a 55% completion rate. He single-handedly submarined the Panthers playoff chances. All he had to do was not turn the ball over and hand the ball off to DeAngelo Williams/Jonathan Stewart or throw screen passes to Steve Smith. And he failed.
He had a good run. That run is now over.

Yep he might be the first QB I have ever seen kill a team's playoff chances by HIMSELF. If we sign Jake I will already be looking for new FO number 7....lol. The good news is we won't sniff at JD so no need for everyone to worry.
I do believe TS is going to be aquired though. No way does his agent come out and say that in the press without some sort of knowledge as to what is going on. It would alienate the Ratbirds and other potential suitors. A deal for TS is in the works I would bet.
In an ideal world we would get an experienced vet to be a bridge to TS (like McNabb), but I don't know if any of them are truly available (aka McNabb). I have a feeling your looking at a Carr/Smith tandem or maybe a Quinn/Smith tandem going into next year. I would love to get a vet like McNabb, but I just don't think the Iggles are going to trade him for anything other than our 1st rounder, and we aren't going to do that.

Saying he was bad last year is like saying the 2008 Lions won a game.
Delhomme is a worse, yes worse version of Derek Anderson. The guy is aging and has been injury prone for the past three or so years.
After his super bowl run, he's been largely awful for the rest of his career. He has heart though, I'll give you that. Absolutely no way I would choose him over Troy Smith, though.
you had a good run Hank.

I think if McNabb was available it would cost less than our 1st rounder. I think we could get him for our 2nd and Shaun Rogers. But from everything Andy Reid has said he is not available for anything.
