Plus, he's a HUGE upgrade at tightend.

Sweet... I was hoping we'd bring him in. For some reason he just never exploded like I thought he would in NE. But the tools seem to be there.
I will forever remember him chasing down Champ Bailey in the playoffs. That was just an awesome display of speed (even with Champ slowing down a little bit near the goalline).

Pats have a lot of receiving options and Watson has always done well for them. I don't think he really had the opportunity to explode and he probably wouldn't have either way.
But he is a pretty good receiving TE (very good at post routes). I never thought he could cut well enough to do the inside stuff like Winslow, but he probably can block and matched with Moore (who can do the low inside stuff) we might have a decent tandem. Back those two up with Royal/Estandia/Gaines and this position would be upgraded.

Anything that gets Royal out of town. He was my least favorite player last season. If given the choice I would keep Poteat over Royal.

Even after the Detroit game?
I was willing to buy Poteat's airline ticket out of town that Sunday afternoon.

Even after the Detroit game. Royal dropped so many passes. I also remember him getting hit in the face with a couple passes when he was wide open.

Royal is garbage. He didn't even come across as a good blocker to me when I was watching.

I would love Watson at TE. That would be nice to cross off our list and not spend a pick on. I personally thought he was under-utilized in New England but can't say I've seen enough of their games or keyed in on him to say that with great conviction. It just didn't add up. I think I've had to have had a man-crush on the guy ever since he chased down and jacked up Champ Bailey at the goal-line on that INT return. That's just classic.

Just hypothesizing...
Could chasing Watson (and potentially signing him) mean Brady Quinn stays or at least the FO is doing everything possible if we're stuck with him to put him in a situation to succeed?
Afterall, in the few games Quinn and Winslow played together, Winslow was his favorite target.
Just sayin'.

Watson is definitely no Winslow. I see Watson as an upgraded version of Steve Heiden.

I think you're reading way too far into that. We simply need a tight end.
I like Watson, but he is far from a star.

Watson is one of theMfree agents I was hoping we would sign. Hopefully he's not signed before Wednesday.

If that's all he is, then I'd be pretty happy with that as long as we give the Evan Moore kid that shined last season a fair shot at more time...

Other than filling the backup role, I'd say we don't need to draft a TE,...that kid rocked ! (I thought,...)

I would give them DA for a bag of balls.
Throw Quinn in there for a Shammy and we are good! Both guys need to go badly, I will puke if I have to watch Quinn throw Cream puffs around the field again with the accuracy of a two year old boy poddy training.

I liked Watson before I saw him chase down Champ Bailey but after seeing that I would really like to have that guy on my team just for the fact that he's proven to be willing to put forth 100% effort. He could have just as easily jogged towards the end zone and been inconspicuous but he went for it. He isn't the next Antonio Gates but he would be pretty solid here I think.

It was ruled First and Goal for Denver...
They ruled that the Game camera never allowed them conclusive enough evidence to overturn. The cameras never had a good angle...

"something fun" , if this is truly what MH said ... This to me would strike me as bringing in Troy as the starting QB, or to compete with Brady for starting QB

he didn't lie and he didn't promise anything
Go listen to the Cribbs presser on the main browns page, at the very end mary kay asked something about an announcement on Monday,, Holmgren smiled and in a tongue in cheek manner kinda made a comment like, yeah on monday..
everyone is taking it way out of context.

Ben Watson is decent.. He should HAVE been a perennial TE in this league, but sometimes he drops passes, and then also has the "injury bug."
Would love to have him, but I see him even being a backup here.
This would be perfect for me..
Keep Evan Moore, let him fight it out in camp, and let him start... Draft Tony Moeaki of Iowa late in the draft... and let him battle it out with Steve Heiden, which I'm sure he would be heiden b/c he gets injured quite a bit now.
Moore and Moeaki would be perfect...
Thinking about it though.. I would rather have Watson over Heiden.

He plays for San Diego I know, but I'm wondering what kind of a QB he is. I guess I'll have to quit being lazy and look him up myself.
Where's that scout kid....Deep? He seems to have some idea on most players. Also, C'mon Toad, your the QB genius how about a little help.
