Yeah, I'll comment if it turns out to be true.. otherwise, it's just a wives tale..

If this or his priors goes to trial, the biggest problem Ben will have is if the judge allows the priors to be revealed to the jury. The jury will have the option to think "Where there is smoke there is fire"
IF thats the case and IF the prosecution has DNA, then Ben stands a good chance of doing time.
I'd be very surprised if he did any time, $100million can buy you some pretty good lawyers.

I live near Ben's hometown of Findlay, and it's well known fact that Ben and his friends are jerks. These past two sexual assault charges have not been surprising to me...his reputation precedes him.

Ben reminds me of a guy that used to work for me years ago.., Real jerk,, wise guy, Good salesman so he made a decent buck and thought everyone owed him because of it...
I fired him.....
but that's really unfair because I really don't know ben....

The lawyer from his other case in Nevada said he'll be closely following this second one, because of something in Nevada laws where some of the allegations against him in other cases can be brought in.
Like someone else said, it'd be interesting if the jurors were given the scoop on his other cases. Sounds like it's a possibility.

If it's true, we can only hope.
The fact that this isn't the first time something like this has been accused is alarming, but it's in it's infant stages (investigation). As 017 has already mentioned "Big Ben" has a "Big Head" and I wonder if this is a case that she got rejected by Ben, embarrassed, and cried sexual assault. Anyone can make police reports and go to the ER if they have a plan. I just don't think someone can be so stupid is to get himself in the same situation multiple times. Well, he is a Steeler after all but I just don't buy it unless he is the next Tiger Woods and has a sex problem.

Ben probably has hundreds of women flocking towards him and one thing I don't understand is why he would force himself upon one woman who refused to have sex with him.

If you have a big ego, that would be the woman you would want to "conquer" the most I would think. Entitlement and being used to getting everything you want can probably cause some strange reactions when it doesn't happen.
Not saying that is what happened, but that's how I would see it if it did.

Either that or he was drunk and she didn't care who he was, she didn't want any part of him. But, because he was drunk, he didn't get the hint.

Here's what I want to know...
Why the hell was he in a college town anyway?
I mean, it's one thing if he went back to Oxford (OU alumni's note: ewwww) to go back to Miami's campus again.
This isn't like a guy who's a couple years removed from school going back to visit people he knows, Roethlisberger's been in the league since 2004. This is ridiculous.
Where there's smoke, there's fire. He may or may not be guilty of this, but he's definitely guilty of being a Grade A Dumbass and a Grade A douche.

They were ALL over him on the radio this A.M.,....one Steeler fan called in, and was saying "that's it,...need a new QB." A little abrupt, but if this thing does become true, it's lights out.

I'll give it a few days - after all, I don't think any charges have been filed yet. But, if the investigation leads to charges, how long do you think it will be before this 20 yr. college student is drug through the mud?

Authorities in Milledgeville, Ga., will hold a 4 p.m. ET press conference today to address their investigation into sexual assault allegations against Ben Roethlisberger, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Milledgeville Police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation have been looking into allegations by a 20-year-old student at Georgia College & State University that the Steelers quarterback assaulted her early Friday at a nightclub. Milledgeville Police Chief Woodrow Blue is scheduled to address reporters, the newspaper says. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/gameon/post/2010/03/roethlisberger-press-conference-today/1

She'll soon get death threats and have to drop out of school. Unfortunately, she has to decide if she's willing to turn her life upside down to bring justice upon Ben (if he in fact did something he shouldn't have).
For her, it's a no-win situation. Sad.
Why the hell is this guy in a college bar, buying shots for college-aged women, and then putting himself in situations where someone could take advantage of his fame? And then...what kind of a jerk is he to maybe have done what he's accused of. It's just bad, no matter what comes of this investigation.
If I was a Steeler fan, and thankfully I'm not, I'd be really thinking about how much I wouldn't want a guy like this being the face of the organization. Ya...rings are cool and most will look the other way.......but I'd question his place on the team (I need more info yet to really have a strong opinion).

that right there shows a lack of maturity. he frankly should have way more sense than that.
First he gets in a cycle accident (should have learned something from the winslow incident but he didn't) Then he gets jammed up with a girl out west, now this.
he's NOT thinking..

J/C. Can someone tell me what Ben ACTUALLY did?? I mean all I read is a girl going to the police stating that she was aggressively being hit on by Ben. Now a Bartender says the women/girls were all over him. So what did Ben Do?? And if did not grab the woman and just tell her off, then why all this?? (* I cannot believe I'm almost defending a steeler *)

I thought the same thing you did, they go into all this detail of the night, then say "Ben was hitting on one girl real hard" then right to the part about the girl going to the police? Nothing about what may have happened where it may have happened or when it may have happened. Just sounds strange.
We don't have to agree with each other, to respect each others opinion.

They are not releasing any significant info yet. To me that's the way it is supposed to be. Gather the facts, make a case, then indict. Funny thing is you don't hear much about the girl either. In the Vegas case, it was almost instantly they started to attack the girl.
Sounds to me like there is an actual case here, not some hearsay. She went to the hospital and was treated, so there must of been something to treat. I don't know if the guy did anything, I just know he is the type for this kind of thing. But I will wait. If he is indicted, and the commmissioner doesn't suspend him until he is cleared, I think that would be wrong. I just get this feeling that even if the charges stick, Rooney will flex his muscle, and Ben will get a slap on the wrist.

I'm not sure what the legal ramifications are,(not really sure what the charges would even be) but if convicted of some crime, aren't there league penalties a player has to live with? That's over and above the criminal penalties of course...
Just wondering!

j/c worth reading: Quote:
As we've mentioned a time or two this week, the tide of public opinion in Pittsburgh has turned dramatically against Ben Roethlisberger in the wake of a second allegation of sexual assault.
Local talk radio has featured plenty of anecdotal evidence regarding generally boorish behavior from Big Ben (we've heard a couple of stories that we possibly will be posting, once they are vetted by the PFT legal team -- i.e., me), and his defenders are becoming fewer and farther between.
Perhaps most jarring is the maiden blog voyage of long-time, old-school Pittsburgh sportscaster John Steigerwald, who spent more than two decades on KDKA-TV, who has hosted radio in the Pittsburgh area, and who currently appears on a weekly Sunday night show on WTAE-TV.
Here's what Steigerwald says about Roethlisberger: "First of all, none of this surprises me. Ben is a bad citizen. He doesn't know how to treat people and he definitely doesn't know how to handle being the quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers. In my more than 30 years of working in the Pittsburgh sports media, I have never had any player come close to generating as many unsolicited questions from fans as Roethlisberger has. They want to know why he's such a jackass. And these aren't just Steelers fans who got turned down for an autograph. It's men and women from all walks of life."
Steigerwald specifically points to a Make-A-Wish child that Roethlisberger blew off. Per Steigerwald, KDKA opted not to pursue the matter as a news story. Steigerwald later spoke to the parents, who did not want to go public on behalf of their daughter, who had cystic fibrosis.
Steigerwald's verdict? "Roethlisberger is a punk who needs to be knocked down a peg or two."
As a general matter, Pittsburgh-area sportscasters tread lightly when it comes to the Steelers, if they value access and cooperation from the organization. Steigerwald's atypical candor is a sign that, when it comes to Big Ben, the local journalists have either gotten a nod from the team to take off the gloves, or they just don't care.

Once again, that article backs up everything I've heard about Big Ben and his friends while living around the Findlay area. His sense of entitlement is at an absurd level. I thought maybe the first sexual assault claim would knock him down a few pegs and hopefully help his ego, but it seems to have done the opposite: he got off clean, and then he thought he was invincible.
The guy is an idiotic jerk...and I don't know if he can change.

He's hosed. Once the media starts coming after you and smelling blood, it's over.
Personally, I think he has a huge problem right now. Investigators and the sherriff want DNA. There is only 1 reason to request DNA, and that is because you have some DNA you want to see if it matches.
I'm hearing that the guys that were with Ben that night are distancing themselves from him, and that he's told his buddies that there was "contact" and then afterwards she "slipped, fell and hit her head". Thats the biggest crapload that exists.. It's like this.. when investigators ask a parent accused of abusing a child how the kid got the broken arm and the bruises and they say "Oh he slipped and fell in the tub or he fell down the steps"
He has a problem right now. A very big problem and the best lawyer in the southeast US may not be able to get him out of this one.. and then after this if he's found criminally liable then comes the civil lawsuit.. and then the Tahoe suit..
