A very good athlete....not over impressive with his arm but seemed to be accurate. Not over joyed at this point.

Holmgren acquires Seneca Wallace Though he's likely not the long-term answer at the quarterback position, veteran Seneca Wallace is now a member of the Browns. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Browns have struck a deal with the Seahawks for Wallace, who was drafted in 2003 when Cleveland president Mike Holmgren served as head coach in Seattle. Other terms of the deal are not yet known. The move means that one of the two top quarterback on the depth chart from 2009 -- Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson -- undoubtedly will be gone, sooner rather than later. At worst, Wallace will surely be No. 2 on the depth chart. He also provides an intriguing Wildcat option, especially with Josh Cribbs on the team. Together they could be a Ronnie Brown/Ricky Williams-type combination http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/03/08/holmgren-acquires-seneca-wallace/

For the first time since we got rid of Tim Couch, we'll have at least a mediocre QB.

Report: Browns deal for Seattle QB Seneca Wallace By Plain Dealer staff and wire reports March 08, 2010, 8:24PM AP photoSeneca Wallace has thrown for 25 touchdowns in eight years as an NFL reserve quarterback. Reports on Monday night stated that the Browns had traded for Wallace.CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Published reports by ESPN's Adam Schefter have Seattle's backup quarterback, Seneca Wallace, traded to the Browns Monday night. The terms of the trade were not immediately known, and the Browns have not announced any move yet. But there had been talk throughout the last several days that Cleveland was close to making a move to bring in a veteran NFL quarterback, potentially one who isn't currently starting. Wallace, who was coached by Browns president Mike Holmgren in Seattle, fits that description. In eight seasons as primarily the backup for Matt Hasselbeck, Wallace has completed nearly 60 percent of his passes (333-of-556) with 25 touchdowns and 14 interceptions http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2010/03/report_browns_deal_for_seattle.html

Wonder what they traded away? Hopefully not too much. Maybe a 2011 draft pick??

Sure,,
30 years old, 8 years in the league
Perennial back up
Size issues (5-11, 205lbs)
If he's a stopgap to the next real thing,, OK,, I'll be ok with it,but if this is the guy thats supposed to lead us to the promised land, we are in trouble.

I kinda agree with Daman...I was slightly more interested in signing Carr and hoping he could regain some of his college mojo. Well, I guess something fun(ny) happened today as promised .... Hopefully, this is Holmgrens third success story at the QB position!

I'll feel better about this if we only traded a fifth for him. If we traded our high fourth, I can't see how we can justify it with a guy like Delhomme available for free.

I don't think anyone said he was going to lead us to the promised land.
More than likely, he is the starter the next few years and the Browns draft a developmental QB.

I'm at a loss to explain exactly what Wallace brings to the Browns other than a veteran to take the spot of DA (probably) or Quinn when they trade or release one (or maybe both) of them.
Other than filling a roster spot this doesn't do a thing for me. If this is the "fun" that MH spoke of on Friday remind me not to invite him to any parties.......

I hope we stick with Quinn for a season. IDK about Wallace as the starter and Quinn just never got a good shot with the limited weapons around him.

Good video to see his strengths.
His weakness is that he has trouble with timing and doesn't always look off his first WR.
We'll see. I have more optimism for Seneca than some of you do, I guess. I much prefer him to Quinn, because Seneca can move the ball with both his arm and legs, Quinn can barely do it with his arm.
you had a good run Hank.

Seattle media saying that it's a 2011 draft pick.... sounds conditional .... http://blog.seattlepi.com/football/archives/197057.asp

Well with all the weapons in Cleveland he'll have tons of options past his first option....oh wait.....

He's a backup, unless BQ falters. I'm not doing cartwheels, either. Doesn't throw a lot of picks though, at least his TD-INT ratio is solid. I didn't know he was 30.... yeah I'm with Sun I'd rather David Carr.
So unless we dump Quinn, we aren't drafting a QB, I gather?

What the Browns are giving the Seahawks in the deal is not yet known. Wallace will be reunited in Cleveland with Mike Holmgren, who drafted him and helped groom him in Seattle. Wallace is familiar with Holmgren's west coast offense, which the Browns are expected to use this year. Wallace is garbage.. and will get killed in the AFC..
Troy Smith > Seneca Wallace
However, I'd rather have Wallace than Carr.

I know people are pretty bummed about this, but I don't think MH is done with the QB position.
There are any number of ways he could go at this point with Wallace as the first or second QB. I'm willing to bet that we will be picking up another QB in the draft.
Haha! And people were all disappointed about no fun new as "promised".
At the VERY least, Wallace and Cribbs on the field at the same time will be very fun to watch.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Maybe the Philly QB he wants is Vick... Seneca would be a natural back up for him.

then u would have to change the pic in ur sig...
I'm all for it though.. I'm kind of tired of having the "drop back and throw" QB... Wallace brings something different, and so would Vick...
I guess that too is why I wanted Troy Smith here.
If the Browns gave anything higher than a 5th round pick, they are idiots and overpaid for a BACKUP!

Does anybody else feel that we might be bringing in Bradford?
I have no facts or rumors to confirm my belief but just a feeling. Draft Bradford let him sit a year and let Quinn or Walace play out the year with Bradford waiting in the wings.
Not saying I want it to happen but I just have this feeling we might go that route if Bradford is available.

The pro of this deal is that there is a QB now on the roster who is comfortable with the offense this FO wants to run.
The question is at being 5 foot 11 does he have the intangibles to do so?

By Bradfords years number two, people will be questioning , "well if he was so good, why couldn't he beat out Quinn and Wallace?" Mark my words. And then we will be looking for another day one QB.. lol.
