Interesting move for the Browns. I have no idea what it entails, or what will happen from here. If he's bringing Wallace in to start, he better be ready to stick by him. There will be many, including those in the organization, that will think Quinn should start. They have reason to believe that too. Quinn has more experience at starter than Wallace. I like Wallace though, and think he's a solid QB. He has talent and has worked under Holmgren's system before. Unless they get rid of Quinn though, I see Quinn starting out the year. However, he'll be looking over his shoulders just like this year. Lets see if he can step up in his fourth year in the league. If not, Wallace has always been a solid back up.

Oh what the heck. I'm excited about this move. I don't know why. Maybe because Cleveland football is always more exciting in March and April than it is in October and November.
Wallace is a Brown. If that allows us to use the draft to fill some holes with players who can make a more immediate impact then it's a good thing. What's the worst he can do? Throw a bunch of interceptions and grind the offense to a halt? I've seen plenty of that over the last several years. If I weren't the eternal optimist I would have taken my Browns flag down by now.

Just clickin' here... I understand this move my MH. Somebody had to replace at least DA. Might as well be a guy MH knows well. However, I'm not not all that excited about it. I've seen the guy play a number of times and it wasn't very impressive. If he ends up being our starter in Week 1, we're no better (or worse) off than we were before. We'll just be trotting out a different guy with marginal talent. ::shrug:: Hopefully, the QB search continues...

I'm actually getting pretty excited for SW, you can really sense his enthusiasm. Here's a guy that has sat patiently behind a pretty good QB for many years and has continued to be a "team first" type player while performing well when given the opportunity. He's still young enough to make a name for himself in this league and the golden opportunity is waiting for him in Cleveland. Good Luck SW!! In Mike we trust.

Paolantonio said that the Seattle Seahawks have been contacting the Eagles "non-stop" regarding quarterbacks Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb. As we reported last week, the Eagles have been hearing from multiple teams regarding McNabb, but the Eagles have not yet entertained any offers.
But offers apparently will come; Paolantonio says that Seattle coach Pete Carroll wants to win right away, and in Carroll's mind that includes getting McNabb or Kolb. And Paolantonio says that he now firmly believes that McNabb will be traded by the Eagles at some point in the offseason.

Interesting. Seahawks still need an overhaul on both lines, a new rb, WRs, etc. They are far from "winning now".

not necessarily. the Cardinals have taken a pretty big hit this offseason (Warner alone is a big hit). the 49ers may or may not be ready to take the division mantle. the Rams are a couple years away at best.
if you get the OL fixed and the right QB, they have enough talent on defense to be competitive. that might be all you need in the NFC West next season.
unless you meant Superbowl as competing. they are years away from that.

I think that the team that needs McNabb the most is the Cardinals. If I were them I'd be first in line when he becomes available.

I agree. Either the Cardinals or the Vikings (if Favre does indeed retire).
But, if I was Philly and believed that I could still compete for the Superbowl either this year or next year with Kolb, then there is no way I would gift-wrap McNabb to a NFC Superbowl competing team.
And a more darkhorse candidate: If I was Denver, I would be knocking on their doot.

Yeah, I read that somewhere. It seems like he thinks he's going to start, but was very definitive about it.
We just have to wait and see.

the more i think of it, i can't see how he won't be a starter and possibly a decent one at that. this guy was a 2nd day pick who was a scrambling qb. those guys need more time to develop and especially learn to stay in the pocket. we know he can physically make the throws and i've seen him play well in spot starts. if the rost is complete with quinn, wallace, and ratliff (which i don't think it is), then i think it's clear wallace is the starter.
keep in mind, not only is this guy a holmgren guy but mangini clearly did not like quinn last season either. quinn had a short leash at the beginning of the season and then DA had a long leash before quinn took over again.

New Browns quarterback Seneca Wallace is coming to Cleveland with winning the starting job on his mind.
Wouldn't want it any other way.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4982407Sources: Browns may deal Quinn By Adam Schefter ESPN A Tough Town For QBs Derek Anderson's comments point to two things that are true in Cleveland, writes James Walker. Browns fans are frustrated. And they're often smitten with the quarterback holding the clipboard. Blog One day after the Cleveland Browns released quarterback Derek Anderson, there is mounting evidence around the league that quarterback Brady Quinn could be next. Cleveland has offered Quinn to other teams, league sources said Wednesday. Not only are the Browns looking into a deal for Quinn, but they also are investigating other quarterback options as well. The Browns are exploring the acquisition of another quarterback through trade, free agency or the draft, according to multiple league sources. These talks come at a time when Cleveland already has added former Seattle backup Seneca Wallace. Should one of these scenarios for another quarterback work out as expected, then Cleveland would have a surplus of quarterbacks, including Wallace and Brett Ratliff. That would leave little room for Quinn, a former first-round draft pick who has struggled to succeed in Cleveland.

Not sure if this has been brought up, but I was just talking to some friends about this whole situation, and one of them swears that Wallace is LEFT HANDED. If that's true, what kind of an impact could that have on a team w/ a much stronger left side of the line than right?

He's not. The highlight reel on the first page shows he's right handed.

Probably the only person that believes that is Quinn himself. I hope he gets another chance, but it's not looking that way. And if he doesn't, then that's the way it is.

I could have lived with giving Quinn one last shot, but this isn't surprising, nor does it bother me. As long as Wallace is just around until we get our real QB, hopefully next year, unless this group can pull off something big in FA or a trade this year. I am pretty certain that Quinn will make a classier exit.

I would hope so, but surely understandable that being shopped around would leave a bad taste in your mouth. I agree, Quinn won't have an Anderson moment.
Never an excuse to bash fans though. They forget, we pay ALL the bills.

considering all he was good at was talking to the media, i would hope so. then again, maybe he'd just check down and say "ask me later."

If the browns deal quinn I will be so pissed. I have a very nice BQ jersey, if he gets traded it will cost me $35-$125 to go out and get a new Browns jersey.

the lesson is to not buy a browns qb jersey. too bad my friends who followed that rule bought winslow and edwards jerseys.
if you buy a browns jersey, it'd have to be thomas, cribbs, and maybe wright if you want to maximize usage.

You need to get smart and just get a jersey with your favorite number and your name on the back. Turn over in Cleveland is so fast you hardly get to wear one with a players name.

Or go old-school. My only jersey is Kevin Mack. But this is a topic for a different thread . . . Of course this is a Seneca Wallace thread turned Brady Quinn being shopped thread. . . .

Other than Joe Thomas and Josh Cribbs, I don't think I would even consider purchasing a current player's jersey right now. Everybody else on this team is "upgrade-eligible."

j/c we gave up a conditional 2011 7th rounder, can turn to 6th rounder for wallace Quote:
CLEVELAND -- The Browns gave up a conditional seventh-round pick in 2011 for Seneca Wallace, a league source told the Plain Dealer. The pick can improve to a sixth-rounder, depending on Wallace's playing time, the source said. Wallace said on Seattle radio station 950 KJR Tuesday night that he's coming here with hopes of winning the starting job. However, the Browns might acquire another starting-caliber quarterback. They're currently shopping Brady Quinn, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Wallace started 14 games for the Seahawks in relief of Matt Hasselbeck since 2003, going 5-9. His most extensive action came in 2008, when he started eight games, throwing for 1,532 yards with 11 touchdowns and three interceptions.
Wallace (5-11, 200) was originally a fourth-round pick of the Seahawks out of Iowa State. He's currently in Cleveland undergoing his physical.

We all knew it was possible that Quinn would be gone before next season. The part that interest me the most is this... Quote:

Cleveland.com
If he does end up starting for us we got a steal. A 6th rounder is close to nothing if that player ends up starting. Especially if they end up starting at the QB position.
Good deal by us.

that's interesting. just read a charlotte article on qbs and it said that rip scherer is there so it could make sense. it also explains what DA's first visit is with the panthers. isn't jeff davidson there too, as the OC?
don't know anything about marshall other than he was tendered at the 2nd round level. says something that we might be trading a qb AND a 5th to get the guy.

He would have to sign a contract first though. Can't trade a guy who's not signed.
