we also saw flashes of greatness out of DA, yet most are convinced (me included) that he wasn't a franchise QB.
quinn had a couple good games, many more hard to watch games, and poor stats to boot. the reasons dont matter....
if he's to be saved as a player, he needs a new venue. MH just brought in a guy he knows can start if needed, anything else that comes by is gravy. quinn, is rightfully out of the equation...whether or not he gets traded.

New Browns quarterback Seneca Wallace knows that he probably won't be the only new addition to the position made by President Mike Holmgren.
"Oh, I'm pretty sure he has something up his sleeve. He's going to bring in somebody to compete. That's all good," Wallace said in an exclusive telephone call to The Plain Dealer.
Wallace spoke from a plane waiting to take him back to Seattle this afternoon.
Wallace spent a day in Cleveland, taking a physical and meeting with coach Eric Mangini and offensive coordinator Brian Daboll.
The trade to the Browns -- for a conditonal seventh-round pick in 2011 that can improve to the sixth round -- became official when he passed his physical.
Wallace didn't say he expects to be the Browns' starting quarterback in 2010, but reiterated comments he made in Seattle that he has that goal.
"I would never say I'm coming to be the starter," Wallace said. "I've got to learn the offense, feel my way around. Whatever I can do to help the team, I'm all for."
Wallace indicated that his meeting with Mangini and Daboll revealed that the Browns won't be running exactly a carbon copy of Holmgren's offense in Seattle.
"Some of the things are similar, but there are a lot of things different," he said.
Wallace, 29, started only 14 games in seven years, winning five, behind Matt Hasselbeck in Seattle. He was asked what should Browns fans expect to see from him.
"I'm going to bring a competitive nature," he said. "And obviously I use my legs to make plays. I love to play football. Whenever I step on the field -- whether I'm a quarterback, a receiver or in the Wildcat -- my goal is to make plays."
He said he hopes to return to Cleveland soon but has things to care of in Seattle. Before departing, he said, "It was a long trip but worth it."
In confirming the trade, the Browns issued a statement from General Manager Tom Heckert. "We are fortunate that we were able to acquire someone with Seneca's experience at such a key position," Heckert said. "In watching him in person and on tape, the things which stand out are his strong arm and outstanding athleticism, and that will allow us to do a lot of things with him while he is on the field.
"He played well in limited opportunities while he was with Seattle and we expect him to come in here and compete."

Assuming Schefter isn't talking just to hear himself talk (which he often does), the house-cleaning continues. Assuming SW (or a QB yet-to-be-named) will be annointed as our starter for 2010, it makes sense for MH to move Quinn out of here to give the new guy a clean slate through the off-season workouts and TC.
The new leader of the pride is killing off his predecessor's cubs one-by-one... ... so it seems.

what it came down to was he stunk up 7-on-7s in training camp last season. that's when a qb should shine and hit everything. people made up crap about him not being a "practice player" but instead as a "gamer." well the games came and went. 52% completion. let's not talk about drops but balls sailing out of bounds and being severely under or over thrown.

We go in to next season with Wallace the starter and at least 1 more new qb...maybe 2 if they don't like Ratliff.
Exactly, and I don't think we're going to get an upgrade at QB over Seneca Wallace.
It seems to me that this is his chance to come out, take the lead, and start for an NFL team. And I would love for Wallace to make the most out of it.
Quinn will prob go for a draft pick, we might draft a QB at any point during the draft but I do not expect a bonafied QB on this team.
As Daman said earlier in some thread, we won the last 5 games last year without offense. I hope to run the ball a lot this year, and that really starts with finishing up our O-Line. I would like to get a 1st round tackle to secure success in our running game and give our passing game a chance. If we don't spend a first, we better be prepared to spend a 2nd. A good O-Line will benefit all our skill players and we are missing ONE piece.

My fear is that what may be up the sleeve is Rogers, #7, and ??? to move up to #1 overall to pick Bradford. I'm not against Bradford if he falls to #7, but I'd hate to give up more for him.

Man, I do not want to do that,.... The way things have played out on paper so far in the rest of The North, we are going to need to get better on defense sooner, than on offense. (That theory includes assisting the defense by running the ball, btw.) Just my opinion.

I agree, not a fan of it either, but at this point, I'm afraid it may happen. I hope I'm proven otherwise soon.
Read a rumor earlier that Seattle is putting the full court press on Philly for McNabb or Kolb. If that happens, I suspect Hasselbeck becomes available - would be perfect with Wallace here with Holmgren's/Haskell's offense... These two would buy us at least 2-3 years - which means we could draft a QB in next year in a suspected much stronger class. This is my hope...

Looks like he already knew about Delhomme coming to town for a visit Quote:

That's actually pretty darn cheap for a QB that's contending to start..
