Quinn was horribly inaccurate from 10-30 yards. In case you want to know, his stats from that range are a 50 % completion%, 1 TD and 4 INTS for 609 yards. He had 136 attempts and 68 of them were completed.

Not sure where you're getting your stats, but out of curiosity, what were those same number for Drew Brees in 2002 and 2003?

These are simple splits stats from ESPN

2002: 62% completion, 6TDs and 10 INTS for 1699 yards. 266 attempts and 165 completions.
2003: 63% completion, 7 TDs and 7 INTS for 1214 yards. 187 attempts and 118 completions.

And, just in case you ask:

Quinn in 08: 54% completions, 0 TDS and 2 INTS for 288 yards. 48 attempts and 26 completions.

you had a good run Hank.

Well, that's part of what you said, but it's kinda contradictory.

Here's what you said first:
Quote:

If no one offers anything significant for Quinn I say we keep him. He's only due to make $700,000 unless he takes 70% of the snaps. And if he does take 70% of the snaps it means he has either put things together or we have had a few injuries.

$700,000 is really nothing for a backup QB.

That looks like you're making your case for why he should be kept. I just elaborated on it.

You stated why you'd want to keep him, then stated Holmgren may not just to get rid of him. All I did was expound on why your points in favor of keeping him probably aren't viable enough.

Actually I think it's Mangenious that doesn't like BQ at all. So, MH said I'll get you someone else and get rid of him, because he knew that DA should have been gone last year. Now the Genious has JD and SW and BQ will be shown the door.

The Browns will trade him rather than cut him, because if they don't he'll end up in KC or Denver. Then under the right coaches and game plan, he finds his game and is a better than average qb and has a winning season. If the Browns try to deal him to any other team, if he's smart (or his agent is) he'll refuse to report and sit out the season, forcing a trade to a team he likes.

On the other hand, JD throws his 20+ picks by the bye week and is benched. SW comes in and wins some games, we go 4-12 or 5-11 again and have a shot a one of the top 2 qb's in the 2011 draft.

Mangenious is shown the door and MH brings in his own crew and starts the real rebuilding job, with a lot more pieces to the puzzle in place and goes at least 8-8 or better in the 2011 season,if there is one . From 2012 out it's playoff time for Browns fans and it's about time !!!!

I'm not excited about Delhomme. I'm excited that Holmgren is changing the team to reflect HIS personality and HIS way of doing things.

THAT is the best spin you can put on this?

Wow, now I know it's a bad move......

The only guy I would have been excited about would have been Campbell, but in terms of what we'd bring in without also spending huge dollars and draft picks, a guy like Delhomme is as good a gamble as anyone.

I sure like him better than Quinn or Wallace.

Not even sure I agree with that.

If this was the Jake Delhomme of, say, 3 years ago then yeah, I'd be happy with this, too.

But it's the Delhomme that clusterboinked the Panthers last playoff game (what was it 6 turnovers?) and then capped that off the next season with 18 INTs. Mmmmm......makes me wish for Kelly Holcomb's return. Never thought you'd see that phrase in print did ya?

Anyone that wishes to can put a positive spin on this. That doesn't mean this will turn out well. And at this point I just don't see either QB making me say, "Gosh, I'm glad we picked this guy up".

Hope I'm wrong........but I don't think I am.

Well, after some thought... I hope they trade BQ and make Wallace the starter and keep Delhomme as a backup, unless Delhomme has really fully recovered from that old injury and is playing better than he played in 09.

I really hope they can get at least a 5th rounder for BQ but honestly, I bet we will only be able to get a 6th or 7th rounder for him. I'd love to be surprised and we get a 5th or better though...

I'm not certain of what I'm about to say. I don't pay much attention to the Panthers so forgive me if I turn out to be wrong..

Several years ago the panthers seemed to be more of a pass happy offense then something changed (maybe Stewart coming on board,, dunno) and thier offense seemed to become more run oriented.

If I am correct, I think the more "gunslinger' style fit Delhomme better...

All I'm saying is, maybe he's not as bad as it appeared given the changes in the panthers game...

Nice to see a familiar face. No matter how ugly it is.

It is nice(?) to know I can disappear for about year at a time and the topic on the board is still the same.

Board = "The guy we got at QB is a bum. This one college QB/or other teams backup could be our savior."

Joe Thomas is the best pick the Browns have made. They should learn from that lesson. We need some more big-uglies to control the front lines.

Yeah, the 6 TOs in the playoff game and the 18 INTs last year weren't his fault.....

Aside from mac, you are probably the next most negative poster on here. Just for your information.

And just like mac - people laugh at you and your thoughts.

I guess that's just my opinion though.

If only the Browns would do as you see fit they'd be great.........Oh, wait - we never hear how you'd improve anything, all we here is your griping.

Arch, if you'd like to hear what I think of you just PM me. I'd be glad to oblige.

As far as people laughing at me....as long as it's guys like you, well it doesn't bother me at all. I consider the source.

As far as it sucking to be a bitter person.....well, I guess I'll have to take your word on that one. I've read your posts and I can see you're an expert on that at least.

Don't get your knickers in a knot.

Really, after you say that maybe the Panthers offense lead to some of Delhomme's problems what exactly was I supposed to think?

Dude, the guy had 5 INTs and a lost fumble in the 2008 playoff game and 18 INTs in the regular season last year. And he didn't even play in every game last year.

Honestly, in the last 12 months and change he's flat out sucked. Maybe he gets better but if Quinn can't get better (according to the experts on here) then how exactly is Jake gonna do that here?
