I have to disagree. I don't think he's that great on the field. He has trouble with accuracy when throwing more than 15 yards, his deep ball hangs a bit, and he checks down too much for me. I'm just not a big fan.

I'd get to like him a little more if I were you. Because if the Rams take Bradford, he's going to be our next QB, I think.

I actually don't agree. I think they will go after what most would consider a second tier guy.. Lafaover (sp) or McCoy or someone along those lines..
Now that Wimbley is gone,, I expect them spend the first pick on D....

I agree, unless the Rams pass on Bradford. Then I think we're gonna try and trade up.

I don't think Wimbley is that big of a deal..Honestly Roth and Trunsik outplayed him. I think our LB core will be fine with or without him.
We have crap-ton of picks I can't see Heckert and Holmgren sitting on their hands. I honestly expect us to trade up and get a QB at this time.
Go Browns!!

I really don't want a qb in the first, unless berry is gone.I definately wouldn't mind taking another defensive stud if need be,but i'm just not sold on either bradford or clausen.

I just want to go on the record and say that I hope we do not draft Jimmy Clausen. And it has nothing to do with football.
The guy is a pompous jackass who will not be a leader of men at the NFL level.

i say stop drafting quarterbacks, pick up defense. please stop drafting qb's in the first 3 rounds id rather have a good defense and suck, then worry about a qb debate, bring defense then find a qb.

If we don't draft a QB in the 1st three rounds then where do we get one? Teams just don't give up QB's for fun.

We don't. We roll with what we have for this year (my guess is Seneca is given the opportunity to take ownership of the job, and if he falters, it goes to Delhomme). Next year, if Wallace has failed, we draft one.
Browns is the Browns

You realize Seneca Wallace is 30 years old right? Not that old for a QB, but we should definitely be thinking about his future backup at least.
If we don't draft a QB in this draft I will be 100% shocked.

Me too...I think Heckert was part of a FO that drafted 4 QBs in 10 years even with McNabb.

Look we ARE drafting a QB and now that we have oaklands 3rd round pick we have [icks 69,71,92 and pick 102 in the 4th so basically 4 picks within 33 picks to get a QB but I still think we are getting tebow or mc coy in the second I just got this weird feeling

I would go with that, and anything else that would keep Clausen out of here (i.e. Tim, Colt, Dan,...even the YSU QB)

Would it be worth more of a chance to take than Clausen ? I would take Tebow there, in a heartbeat. I would take Quinn back first.

If Clausen is inaccurate at the college level (and has been stated by numoerous on here, he's an arse as well), why bother?

It scares me, but that's my prediction as well.I'd much rather take a shot in the second or third round.

I have to dissagree with those who say that Jimmy Clausen is innaccurrate.
He's probably the easiest QB to scout because he's on every week. I am a UConn fan, but I also watch ND most weeks (as do many on here, i would imagine seeing as they're on NBC every week).
Jimmy Clausen is the best of all three brothers. I do agree that his long passes seem to float too much (not like his brother Casey Clausen out of Tenn. but they do go too high). Otherwise, his short/medium passing game is quite accurate. He's good at choosing his targets too. Unfortunately, Floyd got injured in the beginning of the year this year which left him with only Golden Tate as his go to guy. The rest of ND's receivers were unreliable.
Most of ND's losses were because of the defense and a bad running game in a pro-style offense. I really don't like Charlie Weis as a coach and don't think he works for college football.
Clausen was a very good QB this year for Notre Dame and has plenty of QB experience. People seem to have issues with him on this board and are very negative towards him. He kind of seems like a jerk, but in interviews he sounds fine. When he was 18 he showed up to ND in a limo (he's 18), he got caught on some photographs drinking (big deal, everyone in college drinks). While he isn't necessarily my pick for number 7, if he is our pick I won't be that angry. I'd just prefer getting O-Line and secondary in the first rounds of the draft and seeing what Mr. Wallace can do.

I don't want Tebow for a couple reasons, but here is the main reason.
He is left handed. Joe Thomas plays left tackle. Thomas would no longer protect our QB's blindside if our QB was a lefty. So Thomas would either A) Be less valuable because he is no longer protecting the QB's blindside B) Have to change positions.

We've lined him up on the right before
I really like Tebow the football player, but not in the first round.
We're trying to throw the ball downfield and he checked the ball down to Trent Richardson and the Indians on the choice.

Let's just suppose for the sake of argument that Tebow had NO mechanical faults and was "The Second Coming of Ken Stabler."
Would we not take him because we had to make the decision you laid out above ?
I do not pretend to know, just asking,...??

you have a point because our right side is anemic but we had right handed qbs that could see it coming and did nothing

I really like Tebow the football player, but not in the first round.
Is that a "value problem" for us, or is it because of the other first round defensive talent that will be there ? Tim's gonna want to be a QB -- do we really need to pay him first round money as the "Franchise Future ?"
And,...if we don't grab him at "the" opportune time when available, how long will he last before someone else takes their chance on him ?

Personally, I want no part of Clausen. When I watch him play I see Quinn version 1.5. He might be better than BQ, but not by leaps and bounds. I saw a guy who, like Quinn, could light up the crappy defenses they faced, but struggled mightily when he played the relative handful of credible defenses on ND's schedule.
I don't just don't think Clausen is a franchise QB. I'll be disappointed if he ends up a Brown (particularly Berry is sitting there at #7).

Yeah... if that happens, I'll be throwing things at the TV. Luckily, I THINK our new FO is smarter than that.

I wouldn't count on it. I'm not saying it's likely, but I think it's a not insignificant possibility at this point.

From the perspective of need versus value as it relates to this team, Clausen with our selection is as realistic a bet as anyone else.
He isn't my first choice (or 15th, for that matter) but I have to admit it's plausible.
***Gordon, I really didn't think you could be this stOOpid, but you exceeded my expectations. Wussy. Manziel, see Josh Gordon. Dumbass.***
