To me, the exciting part is "who" will be that young prospect the Browns target as their QB of the future?....

Winner Winner chicken dinner!!!!!

Delhomme is not great but he wasn't brough in to be.

I LOVE ALL THE MOVES SO FAR!!!! Fujita , Watson amd Pashos will prolly play guard. AWESOME imo

Not to say it isn't true.....but why are we so positive that this meens the end of Quinn. If MH feels that Quinn is that young talent we talk of.....whats to say that Ratliff is cut and we go into the year with these three.

We have a Sixth in Seneca and old vet signed to a 2 year contract for insurance....not a ringing endorsement that we have found our future either way.

I know ESPN and all say they are going a different way......i just aint buying it yet.

Signing Delhomme only makes sense if you hadn't signed Wallace.

Having Delhomme here to help Quinn makes a little sense. Not a great deal of sense but some sense.

But having Delhomme and Wallace (and Quinn if he's still here) only insures that you'll always have, at minimum, one pissed-off Quarterback. One guy that thinks he was deceived by management (whether it's true or not).

The other moves, up to this point were OK. Not bad. Not spectacular. But this one is just plain dumb, IMO.

Eh.. I don't imagine our FO had many options. Go another year with BQ or clean house and start over. We got a guy to help with the start over option. Now the $64000 question is who's going to be the QB in waiting. The draft will be interesting.

That is extreme assumptions in there that I'm not sure I can refute because they are your opinions. I think as long as both have a shot at the job, they'll be fine.

Delhomme wanted a chance to start, and he'll have that in Cleveland. He and Seneca Wallace figure to compete to start. Based on Wallace's history with Holmgren and Delhomme's play last season, we'd bet on Wallace.

What I get out of this is that the Saints said he would be a back up right ? Now this clearly states he has to compete for the job... so really it`s another QB competition... but the names have changed....

Just what is extreme in saying that Delhomme and Wallace (and Quinn if he's still here) both (all) think right now that they are the starting QB of the Browns and that come September one or more of them is gonna be pissed?

Seems to be a perfectly logical assumption to me.

Also seems to be pretty much the same situation as last year, just different names. Not exactly what I was expecting from the QB guru........

Maybe Jake Delhomme will be better than we think he will be, but after more thought, I still ain't liking this. He has done more in the NFL than DA or Quinn, but man I dunno. I'd rather give BQ one final shot... even if we drafted a QB THIS draft.

If the FO thinks Quinn has such a low ceiling he isn't even worth the bother, than just trade him right now for whatever we can get, then draft a QB next month. If not, our next "franchise QB" won't be ready to start until at least 2013. At the earliest.

I don't think either were promised the starting job and that they were both told they'd compete for it.

And who is to say that Wallace or Delhomme would be pissed to be a backup? If Wallace is the backup, he's a FA anyway so he can go if he wants. If Delhomme is a backup, he will likely know he is done as a starter in the NFL anyway.

I think there are too many assumptions to make that seem like it's logical. JMHO.

This is not true at all. Rookie QB's are now expected to start pretty early in their careers and recently quite a few have had immediate success (Vince Young, Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, Mark Sanchez, Matt Stafford).

I would expect any rookie we draft to be ready to start by at least the following season.

Oh God I hope not. Just say no to the train wreck that is trading up for Sam Bradford, Clausen, McCoy, Tebow, LeFevoure et al.

I think that was pretty obvious to everyone about last September. DA and Quinn just aren't that guy. No FA we bring in now is going to be that guy....he's going to have to come from the draft...and it isn't going to be THIS draft either.

That's why I love the Seneca Wallace trade. He gets to be our starter for the next 2-3 years while we wait until 2013 for our real franchise QB to come into town and get his feet settled. Delhomme? Great backup on the cheap. Terrible starter IMO.

Please stop mentioning Tebow. I know he is a legend in the South, but if we draft him as our QB of the future, I may just go throw myself off a building with the thought of a Delhomme-Wallace-Tebow future.

I can't understand some of the posts here. Many sound as if Quinn is actually a good QB. Go back and watch the games he played the guy is terrible. Jake may be on the decline, but he is a far better option than Quinn. Wallace is a very good back-up, and I believe Ratcliff is good as gone.

If they draft the QB of the future, something just about everyone agrees we need, who in their right mind wants Quinn as his mentor? Watch games from last year, we had no QB. Now we have a experienced veteran and a reliable back-up, both with experience.

As bad as Delhomme's season was last year, he still was better than Quinn and DA, and I'm sure Heckert and Holmgren know that also.

My point is, we all know a QB must be drafted for the future. And even the Quinn lovers know he was not going to be the guy. So bringing in a smart veteran with good work habits, and a back-up with many of the same qualities IMO will put whoever is drafted for the future in a much better situation than coming in here with the Quinn and DA fiasco going on.

I find it funny how the new FO is being lambasted after the careers they both have had. These are not first timers, they are proven guys with good track records. Not scouts turned GM, or first year head coaches with limited draft experience. I know things have been bad for years, but I see a FO with far better histories than what we have had here in what seems like forever.

For those who hate Delhomme, who else could they have brought in realistically? McNabb and Kolb were pipe dreams, and the rest of the choices were IMO worse than Jake. This is a temporary thing, and in that type situation, I'll take the experienced veteran anyday over a overhyped guy like Quinn.

Someone needs to explain to me why Bradford would be a train wreck of a draft pick, considering he has everything you look for in a QB. Is it solely on the injuries?

Not only that but he's left handed. We have one of the best, if not the best, left tackle in the league. Drafting Tebow would either make Thomas less valuable or switch positions.

2012, you meant.

What bugs me is... as a Browns fan I'm tired of waiting (like most on here), even though I understand that these things can't be rushed.

Ugh... dumb move, IMO. Why spend any money on a re-tread that has less than half it's tread intact (Jake has been bad for the last TWO seasons -- there is a trend there)? If the message is "we're gonna suck anyway this year, so let's go this route and draft a new guy this year or next," I would have saved the money and stuck with Quinn until the new guy was ready.

He's going to have a great year and win comeback player of the year.

At least thats what I'm gonna keep telling myself so I can actually watch the games.

I'd say it would be a train wreck not because I think Bradford is a bum. He's the ONLY QB in this draft class I'd touch with a 10 foot pole actually. The problem is he's not going to be available to us at #7...so we're going to have to give up a ton to move up and get him. I want 0 part in that.

I'd much rather ride out a couple years with a Wallace/Delhomme duo and grab Jake Locker next year while drafting an Eric Berry/Joe Haden in the 1st and a stud RB/RT with our 2nd round picks this year rather than drafting Bradford and giving up our 1st/2nd or 1st and 2 3rds etc to grab him. ESPECIALLY considering his injury history.

Every other QB in this draft class...is a bum.

Its has nothing to do with a "legend in the south" what the crap does that meen?

It does have to do with him being the 3rd best QB in this draft. Yes i have him above McCoy and that isn't legend status or whatever.....it is tat i feel he will succeed because of the intagibles that cant be coached. His throwing style will be adjusted and he will succeed at the next level whether its here or somewhere else.

PS. I hope the building is a single story.

Well either 2012 or 2013. I'd be fine with letting Locker sit 2 years...but if you must only give him 1 year to sit then 2012 it is

I mean SEC country.

I'd rather draft Jevan Snead over Tebow and I hate Snead as a prospect. Tebow can only be drafted by some one who has the luxury of sitting him for 3-4 years and letting him learn the pro system. The Browns cannot waste a 2nd or 3rd round pick on someone who won't be able to produce any time soon.

Delhomme could have been a backup on a good team (NO). You actually think he doesn't see himself as the starter right now, at this moment? Don't kid yourself.

As far as Wallace goes his first public statements indicated he thought his arrival here meant he was the starter. He backtracked a little the next day but you and I both know he wants no part of being the backup on this team.

These are all assumptions, obviously. But I think they are very safe assumptions.

And you can forget about Bradford unless we jump up to get him. Which I don't see this regime doing. At least not this year.

Sulk? Probably not. Pissed? Oh, yeah I'd bet on it.

Honestly, other than a lifelong fan like you or me, who wants to be a backup on a losing team? Especially when he thinks he should be the starter?

If you're gonna bring in a guy to be a backup bring in Jim Sorgi. Hell, everyone knows he sucks.......

Guys there is ZERO debate on this. Dehomme sucks, always have sucked (2 yr exception) will always suck, and this is a BAD signing all the way around. I will not eat my words on this as he will do the unthinkable if he starts this year, make me wish for Trent FREAKING Dilfer (aka worst Browns player in history). End of story, all other posts should be ripping the browns and the organization for this signing. PERIOD.

kash...some on this board are never satisfied when it comes to the QB position

IMO, another outstanding move by Holmgren and Heckert, adding an experienced NFL QB who has been successful in the NFL until he sustained a serious elbow injury in 2007, that required "Tommy John" surgery.

Delhomme returned in 2008 and lead the Panthers to a 12-4 season and the playoffs. Last season Delhomme had his worst season as a pro starting 11 games before suffering a season ending broken finger on this throwing hand.

Some Browns fans are ready to bury Delhomme and declare he is washed up. Delhomme is not being brought to Cleveland to be the long term answer, folks. He is going to be given a chance to compete for the starting job with Seneca Wallace. It's obvious that Holmgren is going to add a young QB who will be projected as the long term answer for the Browns at QB.

Delhomme and Wallace are here to help mentor the Browns young prospect, whomever that is. So relax and cut the guy some slack and try to look at the bigger picture.

THANK YOU!!! Say it like the gospel...what is with all the hostility towards the guy. MH has done this before. Look at other quality Teams they build an insulation at the QB position for a young "rook" to come into (less pressure). And enough time for a 3rd stringer to have more face time with MH... Come on people put the pieces together.

Between these two guys one of them can "manage" the game. That's the key just manage the game cause they both have done it before; have proven it.

This post is terrible.

Does he suck now? If last year is any indication, probably. However, always sucked? No. Worst player in Browns history? HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA no.

The only end of story here is that on paper, this looks like a horrible move and there should be criticism, however, let's not do blind criticism.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that IF Delhomme is our starter that he will be the best QB we have seen since our return. I know that isn't saying alot but I think he's going to prove alot of you wrong. The guy has tons of heart and I really believe that MH knows what he is doing here. We are not in a position to win it all right now and Jake is a fine bridge to whoever takes over at QB. I've seen this guy play quite a bit and he is a solid veteran QB. It's not like there were any others available anyway.

Here's what we are getting....

I am a bit confused by the signing of Delhomme and Wallace, so we had better prepare for another camp of quarterback roulette until a starter emerges. Hopefully this decision will be made by the end of the second preseason game, and we move on.

I still think that there is a chance that the Browns trade Quinn, and that the Browns will take a QB in the draft. There are just too many signs that a long term solution has not been found.
