I think that Toad can forget about Bradford, but perhaps someone in the 3rd or 4th round may be taken... especially now that we have multiple 3rds. Perhaps that LeFevour kid?
Agree..MH isn't using a high pick on a QB.. I see several QB's he could go after.McCoy/Pike/Kafka/Canfield.

Good luck in Denver Mr. Quinn. Wish you would have had more success here, but this is how the cards were played.

He went out with style if that's all he ever says about the situation. In the end he got good value for the team. I really like the trade.

Quinn has always handled himself better than Anderson. I suspect he always will.

Yeah, Bradford is a pipe-dream just like Campbell, but Hell, I wouldn't have believed it if someone had told me two months ago that I'd get home from work and see that both Quinn AND Wimbley were sent packing on the same day.
I'll keep my fingers crossed just in case.

One thing I noticed is that Quinn kept calling him Coach Holmgren.
Probably nothing, but it's just something I noticed...

They still call Knight Coach on ESPN. I think its more of the once a coach, always a coach respect sort of thing, similar to calling past Presidents, Mr. President.

This is Ammo's typical first reply in a trade threat.. he did the same thing to Anderson. Personally I don't get it. I could see if the guy was just a bad guy but from all I know, Quinn and Anderson did nothing but work hard and try to get better... so maybe they never were that good, maybe they were never put in a good situation, maybe some combination of the two... if thats the case then blame the GM, blame the coaches.... but to insult the players on the way out is low class....

pretty representative of a large portion of browns fans. they severely hype up a player, and then, when the player can't meet expectations, bashes him shamelessly.
ha, you should see him on twitter. players actually block him.

http://www.stationcaster.com/download.ph...p3&id=44385Bernie called in to The Really Big Show today. VERY interesting stuff. Long story short: He watched film with Daboll and both saw that receivers were "getting open an inordinately high number of times, and the QB's just weren't seeing or weren't connecting." Perhaps we as fans owe Brian Daboll an apology.

Which is why the more I watch the NFL, the more I'm convinced that you need a QB who is football smart and accurate.. that's it. I don't care, for the most part, what his measurables are, I don't care how far he can throw it on his knees, I don't care what his 40 time is. In a nutshell, to succeed as a QB in the NFL you need to excel at 2 things... knowing WHERE to throw it... then being able to throw it there.. it's pretty much that simple.

We have had 11 1st round picks since 1999. Only 2 are still on the roster (Thomas and Mack).

Ridson's $.05 For St. Patrick’s Day (Quinn, LT, Wimbley, Carr) 15th March, 2010 - 11:02 am Jeff Risdon/RealGM - It’s appropriate that St. Patrick’s Day falls this week, as one of the most prominent “Irish” Americans is prominently in the NFL news.
$.01--The Browns finally ended the Brady Quinn experience by trading him to Denver on Sunday. It’s a stunning fall for the local golden boy, a Dublin native and lifelong Browns fan chosen in the first round three years ago to help transform a hapless franchise. In that draft, former GM Phil Savage traded a 2nd round pick and the following year’s 1st rounder to rescue Quinn much later in the 1st round than anyone (certainly Quinn himself!) expected.
That wait appears validated by Quinn’s largely disappointing career thus far. Denver gave up just a 6th round pick, a backup RB (Peyton Hillis, who has functional value for Cleveland) and a late-round future pick for the former Notre Dame quarterback. To put it another way, the Browns essentially chose Seattle’s long-time backup QB, Seneca Wallace, and an aging vet coming off one of the most miserable QB seasons in memory, Jake Delhomme, over the young, able-bodied Quinn.
So what happened? The short answer is that a prolonged holdout ruined his standing with his new teammates and Quinn never recovered. He just didn’t click with his teammates, and he certainly didn’t click with Eric Mangini. It didn’t help that he couldn’t stay healthy, but over the years several Browns have taken quiet snipes at Quinn’s self-absorbed persona, and he rarely socialized with any teammates.
And there is a huge lesson there for the teams about to draft the more prominent quarterbacks, and those quarterbacks themselves too. All the physical ability in the world doesn’t mean much if the QB doesn’t fit in well or possess innate natural leadership, nor enjoy the process of being the face of the franchise. Quinn failed in Cleveland in those aspects, and that long rookie holdout lies at the root. It didn’t help that the on-field performance was shaky, but worse throwers have been given much more rope because of their leadership and intangibles.
$.02--Cleveland also made the news by signing Jake Delhomme, the deposed Panthers starter, and dealing OLB Kam Wimbley to the Raiders for a 3rd round pick and signing free agent TE Ben Watson and LB Scott Fujita. In case anyone still needed to receive the message, this is Mike Holmgren’s team now.
Wimbley’s departure caught many by surprise, as the former 1st rounder played reasonably well last season. But one Browns coach told me last summer that Wimbley wasn’t long for Cleveland, and here’s why: Joe Thomas. This coach said that the Browns drafting Thomas effectively ruined Wimbley’s Browns career. After a strong rookie season where he notched 11 sacks, Wimbley returned to camp and found Thomas in his way at left tackle. Wimbley couldn’t beat Thomas in practice and it “ruined his confidence”. Now he gets a chance to resurrect his career, and his confidence, in Oakland, which doesn’t have anything close to a Joe Thomas on its roster. I like the deal for both teams, because I do think Wimbley will help Oakland more at DE than anything they could get in the third round this year, and the Browns acquire another useful pick that will help remake the team in Holmgren’s image. The Delhomme signing, on the other hand, strikes me as a clear sign that Cleveland is ready to bring in a new, young QB in the draft.
web page
I haven't heard rumors of Quinn not getting along with teammates other than Shaun Smith. Not overly suprising but interesting none the less.

Quinn didn't get traded because his long holdout and his teammates or whatever that said.
Quinn isn't here anymore because he is inaccurate. Point blank.

Hey yeah pitting him against St.Clair would have skyrocketed his confidence. Afetr re-reading that article I think its a little bit absurd, but I enjoy the nation media's take none the less.

You are completely correct. I've been saying that for a while. Most important attributes are: 1. accuracy 2. ability to read a defense 3. leadership Dead last - arm strength.

what's lower?
Pocket presence? Running ability? Character?
I put all those above arm strength.
How may throws a game does a QB have to throw it more than 35 yards in the air? 1? 2?

You also have to factor in across the field, and the speed at which the ball is needed to be thrown. DA could never figure out that every pass didn't need to be a 100 mph fastball. Quinn couldn't figure out how to throw with some power. Yes chucking a Hail Mary isn't that important, but being able to throw into tight windows with varying speed and all over the field is necessary.
