Worst drive into work in at least 6 years....I-71 into Cleveland was a debacle - literally moguls building up on the highway due to the 40mph winds blowing everything. Saw a UPS truck absolutely lose it at 71 & Pearl in Strongsville, several others - and that was between 5:10-6am!

I called in and told them I wouldn't be in. It's usually an hour drive, one way, into Solon each morning, so I can't imagine how long it would've took this morning. I almost never take vacations so I decided I wasn't going to chance it. Plus I'm still a little gunshy after taking out a telephone pole in October.

Work's great isn't it. I'm not even attempting to clean the driveway, it's nothing but ice. If i slide down it and get stuck, I'm calling off.

Had I have known it was going to be as bad a drive in this morning, and, absolutely dead downtown, I would've closed the club, or at least not opened until noon.
However, hell hath no fury like explaining to a member who just made the commute that (pick one) they will not have a chance to jump in the sauna or hot tub on a morning like this.

What a morning: First, I have to snow plow my driveway. That wasnt a big deal, I expected it. But I didnt expect the drifts to be as high as they were. As Im finishing and go in the house I ended up locking myself out. I live alone, my keys and phone are in the house. AWESOME. So I give a shoulder to the door and just break in. It was the door in my garage so its not a big deal. And I actually didnt ruin it too much, I hammered it back down and you cant even tell I did it. So now im back in the house, changed and I am doing pretty good on time because I woke up 15 minutes earlier than usual. So then Im driving making a left onto the highway on ramp and cars coming the other way are making a right. Well, its hard to see with the snow coming down and the defroster in my car isnt working well. When they plowed this are they plowed a lane for cars making a left and cars making a right, and left a big pile of snow in the middle. Well I didnt see the snow in the middle until the last second so I tried to swerve around and get into the lane that the cars coming from the other way are using. No luck, I drive right into the snow and I get stuck. I also left my gloves at home because they were wet and didnt figure I would need them. Bad move, so I had to dig myself out with no gloves and just my windshield scraper. But I made it to work at 8am on the dot! Happy Valentines day to me, and my girlfriend is sick at her place, so no action for me tonight. Oh well, hope everyone else is safe out there today.

Got up looked out and decided I'll wait until this snow is done before I do anything. I've got 4 and 5 ft. drifts in the drive and snow up against 2 of my doors. No snow plows out yet in town and it still looks like a blizzard outside. Well at least we didn't lose power.

Ahhh! Snuggled up in my warm sweatshirt and Browns blanket. Working (yes, I'm still working today, and my commute was a BIOTCH....2 flights of stairs!). Told my boss I was NOT going out in this stuff, especially without snow tires (since the company will, at best, purchase all season tires). The boss laughed and said, good, I've got these spreadsheets you can work on for me. LOL! Hubby shoveled last night and this morning you can't even tell that he did. Guess that means I'll be out there this afternoon shoveling. Our neighbors (a State Trooper) told us that she was at 2 jack knifed tractor trailers yesterday (one in Alliance, one in Canton) and then she had to personally do something in Fairlawn then come home. A trip that should have taken 15-20 minutes took her almost 90. Yeah, I ain't leaving my house! LOL!

It isn't as bad as everyone made it out to be. Looks about like it did when I went to bed last night. Was up for about 20 minutes and needed to give the girls fresh water. Looked outside and it had started snowing. Guess our weather man doesn't know how to predict very well. We got alot of ice last night and no snow after, now it's coming down pretty good.

The drive in was actually somewhat enjoyable this morning. The roads were still crap, but I had I-480 all to mysef damn near, lol. There was like 1 car every 1000 yards.... kinda nice

When it's dry, I believe 480 is not that desolate even in the wee hours of the morning between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m.

Guess I'll head outside to start trying to shovel out of the driveway. I figure if I do 20 min at a time today, I should be done by 9PM. That's the worst part about all of this, I think.

It might be a kind jesture AND a GREAT investment to simply buy your neighbor a new rope for his broken snow blower?

The neighborhood kids took care of my snow blower in 1997. The stole it along with my lawn mower to have a couple of motors for their go carts.

It would be a GREAT investment....but I can't get out of the driveway. Besides, I like shoveling....unless it's icy like today.

Sounds like you had a fun morning. U live in Concord and work in Wickliffe, no? I got stuck in my damn parking lot last night and was about to leave her but I shoveled my way into a parking spot. Took me over an hour cause the snow was up to my knees pretty much. I have no heat or hot water either this morning and have to get ready for work, so I am not a happy guy today Hopefully my Si is bried so I can call off. I did sleep till 11 though b/c no class, WOO!

Yeah, live in Concord, work in Wickliffe.
No hot water hurts big time. I just hope my ride home goes a lot smoother. And I talked to 5 different friends of mine who's offices were all closed today. Must be nice!

As far as I know mine is open, but I work in Mentor off Tylerso I don't have RT2 to contend with. That drive home last night was terrible. I take 306 to Hodgson to Lost Nation to Lakeshore, takes 10 mins. Took me an hour last night and then another hour shoveling myself into a parking spot. Looking down today 3 cars are stuck trying to get out so I may just have to call off work, muhahaha

Well that just sucks Gordon! But weren't you driving a tow truck then? Go carts don't run very well once they've been run over with a tow truck ya know.
