Have we solidified any position for 2011? I don't see it...wes till need a QB, WR, RB, TE, RT, G, ILB, DE, OLB, SS, FS and CB
Wait, wait, wait. What? No, we haven't solidified any of these positions. And there is a pretty glaring reason. Today is April 2nd. The draft is April 22nd. A draft in which we have 10 picks. So you are complaining about holes we will have in 2011 before the 2010 draft has taken place.
Good job by you.

Those 3 5ths and even a player to be named could get us back in the 4th if we had a player we really coveted.
Those three 3's might make it unlikely. I feel we will stand pat.

We could package two of our 3rd round picks and a 5th two move back into the mid 2nd if we wanted to.

Agreed. I feel like just in the offseason we have filled needs at Corner, OLB , ILB , TE and a power back. Not to mention Pashos at a guard spot after we take a Tackle. AND.......we havent even used our TEN draft picks....and 5 in the first three rounds. WE ARE DOING EXCELLENT!!!!!!! You gotta overlook DJ. He is the spin doctor!

Heckert's and Holgren's Philosophy is to fill NEEDS through Free Agency so you can take BPA in the draft. Looks like they are doing that. Now we need a safety in free agency and our last hole is filled.

I get the same feeling.....if Eric Berry is gone.
I see a tackle more than a WR though. And I would be just fine with that.

yeah, we improved for next year but that's it....now we most probably won't draft an elite CB talent like Haden or any 2nd rounder further delaying our REAL CB-upgrade
Oh that's good..now that thought process just shows how negative U are..as I said before, this trade prevents the Browns from reaching on any CB that they might want. And it also tells me they want safety help first..maybe U can try to understand that for a minute.

I agree 110%
I just got that feeling though...we might take Okung (sp) or one of the top two receivers.
Just a feeling.

I feel the three thirds combined with the fifths gives us wiggle room to move up in the third or possibly even late seond should we so choose.

There is only one receiver worth taking with our 1st rounder (Bryant).
Going off our guys who are in charge (Holmgren, Heckert, Mangini. In that order) record, none of us should be surprised if a linemen is the pick in the 1dt round. I don't know if it will be Okung (he probably will be gone).

Good point attack...... and even if Brown is a 1 or 2 year stop gap we can take a Corner in next years draft. Maybe Dj feels like there wont be one in next years draft.

The way DJ reacts to every thing, he probably thinks we will not have a draft next year. His lame attempt to justify his constant negativity, is to say he causes debate. IMO he is so full of it, he can't help but complain.

my ever-evolving dream scenario for the Browns draft:
1. find someone that really wants Haden (or Berry if he drops). trade back to th 10-14 range while picking up an extra 2nd
2. draft either Anthony Davis or Buluga (Davis more likely still there). Earl Thomas the backup option if someone steals both OTs.
3. use our 2 3rds and 5th to move into middle of 2nd round.
4 of the top 45 players in what is considered one of the best drafts in recent memory.

I don't think Dez Bryant is worth a Top 10 pick though. I think he'll go somewhere between 15-20.
I wouldn't mind going Berry in round 1 (if he's there), then Arrelious Benn/Golden Tate in the 2nd.

If we trade back into the 15 range like you're suggesting, I wouldn't mind going Dez Bryant there. I just don't want him at 7.

I would rather have E. Thomas, A. Davis/Buluga, Odrick, or McClain if we are in that range.
As you alluded to, I don't think there's that much separation between Dez and the next tier of WRs in this class, and I would prefer getting one in the 2nd tier if we do end up drafting one (though I am not a fan of Mr. Tate).

There is a huge difference talent wise between Bryant and the next WR. Bryant is being compared to Larry Fitzgerald with more athleticism. He has a chance to be a top 5 WR in the league. He's just not very smart off the field.

Benn is more impressive IMO. It would be a tough take if Benn and McCoy are both on the board when our pick comes in round 2.

I wouldn't draft Bryant in any round. He is a diva who doesn't work for it and coast by on his talent.
If the Browns actually do end up with him, I will be very, very unhappy.

Although he is a top ten talent the "issues" will drop him out of the top ten.If we trade back and he is there maybe.......

So far the Gocong trade is up to 6 or 7 pages. Will it make it to a part 2 like the Brady trade? Will we have AkronJoe calling out that we traded a peanut butter and jelly sandwich this time?

Browns restructure Sheldon Brown's contract Posted by Michael David Smith on April 2, 2010 4:12 PM ET
This morning the Cleveland Browns acquired Sheldon Brown in a trade with the Eagles. This afternoon the club made sure its new cornerback would be a happy camper.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Brown has already restructured his contract with the Browns.
The new deal doesn't give Brown any more money than he was already scheduled to get paid, but it converted a some of the money Brown had remaining on the final three years of his deal and turned it into guaranteed money that will be paid right now as a signing bonus. The Browns also added incentives to Brown's new contract.
The 31-year-old Brown started all 16 games for the Eagles in 2009 and has started every game except one over the last six seasons. He's expected to be a starter in Cleveland as well.

Makes sense to me. An uncapped year, let's get some of this money on and off the books quickly. And, if he's a stopgap, he's not going to be dead weight salary-wise in the next few years.
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

"No new money" is a good phrase from where I'm sittin'.
He gets a nice bump, and as you said, some of the money is on the 2010 uncapped books.
Any move made by a team is a gamble. For me, this is a worthwhile one. We needed a starting CB and we got one. It's hard to measure the flexibility this gives the team during the draft.........

Getting a starting caliber CB for,in essence,a fourth and a fifth for 3 years is a good trade. Hall for Gocong right now is a wash. Oh Pittdawg. In '99 and '00 Belicheck traded draft picks for players one time,a sixtth round pick in the '02 daft for some scrub. All his other trades in his 1st two years acquired draft picks. You are correct about learning from history.I just don't think a person learns as much when he fabricates that history.
Indecision may,or maynot,be my problem

Wait, let me get this straight. You think Kyle Calloway is a 2nd or 3rd round player.
Sheldon Brown isn't going to get paid nearly as much as Dunta got, who by the way is now the 2nd highest paid corner in the NFL.
Dude, we have 3 3rd rounders, and 3 5th's. And we just added two starters. You think that anything we gave up was going to be a starter? No.
I can't read anymore...
Dango...U r one pup...

And we STILL have the ammo to move in this draft...

There needs to be some leadership familiar with the system that the Browns plan to install and it appears the Browns are addressing such needs by these moves. All of these players "fit in" to what the Browns will be selling their young players and draftees.
But that NEVER works man...EVER...Que Dango...

we aren't giving up high draft picks or selling the farm to accomplish infusing this veteran leadership.
According to this (lack of a sane word) we r...2 STARTERS within a 4 year Rook contract...LMAO...Que Dango...
I understand Pit...U understand...Wish others would...This was a SOLID ASS move...So was Pashos...So was Fujita...So was Watson...So was the QB trades...I UNDERSTAND WHY!!!!!!

He infused veterans who he was familiar with and knew his system. In that manner it IS eerily similar. _______________________________________________
Prior to the 2001 season, Belichick added some amazing character to the locker room with guys like Bryan Cox, Roman Phifer, Anthony Pleasant and David Patten, among others. There were too many times in 2009 when the Patriots said they struggled to find leadership, so Belichick's initial strategy with this organization needs to be revisited. Would it be completely out there to reach out to Willie McGinest

Whatever dude.
And how good are the odds of a fourth or fifth round draft pick making an impact to your team? You act like we traded them high quality picks. lmao
You get starters for what you would call a long shot prospect at best. lol
I can see how you might have been confused. But for future refrance, when I start a "new paragraph", I'm not bunching it in with the paragraph prior, Though I didn't explain myself very well. My intent was to denote the influx of veterans familiar with his system.

I disagree, I agree with Django on this one. I don't know much about the guy, but I take drafting for a linebacker in the 5th round with potential of overplaying his draft status than trading for a guy that's doesn't have such a high ceiling.
Even though I don't agree with Django's posts most of the time, his opinions are still worth while for discussions sake regardless if I think he's right or wrong. I think people should respect that.

I'm just some know it all nobody .... but I really like this deal.
We give up a 4th and a 5th .. and Alex Hall (who probably would not have made the team) and get a solid starter at CB .... who is also probably 1 of the best corners we've had in 10 years ........ plus a solid LB who was miscast in the 4-3.
Worst case? We get a starter and a special teams player out of a pair of late draft picks. I'd take that anyday.
