We have a 9 long page of The Browns trying to get Gocong. Then there is a trase for Gocong in Sheldon Brown. Since alot of rules are made to make this board easy to read and free from clutter, wouldnt it be easier to lock up the first thread of what the Browns are trying to do, then start a new one of the actual trade?

Im trying to read thru 9 pages for the actual trade and have to read 9 pages in of people still debating Django about the possibilty of a trade. If I wasnt told a trade had been made I would have never known if I came strait here looking for it because I got bored of the other thread at page 2 and would have never clicked on it. This is the first site I go to in regards to Browns news so I would have never known about the trade if I wasnt told already.

I'd rather have more threads with fewer pages and a more clear subject rather than one vaguely titled 8 page thread where everything is lumped into it. It's more of a pain in the ass to go through pages of posts in a thread rather than go through a bunch of threads to find one thread.

Just sayin'.

I agree ... provisionally.

I do not want to see everything in the world lumped into 1 thread titled "Football". Then again, I don't want to see "Delhomme should start", "Wallace should start" , "We shold have kept Quinn", WE should have kept Anderson", and so on .... and I also don't want to see "So and so may sign Monday" .... "Or Tuesday", "Maybe Wednesday" and so on as thread titled either.

I would suggest that once a possibility becomes an actual event, the original thread could be closed and a new thread with the actual happening in the title be started. Either that or the Refs could change the title of the 1st post in the speculative thread, and add a note that the signing/trade/whatever actually did take place.

My general feeling though is that I could tolerate an additional thread or 3 rather than digging through 1 thread for new on 3 or 4 different possibilities. (as in the general "free agent" thread earlier this off-season.

I often go to the sites listed in the Header for actuall facts..PPl has them there so it`s easy access to the site i wish to browse...Then I come back to the threads on here and read what the members have to say...

For some it may be an inconveinence to utilize the sites listed..As for myself...I find it quicker to get the facts...Then of course...the enjoyment of reading all the inputs of the Dawg Talkers....

This is off topic but can I make a suggestion?

Can we make a different section underneath pure football section. It would be for every other sport outside of the NFL. That way we could discuss NBA, NHL, MLB, college sports in general, post mocks. I mean you saw how many threads were in the March Madness section alone this year then combine that with the NFL draft section. That way the tailgate section could be strictly about outside the world of sports.

With the way threads get bumped, I think the wheat will seperate from the chaff. I too hate the fact that everything regarding anything gets crammed into one thread, and it's up to you to figure out that it's in there. If 50 threads get posted about the same subject, people will polarize to the better discussion and that's the thread that keeps getting bumped up and used. If someone posts a rogue thread about a similar topic that's already getting talked about, it usually disappears pretty quickly.

Exactly. It happens that way in every forum.

Yup... I think we need to start allowing new threads about similiar subjects even if they are mentioned in another thread..

Take a look in the Draft forum.. there is a locked thread in there about the Browns talking to the Rams about trading up into the first pick to take Bradford which the ref locked saying it has already been mentioned in the thread about Clausen/Bradford or Bust...which was a thread I had no interest in and never check out... but once I saw the thread about the Browns talking to the Rams about trading to get Bradford, I became interested in it.. I'm not going to be digging in each and every thread to try to hear something that may be related but is different...

Clausen/Bradford or bust != Browns talking to the Rams to get Bradford.

Some people may not care about a thread about Clausen/Bradford or bust, but will be interested in the Browns trading with the Rams to get him.. IMO those are completely different subjects and are worthy of 2 different threads.

We should just have one thread on this forum. Call it "The Thread" and be done with it.

That's how they seem to want it, at least.

the bradford/clausen thread became primarily about bradford, so a clausen thread was created.

I think 1 Bradford, and 1 Clausen thread is enough. there are a lot of players in this draft, and it looks like the more popular players can have their own thread.

why isn't that good enough?

Well on the merit to why the Browns talking to the Rams for Bradford being locked... the Clausen thread should have been locked as well considering that there is already a thread about it... but personally, I don't care talking or reading about Clausen or Bradford, but would like reading about some current news about trade talks.
