So much for the Washington Redskins' quiet offseason. In an insanely gutsy move, the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to trade Donovan McNabb to the Redskins, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. This is no belated April Fool's joke. The compensation of the deal is not yet known and it wouldn't surprise us to hear a big-name veteran involved in the deal. Schefter says Washington's second-rounder is likely to be included. Link

If Toad has his way, we're on the phones right now trying to get Campbell.
Before we got Delhomme and Wallace, I figured we'd go for it. I doubt it now, but I still wouldn't be surprised to see us try something.
That all being said, wow, now Philly faces a PO'd McNabb twice a year?
I hope that Philly is getting a ton in return. McNabb ain't what he used to be, but he's still a pretty darn good QB.

Well, they had to hitch their cart to Kolb at some point. I just have to think they could have gotten a pretty good deal with a team outside of the division.

I also wonder why philly is dumping players left and right. now it looks like they are rebuiliding.after getting to the playoffs year after year. I thought they had another 2 year window with the team they had however.... not now lol

The thing that scares me most: Jimmy Clausen will almost certainly be there for the Browns to draft.

Assuming (as was rumored) that we inquired about McNabb and that the Eagles took the Redskins offer because it was better than ours, my question is this:
Where in the WORLD is Django now?? He should be praising the crap out of this F.O. for not being willing to trade golden draft picks (2nd this year and a conditional 3rd/4th next year) for an aging vet! This is exactly the kind of thing he hated about the Gocong/Brown trade and should love that we wouldn't do here. Turn about is fair play right?

It always amazed me how little respect McNabb got from Philly fans. Wonder how they'll fare with Kolb and Vick this season.
Hopefully we won't hear Claussen's name called when Cleveland is on the clock.

i would normally disagree with that statement, because the redskins constantly try and make splash moves and fail miserably, but i agree here, because of who's running the show now, that could haunt the eagles for years. mcnabb has good years left.

If we draft Clausen, I take back every nice thing I've ever said about Holmgren/Mangini/Heckert. Epic fail. Luckily I'm pretty sure we won't but that's JMO.

Damn. Damn. Damn. Damn. I would now expect the Deadskins to take Berry at #4. They could go Tackle ...... but I really expect them to be unable to pass up a heavy duty playmaker in the secondary. Ah well .. maybe the kid out of S. Florida might be our guy.

I seriously doubt that. They have LaRon Landry and Chris Horton, both of whom are a decent combo.

Don't kid yourself this almost makes an OT a lock for the Redskins. Denver always had good offensive lines under Shannahan. The Redskins almost got Campbell killed back there. The Redskins line is one of the worst in the NFL. McNabb isn't as spry as he used to be so the Redskins will need to protect him. They will also have the chance at either Okung or Bulaga who are the top 2 rated LTs. If they honestly pass on a OT I will absolutely shocked.
What this does for the Browns is almost guarantees that Clausen will be available at 7 barring someone trading up and selecting him. Now Holmgren came out and said he liked Bradford and was semi-cool on Clausen. That could be the truth or it could be posturing...who knows. I will say if Holmgren was throwing out a smoke screen this trade will make his day as Clausen will most likely be available.

If Claussen drops to us and Berry is gone, we "may" either take Claussen or  trade down with one sweetheart of a deal to to someone craving for him. Taylor Mays isn't exactly swiss cheese.

As good as Berry could be Mays has the physical tools to play the Safety position as no other person before him could. There has never been a safety with more physical gifts than Mays. If we could get a 2nd round pick and Mays I would be estatic.

I have to disagree with you big. Not saying you're wrong to an extent. But Mays has a huge physical presence combined with great speed. IMO he's a kid who could be the kind of difference maker like a Polomalu is. We haven't seen anything remotely close to that Since Eric Turner IMO if the kid comes close to his potential. I think he has that rare combination of size and speed that doesn't come along very often. It's just with all of this talk about Berry I didn't really want to get flamed for bringing it up! Now that it's looking more like Berry won't be there, I plan to pimp this kid hard! The only glitch I see is trading down and still be in a position to draft him. I see your point as well, but seeing this kid in the Orange and Brown gives me goose bumps! We need an imposing impact player on the D and this kid could be just what the doctor ordered in that department. jmho

Man if I was a Philly fan I would pretty upset. First they trade Shelden Brown who was a pretty good corner for them last year for a 4th and now they trade Donovan McNabb one of the greatest QBs in franchise history to an in division rival....
Maybe they are hoping Washington's line is soo bad McNabb will be destroyed like Campbell. I don't know, I would prefer my team take a lower 2nd or even a 3rd rather than trade him to in-division rival

I do not disagree that Mays would be a great addition to this defense. He's fast, hits like a truck and can glide to the ball.
The problem with Mays is that he cannot cover anyone. He doesn't do well in coverage, ironically just like Polamalu. With Elam and Mays, you have two safeties who main weakness is not being able to defend the pass.
I am not saying I do not want Mays, I'd love to have him. I am saying, however, that we would need to make another move to put someone @ safety to be the cover guy, because Elam cannot do it.
Then again, I've been pimping Darren Sharper for a while and would look just so fantastic with Taylor Mays.
