Ehhh it would be more like us trading to the bengals. I think eagles fans hate the cowboys/giants a lot more than the skins.

As a Bears season ticket holder, I was excited to hear about McNabb playing in his hometown of Chicago since the NFC North plays the NFC East this year......but then I realized Philly and Wash were both coming in town this season. So I was going to see him anyway.

I understand that you take the best offer....but it's in the same division. Weird. I couldn't imagine Urlacher being traded to the Packers, Polamalu traded to us, or Tom Brady traded to the Dolphins. Maybe Philly thinks McNabb is a big choking over-the-hill QB and wants to poison their rival. Heck, Favre pulled the same choke maneuver with the Vikes (he didn't get "better" by going to the rival).

I hope McNabb takes Washington to the playoffs at the expense of Phlly the next 2-3 years.

I would now expect the Deadskins to take Berry at #4. They could go Tackle ...... but I really expect them to be unable to pass up a heavy duty playmaker in the secondary.

Ah well .. maybe the kid out of S. Florida might be our guy.

Don't kid yourself this almost makes an OT a lock for the Redskins. Denver always had good offensive lines under Shannahan. The Redskins almost got Campbell killed back there. The Redskins line is one of the worst in the NFL. McNabb isn't as spry as he used to be so the Redskins will need to protect him. They will also have the chance at either Okung or Bulaga who are the top 2 rated LTs. If they honestly pass on a OT I will absolutely shocked.

What this does for the Browns is almost guarantees that Clausen will be available at 7 barring someone trading up and selecting him. Now Holmgren came out and said he liked Bradford and was semi-cool on Clausen. That could be the truth or it could be posturing...who knows. I will say if Holmgren was throwing out a smoke screen this trade will make his day as Clausen will most likely be available.

Denver almost always had good lines ... and also almost never drafted linemen high.

Shanahan got to Denver in what ... 1994?

From 1994 to 2008, the Broncos drafted a G in the 3rd in 1997, a C (Our former player, Lennie Friedman) in the 2nd in 1999, a T (George Foster) in the 1st in 2005, and Ryan Clady in 2008.

Shanahan rarely drafted OL at the top of the draft.

I didn't want Mays last year when it was projected that he would come out early. I see Mays as being Roy Williams. He will come in and probably make a few pro bowls because he is a big hitter. But as soon as teams figure out that he can't cover his shadow he will become a defensive liability.

Sharper definitely could be a big benefit to our defense if he has one more year in him. I'm not really sure he does though. Sharper is a great leader and has a knack for picking off the ball at this point. Because he isn't as quick anymore he uses his instincts to get his advantage and has changed his game, but from what I remember he was always a ball hawk. I wonder how much it would cost to get him at a one year contract, he is a FA I think

McNabb took one right in the keester. "how bout that team loyalty"
Fans expect players to stay faithful, but don't think twice when management decides they are expendable.
I was always an NFL backer in the past, but not so much anymore.
Hell... if the players can get it... (what ever IT is) ... go get it.
Redskins get to play Philly twice a year... shame on em.

Pros and cons to this as pros it could come back and bite the Eagles in the rear or cons, due to the fans lack of respect to Donvan during the whole time he was there!

I'm going to enjoy watching certain posters squirm.

On to the trade...........

Ballsy move by the 'Skins. Shocking move, IMHO, by the Eagles. I'm applauding the "guts" to trade him to a divisional rival. That entire line of thinking is found within those who have irrational fear. That player's ultimate performance is not influenced by perception. Either McNabb is good enough or he isn't. Losing to or being beaten by him may have a prideful resonance with the fans, but it doesn't matter a hill-o-beans in terms of the bottom line. I'm just surprised they'd hand the job to Kolb with such little practical work.

Sometimes, it's a good idea to ride the franchise leader into the sunset because the player still gives the team the best chance to win.

If nothing else, we can call how the Eagles conduct their business "by the book." They follow their blueprint without fail. Reid's a sharp cookie. I wish he was running our organization.

But it is good to know that Reid was our new guy's pupil.

Ak, you can't believe 16 there. He's yankin' your chain.

I'd throw in a 3rd to make it happen.

Should we make a move for Campbell................My personal opinion would be to see what it'd cost to get him. However, Holmgren has already committed to Delhomme. I'm not worried about Wallace. His cost was minimal. He would make one of the best #3 QB's in the league. He's a possible ok backup. He's not a starter. Acquiring Campbell to be ready to come into the game if Delhomme doesn't have anything left wouldn't be a bad idea. Given the choice, I'd much rather have Bradford, but the costs between the two are severe. I'm not a big fan of Clausen, and I'm still of the feeling that if we can't land Bradford we shouldn't touch this class of QB's. That itself is probably a little pessimistic, but it is what it is. If Campbell could be had for a 3rd, yeah, I'd do it. A 2nd rounder? Probably.

So the question would be...."Why?" I think Bradford is special, but I don't think he can be had without a severe investment. Assuming we can't land him, giving up a higher pick still allows us to build the rest of the team without spending our 1st rounder. We could continue to build the rest of the team while we allow Campbell and Delhomme to fight it out in camp. The loser becomes one of the best backups in the game. That's always important unless you're the guy backing up FrankenManning.

My opinion of Campbell hasn't changed. I think he's a decent gamble as a starter, who at worst is a good bridge QB. I sure believe in him more than I do in Delhomme, and more than the LeFevour's and Pike's of this draft.

The reality is we've already made our bed with Jake. I would be really surprised if we go after Campbell.

I'm surprised that the Eagles let McNabb go CHEAP!

A 2nd round pick this year and a 3rd or 4th rounder next season.

I wonder if the Eagles asking price for McNabb plummeted from the time when it was reported that the Browns were inquiring about the availability of Kolb and McNabb a month ago?

I would think, the Browns would have given the Eagles at least what they traded McNabb to the Skins for and most likely more.

It's not a terrible deal for the Eagles but you do have to wonder, what is going on in Philly? We just made a good deal, acquiring two starters from the Eagles and now they trade their starting QB for the #37 pick this year and a 3 or 4 next season.

Then to add insult to injury, the Eagles trade with a division rival. If I were the Eagles owner, GM or head coach, I would not want to be facing the fans and media if the Eagles tank while the Redskins surge past them in the division.

This move could come back to haunt the Eagles, twice a year, for the next 3 years or so as McNabb's play shows no sign of dropping off, as he had one of his best years last season.

If the Redskins do surge past the Eagles in the division, the media and fans will remind the Eagles owner, GM and Reid, what a horrible decision they made on Easter Sunday, 2010.

...jmho

Wow, Mike Florio and ESPN radio Sportscenter are saying the Skins offered Albert Haynesworth as part of the deal and the Eagles said NO.

The Eagles let McNabb go for the best offer they had. If they had a better offer, they would have taken it. And the fact that he went to a rival in the same division tells me the Skins offer was considerably more than other the offers. If someone outside of the NFC East would have come close with an offer, he'd be there instead.

McNabb will face the Eagles on Monday, October 26

Posted by Mike Florio
April 5, 2010 9:54 AM ET

During the Monday morning SportsCenter on ESPN, anchor Sage Steele offered up a juicy morsel that deserves far greater attention.

Steele said that Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb will face the Eagles for the first time on October 26, in a Monday Night Football game played in Washington.

And so the league apparently has provided ESPN with a tiny glimpse at the closely-guarded 2010 regular-season schedule.

It's unknown when McNabb will return to Philly; but like Brett Favre in 2009, McNabb will see his long-time team at home in prime-time.

Man,, I just watched a video of McNabb on the Eagles website.. How in the heck can those fans out there not like this guy... I mean, I get it, when he was drafted, they wanted Ricky Williams.... Talk about a flawed crystal ball To be fair, I don't think anyone thought that Williams would turn out to be a toker and miss a few years because of it..

He's done ok I guess, but not even close to the production that McNabb as provided....

Yeah, they played a clip of the fans booing when he was drafted. It's beyond me how a lot of fans (not all of them) treated him from day one. Oh well, now they can boo Kolb.

Can you imagine us drafting him back in 99? Pretty sure he wouldn't have been nearly as successful w/ the supporting cast, but man, if he acheived the same body of work he did in Phili, he'd be royalty in Cleveland.

I basically understand why the booed him when he was drafted,, the majority of thier fans wanted Williams.. I think alot of teams thought well of williams that year..

But after McNabb had established himself as a winner, the floggings seemed to continue in Philly..That's the part I just don't get..

And you are right,, if McNabb comes here and produces like he did there.. or even close,, he's be a hero in Cleveland... we'd be putting up statues for him,,, and if whoever was running the team as Pres or GM tried to trade him,, we'd revolt...

In Philly, they seem to be just fine with losing him....

McNabb wanted to be traded within the division - he refused to sign an extension with any team outside of it. The Raiders said, "OK, we'd like you anyway," and he said he'd retire if he went to them, The Eagles weren't going to get crap trading him outside of the division.

That is certainly possible.

Maybe the Eagles fel they have reached a point where they need to establish their future QB... if they believe Kolb can be a good QB - and a lot of people do - you then have to wonder if the Eagles felt it was better to get something of value now, and move on at the quarterback spot.

As to the fans, it made it easier for the Eagles to make the trade because the fan base is somewhat divided on Donovan. It's funny because a lot of teams would have taken McNabb's production for the past 11 seasons. I know we would have.

Don't forget that the Phillies have lost more games than any other team in sports history. The Phila. Athletics were good when they didn't have to sell off their players to stay in the black, but mostly they lost alot of games too. The Iggles have prolly lost more games than not. So, the Philly fans have a long tradition of rooting for loosers. I remember 1964....... Yikes.....

I just wonder what kind of graphic the TV stations will have to replace the "longest coach/qb tenure" that they'd always show when the Eagles were on with the split screen of McNabb/Reid.

They were awful until the had McNabb. They're good years coincide with him. They're going to miss him more than they think.
