The bulley looked good against Chicago. I think the extra innings game on Thursday really set up the fail for yesterday. That or they just stink.
Oh well, the good thing about baseball...there's always another game to win the following day.
Go Tribe! Beat those crappy Rangers!

Gonna be at the game today. I was e-mailed by the Indians on Thursday night about attending the game sitting in their new "Social Media Deck." Apparently I was one of 10 people chosen to sit there for my work in the social media field. Very humbling.
This is my first Opening Day, can't wait!

i dont think the bullpen is terrible; I dont think they are great either, but we really need our starters to go deeper into games to give our bully a fighting chance. If they cant get deeper into games it is going to be ugly.

Agree,....good tactical point. The pen is only as strong as the starters can go deep. Makes sense.

And then Perez goes and loads the bases with no outs in a tie game. Ugh...what a way to spoil the home opener.

I guess I have to give Perez props for getting out of that situation....even if he should never have put himself there in the first place.
Was kinda fun to see Garko pop out with no outs and the bases juiced. That's why he's no longer an Indian.

Fausto was already at 111 pitches. this early in the year, i say you trust your pen and hope for the best. don't want to burn out your best arm this early.

Can't argue that,...wouldn't have had him pitching in the tenth anyway, and now the game is lost, again, anyway. The pen stinks, even when it isn't overworked.
Maybe the O can do something here,....

In case you haven't noticed, and judging by the attendance you haven't, the Indians have managed to win a few here and there, and are threatening to climb out of the cellar. Back2Back Complete Games!!!! 1st time since 1996 Ogea and Nagy You can tell Wedge isn't the Manager, he would of pulled the starters in the 7th! Way2Go Tribe!

We got Talbot from Tampa Bay for Kelly Shoppach in the offseason.
It's nice to see back-to-back complete games from our 4th & 5th starters...

3 in a row for the Tribe, win today and get back to 500. Still not hitting very well. Hopefully when they start hitting the pitching will still be there.
Perez finally looked like a closer yesterday, first pitch strikes really help out a closer. lol

my dad at the game - check
our best pitcher gets the win - check our best hitter hits a grand slam - check our 2 best fielders make great plays in the field - check we strike out their best hitter 3 times - check
great job Tribe. 500 ball keeps us close, now if we can beat someone besides Chicago, we'll be set.

My son and I were at the game Saturday. Cold day for baseball, but what a good game. Couple of strange plays (I missed Choo rounding first and missing the bag -- anybody see a replay to confirm/refute the call?), but overall it was a fun game to watch. Jake looked good, we got timely hits, the setup men did their job and Perez pitched like the good closer I think he CAN be. The kids are alright... Our starters are pitching well. Our bullpen needs to listen to their skipper and stop nibbling (particularly early in the count). That first-pitch strike is crucial. Hopefully, we'll see some improvement there.

This road trip will be a good measuring stick of where this team of youngins is. I believe we'll be playing all first place clubs for the next 9 games. The Tribe 4 game streak is against last place teams. I'm not taking anything away from them as a win is a win and you have to beat the pansies, but like I said, this trip will be a real test.

No doubt. It will be good to see what going into a tough road trip with a little momentum and confidence will do for these kids. Despite the quality of the opponents we've beaten, I think the guys are doing several things well (particularly the starting pitchers). Should be fun!

Indians option Brantley to Triple-A to make room for Branyan April 19, 2010 CBSSports.com wire reports CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Indians have optioned outfielder Michael Brantley to Triple-A Columbus so they can activate first baseman Russell Branyan. Brantley began the season as Cleveland's starting left fielder, but only because Branyan, who signed a $2 million contract with the Indians in February, was on the disabled list with a herniated disk in his back. Branyan is expected to be activated on Tuesday, when the Indians open a three-game series in Minneapolis against the Twins. Brantley was batting just .156 (5-for-32) with 1 double and 3 RBI in nine games. He was acquired in 2008 from Milwaukee in the deal for CC Sabathia. With Branyan expected to start at first, the Indians likely will platoon Matt LaPorta and Austin Kearns in left. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/story/13249...lines;headlines

This doesnt make any sense to me other than to rationalize the signing of the ol Windmill.

Well... this will be interesting. It's going to get old watching this clown strike out his usual 30-40% of his ABs. Brantley needs the time up here. He's learned all he's going to learn in AAA. He's not going to develop any more in Columbus. This is a big mistake IMO.

they don't want brantley to be eligible for abritration a year earlier. Or free agency for that matter. The nats are doing the same thing with strasburg. I don't agree with it at all. These guys are ready for the bigs. Let them play already.

I know I'm probably preaching to the choir on this, but that makes even less sense. What are you going to learn about Brantley in AAA-ball at this point? If we're going to be competitive in 2011, Brantley is going to be a big part of that, IMO. We have to see if he can mature into a big-league guy THIS year. You have to know what you have in a guy at this level before you can make any decisions about his worth in an arbitration situation (or free agency, for that matter). Putting that off a year by optioning him to Columbus isn't going to achieve that. Sheesh...

I could be wrong, but he looks like a Triple-A player to me ... I was hoping for the second coming of Kenny Lofton, but Brantley appears to have a slow bat to me. He needs to learn to slash the ball the opposite way, and to bunt, like Lofton and Vizquel when they were younger. When (if) his swing catches up to major league pitching, he can think about trying to pull the ball.

well he did hit .313 in 28 games last year. He was a big piece of the CC trade, and probably will be our center fielder of the future when grady departs.

Speaking of the CC trade, LaPorta is sucking canal water too.
I try not to put too much stock in how a player does after September call-ups. A lot of teams have mailed it in by then, and they are playing their younger players too.
We can afford to be patient, but if 1 out of 4 of your top prospects pans out, you're probably doing pretty well, I think.

What's everyone so upset about?
I'm upset that Peralta is still here, currently he is 5 for 37 with a .135 batting average. How is someone like that still on the team? Plus, he always looks like he doesn't care.

doesn't care? he has almost singlehandedly lost 3 games this year and our current 4 game win streak started when we benched him for a game to break our funk. it takes quite a bit of effort to have type of effect on a team.
