I am think more in lines with them wanting a credible starter while Ben serves a conduct suspension of 2-4 games.

The Steelers supposedly like Dixon, they re-signed Batch, and now they trade for Leftwich.
Maybe this means Ben will have a timely suspension or Ben is one step closer to Oakland. Oakland 1st rounder could land them a great o-lineman or CB.

I agree Peen. Signing Leftwich won't put any fear in the hearts of legit NFL starting QB's IMO
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Just another old man to beat. Somebody on here called him LeftHurt or somesuch because of injuries if I remember right, So if he gets hurt while Rotter is on suspension(s), who is the leader at the Ketchup Bowl?

jc...didn't knwo where to put this: from roto via Schefter
The Steelers have begun contacting teams to trade Ben Roethlisberger for a top-10 pick, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. This confirms yesterday's report from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and takes it a step further. Schefter says the Steelers are the ones being proactive, and there is at least one team considering a deal. It's starting to look like a real possibility that Roethlisberger will be serving his 4-6 game suspension somewhere other than Pittsburgh.

But here's a more realisitic question.
If the price would drop down to a 2nd round pick, would anyone here do it?

If the rapist ends up on the browns, I will forgo my fandom and start rooting for a new team. I dont want him on my team AT all. I would rather suffer through a season of Delbum chucking 5 ints a game then watch the rapist play in a browns uniform.

Pittsburgh would not trade him to us unlike McNabb who is older, Big Ben is in his prime. The Raiders, Seahawks, Rams or Bills are the teams I can see doing it if it happens

Just take a second and reflect on what you just asked here. I am disgusted in you. I wouldn't take him for a 7th rounder even if the steelers threw in their next 10 1st round picks.

I never said I would or wouldn't do it. Was just posing the question.

Without hesitation. I'd throw in our 2nd as well. Or maybe next years first. The guy has skills.

completely true. I'd do the trade in a heartbeat. He'd be the best QB we've had in decades. I think the steelers are crazy for even considering it.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will be suspended for four to six games on Wednesday for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy, multiple sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen and ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Well the Steelers do have a relatively easy schedule in the first 6 weeks.... their toughest games are against the Ravens in Pittsburgh and maybe Tennesee in Tenn.
Their easiest in against the Bye in week 5... unless suspensions don't count the teams bye week..

On the closed thread I guessed at least 4 games .....
6 would be an enormous suspension.
Eric Foster of the Colts has also been accused of sexual assault.
The NFL really is becoming the dirtbag league. People talk about thugs in the NBA, but the NFL has them beat hands down.
There have been what .... 10 incodents involving NFL players just this off-season? How many in the NBA or MLB combined in the last year? The gun incident is about the only 1 that comes immediately to mind.

I have another question. How happy would we all be if Roethlisberger was traded to a team that we play once a year max?
Raiders, Bills, Seahawks, etc. I don't care what team he goes to, just as long as we don't have to play him twice a year.

I would also like to add this .....
People make jokes about Mangini wanting players with character ..... as if this is some sort of bad thing. A great player who winds uo suspended for 4-8 weeks of the season does your team no good during the suspension. He also probably need a week or 2 to get back into game shape.
Give me a good player who doesn't get suspended, stays out of jail, and is a good teammate over a scummy dirtbag with a little more talent any day.

Not a fair comparison. The NBA has like what 10-15 players on a team and MLB teams have what 13-20 players. the NFL has 53 players per team. The only way a comparison would be valid is if you compared percentages.
Go Browns!!

Add together the NBA, MLB, and the NHL, and how many incidents have there been in the last 5 years combined?
How about in the NFL in just the past year alone?

MLB rosters have 25 players. Many players spend time between the majors and minors b/c of injuries. Alot of pitchers go up and down to keep arms fresh. So, typically about 35 or so players see playing time on a season and that's a conservative estimate.
