Fyi for anyone interested in this game, if you order it from Amazon you get a $20 gift card from Amazon and you can have it delivered on the day it comes out for about the same price you would pay to buy it at the store with tax ($65)
I think also get some sort of Gold Gun or something like that? Not sure what that is.

You can just go straight to the site.
Amazon is actually a great place to buy video games, for most new games they give you a $10 or $20 gift card for preorders. And then they have the release date shipping so you get it the day it comes out too.
I get most of my games now thru Amazon.

I have mine preordered at Gamestop. Apparently, if you preorder at Gamestop before the release date, you get the special edition (includes soundtrack and the deadly assassin outfit).
There will also be a 30 minute Red Dead Redemption special on the FOX network on Sunday, May 16. I don't know what time it will air.

I just saw this tonight advertised. Really interested in this as I love settings from older times since so many games are based on future or scifi.
Looks good!
Question - anyone know if the game will have a good solo story line? Many of these games have an alright solo game to play b/c it's now all about online multiplayer.

Ok, I'm in. I just ordered it.
I didn't pay for the "release date shipping" from Amazon. And now my projected shipping date is May 24th. Lame. Oh well, $60 game for $40. Good enough.
If it stinks I can sell it on eBay for $45-50 a week or two later.

Got mine preordered on Amazon to get those bonuses - mind as well get $20 back and some in game bonus.
Hopefully this game plays as good as the trailers look. Should be fun playing a game that isn't using scifi weaponry.

Been playing it since about 12:30 and it is awesome!!!!
Huge environment, lots of stuff to do and see. The game feels massive.
Been doing a lot of riding in the country and killing and skinning animals. I got mauled by a mountain lion while sneaking up on some bunny rabbits. SO far I've come acrossed rattlesnakes, rabbits, deer, skunks, birds, mountain lions, horse thieves, guys picking flowers. And there is stuff going on all over the place. I watched a kid get brought down by a pack of hungry coyotes. And some other guy got knocked off his horse by a bandit who then mounted and took off on dudes horse.
Collecting pelts is currently bringing in the dough. A few hands of Texas Hold-em brought in some cash flow too.
Graphics and the motion in this game are amazing. The story is unfolding slowly. Seems like this game will be quite an adventure.
I wish to wash my Irish wristwatch......

How the hell did you get out of the lion? Or did you? It mauled me last night and it ate me to death.

I play hockey with a couple Rockstar employees here in San Diego. One of them is an "art guy" and his sole responsibility was water (lakes/pools/whatever bodies of water are in the game). The only thing he worked on was making the water look and behave as real as possible. That really put in perspective how much work and attention to detail goes into these games. Mind-blowing is the best way I can describe it.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.
