Is anybody else having connection problems? Every time I try to play online, it kicks me off before I can even play. It takes me to a loading screen, and gets stuck there until I go back to the dashboard and start all over again.

No problems connecting here. My only problems are breaking a damn horse after I lasso it, wife and daughter laughed their asses of for about 30 minutes watching me get bucked off time after time.

Ok something very cool happened last night ...

*** Spoiler ***

after getting into Mexico, I arrived just at sunset, rode my horse up over the ridge of the mountain, and the game's in game music featured Jose Gonzalez, one of my favorite musicians! awesome, awesome moment.

I stumbled across some snakes yesterday and skinned them up good! lol

One bit me and knocked me back but did not kill me.

Only way I found them was walking around some random field and stumbled on a little cluster of them. Had no idea snakes were even there.

Also did the machine gun mission of going down the shaft and stuff, that was fun.

This game just keeps unlocking and opening more stuff.

Very fun game! Glad I got this one!

Very nice. I thought the one aspect of RDR that was not going to appeal to me was the use of firearms. However, I think it's more fun than GTA4 because it seems much more real. Plus, Dead Eye is great!

getting into Mexico was the highlight of the game so far for me.

and yeah. the firearms are real. red eye is amazing. i love hitting a deer in mid jump right in the head. or when you are getting chased on horseback, nailing the guys horse right in the head with dead eye and watching that guy fly ... that's a great feeling and my favorite part of the game so far

and yeah, when i am getting chased, i shoot the enemy's horses instead of the guys. i call it "strategy" lol. sometimes in the head, sometimes in the legs.

I beat four NPC's in poker last night:) I only earned an extra $100 but it was worth it. In addition, my horse was shot by outlaws after i accepted a bounty and hogtied the wanted man. So, I had to carry him all the way back to jail while shooting his "crew" when they appeared. The bad thing was, it was a Kentucky Saddler - the best horse in the game! Nuts!

Yeah I was kind of thinking/hoping the same thing, GTA 4 took 6 months to be released for PC after it was for consoles.

You pick it up in Mexico after a few missions with Desanto (sp?).

Thanks!

I made it to Mexico, but only briefly. Found a semi-automatic hand gun.

This game just keeps uncovering stuff to do. I am very happy that the storyline is strong and you can spend time on it as most games revolve around the online multiplayer so the storylines are weak. Not the case with RDR.

I really want to play this game!! I might be picking it up today.

I loved the first one and I've been very excited to play this, the buzz you guys have given this game has pretty much sold it on me alone. Glad to see it has so much depth and it sounds like it's very diverse as well.

What first one? I think this is the first installment of RDR, maybe I am wrong.

Yeah, the first one was called Red Dead Revolver, it came out for original Xbox (and maybe PS2) and it was a rather straight forward shoot-em-up kind of western. It was a bit more silly you were up against some more supernatural elements, it was more linear (with levels and bosses) and there wasn't nearly as much to it. As usual, Rockstar has really outdone themselves and I hope they can do the same with Max Payne 3

I picked up Redemption yesterday and gave it a play for a couple of hours. It's a far superior game.

The only elements from the original that have remained are the name (Red Dead) the dead eye technique and the dueling is pretty much the same except they've tweaked it a little bit.

If you've got an original xbox and you can find it for cheap I'd recommend it, it's a pretty fun game but Red Dead Redemption is superior in every single way.

I love the open world, I got horse jacked already. Skinning animals is amusing, I want to find some more duels. I've got a bounty to hunt. There's so much to do and I like how epic the scope of this game feels. I'm picking up Backbreaker today but it may be a while until I give it a just play because Red Dead Redemption has pretty much blown me away, It far exceeded my expectations.

Almost done with the storyline mode, real interested to see how this ends. I thought I was finished (based on what was happening in the story) but then checked and still had just over 30% left still to complete. I dont want to give anything away so I wont say anything else. Absolutely love this game though, its a blast.

I read about it in Game Informer, the first one was made by Capcom. Rockstar purchased the rights and put the GTA engine to it.

Ok, so I just finished the story, good stuff, really enjoyed it. Still only 75% though. Need to go finish up some side missions and challenges, going to try and complete 100%.

That makes a lot of sense. I could've swore Rockstar had some involvement with the first game, maybe they just distributed the game rather than producing it. Ah well.

Either way, I still enjoyed the first game

Just beat it....Towards the end the last few missions get boring. However, the end is absolute must see. Also this game has one of the greatest finale songs ever.

I'm still only on the first map (Armadillo/McFarlane's Ranch etc) and so far this game has been pure excellence. I love all the stuff you can do with it and the stories the Game takes you on are all unique, interesting and true to the Wild West spirit. This game is a 10/10 for sure!

I haven't played this game all week and am missing it very much....Since most of you posters have bought the game, what do you guys think? Is it one of the best console games you have ever played? IMHO, RDR is up there near the top but it's not the best.

Yeah I put a couple hundred hours on that game.

The online racing was a blast until the hacking got out of control on the pc version.

I guess as this thread has died down, so to has my playing of RDR. It's a great game no doubt but as w/ any game the interest in it subsides a bit.

I would like to at least finish the story mode before it heads to the dust pile. I doubt I will complete the game fully.

I completed the story so I definiteley havent played it as much, but I still play it a lot as I am trying to get 100% completion, although Im not sure I will be able to hit that. I am at around 85% right now, working on the challenges right now.
