Im ok with how I am being perceived. I just thought it was an odd thing to state. I am in the minority in thinking that and I am ok with it. Ya know, whatever helps me sleep tonight.

While we are picking apart people's dating practices, why don't you date pygmies? Is it because of your undying love for DC?

Not repling to anyone in general, but why do people get in trouble for saying that they dont like a certain group of people? People should be aloud to speak their mind. That what is so great about this country. If someone disagrees with the comments, then they should stay clear of this individual.

By your logic then... shouldn't Tim Hardaway just steer clear of gay people and keep his mouth shut? Isn't it the same argument?

See, this is what gets me. They only use the "free speech" thing for the guy making the first derogatory comment. They don't, however, believe anybody has a right to react to his comment. They act like this guy is a freaking victim. GMAFB.

My My Space says I don't date black, white, yellow, or green men.

Just kidding...it doesn't actually say anything about who I date.

Yes, let's go through the sequence of events......

Basketball player writes a book, announces he's gay. (certainly within his free speech rights)

Another basketball player says bad things about gay people (also within his free speech rights)

Some people take exception to what homophobic basketball player says (these people need to shut up because....)

Other people take exception to those taking exception (which evidently is again, within their free speech rights)

So if you're keeping score, everybody has free speech rights, except those who are actually critical of the homophobe.... is that the way you see it Jules?

Kinda like the Dixie Chicks 4 years ago, or so.

They had every right to say what they said (natalie, actually), no one argued that. I found it humerous when they complained (and many others, as well) that they were getting "blackballed" for what they said.

So, they can say what they want, but they complain when they are responded to?

Same with Hardaway - he can think, and speak, what he wants on this subject, or any subject. No problem. But he also needs to realize that society will use his "opinion" for him and/or against him.

He realized that, after he said it, and that's why he has "apologized". He's hoping to dig himself out of the hole he dug, but not cause he's truly sorry, but rather, because he sees future income dropping exceedingly fast.

People can say what they want, but people also need to realize that they can't just "take it back" if it doesn't suit them later.

I suppose next we'll here that Hardaway is seeking treatment for alcohol, or something like that.

Jules honey, I know you don't "date"... She didn't put it in " "..... that's why I did... because I was using her word but not in the typical context...

What's wrong, did I forget to apologize this morning?

Yep, the dixie chicks is a perfect example also. The people who cried and whined were the Bush haters. Just like the gay haters are crying about his freedom of speech. Exactly the same.

Uh, I think you're trying to be smart here, but the fact of the matter is the Chicks complained, and a few of their fans complained "the stations are blackballing the chicks cause of what they said, and they have every right to say it..........freedom of speech..."

See, what I'm getting at is: everyone can speak their mind, no matter what it is, but they should not complain when others speak their mind concerning the original statements. Can't have it both ways.

Lemme spell it out for you: What hardaway said is obviously what he thinks/feels. That's all well and good, but he, and those speaking in his defense need to realize that he said it, he meant it, and he should have to deal with whatever comes as a result.

We have a right to free speech, and others have a right to act according to what we speak.

With the chicks, the stations were acting out their right to not play the chicks - that's all fair and legal, even though the chicks got upset (and a few of their fans).

With hardaway, he said what he said, and he meant it, which is fine, but he also needs to be "man" enough to realize he offended some people.

With the chicks, the proof was in the pudding - their sales went down, they cancelled concerts - they went down hill (although they are apparently now back).

Same for Hardaway - he said it, he meant it - now, he has to deal with the consequences. What those may be, I don't know, as he's really not a "public persona" anymore, I don't think he has any products out people can boycott (like the chicks did).....but regardless, any "apology" he makes should not stop people from liking him for what he said, or disliking him for what he said.
