and now we've lost intensity and are giving up EASY looks at the basket...
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Need more aggression in this second half. We need to take advantage of the foul situation. This is LBJs job to do. Go to the hoop. Somebody also needs to knock Rondo on his but.

One of those games where you feel if they can grab the lead, they will be gone. Just got to get over the hump.

if this becomes a 2 or 3 point game, i like our chances, because lbj and antawn are both beating their guys. even mo is getting some penetration.

Even in this close game ... I would take a bad turnover out-of-bounds if it resulted in Shaq diving for the ball and smashing straight into Jeff Van Gundy's face. I'm not even sure Tommy Henderson can be this annoying. Hope they can get one of those good fourth quarter rolls going here.

celtics got away with murder on that 10-0 run to start the 4th, they weren't calling fouls when our guys drove to the hoop, so they stopped driving.
let's get this next one.

another half-assed game from the cavs and lebron they did the exact opposite as the last game, they didn't attack, lebron would pound the ball for 10 seconds and make a crap pass or turnover..i mean 2 point game and you have AV shooting 18 footers, thats on lebron, you absolutely can't make that pass when parker open on the baseline. This series is over if MB and his defensive genius can't find a way to scheme to stop rondo..cavs sleepwalked this game again. Not sure what's happened in the playoffs, we've seen more lack of effort games in the 2 series than the whole year. Turnovers killed us and our Defense was laughable, seriously, i saw rondo just step around our bigs atleast 5 times, you have to take that foul, especially on rondo, he's a bad FT shooter and his 165lb body isn't going to take that many hits. But we just let him dance right in. The only person on the celts really hurting us is Rondo. Other than Jamison/JJ getting burned over and over by garnett. But that's KG he does that to about everyone. Just didn't see any intensity today. They had to know Boston wasn't going to lay down

we got away with just as much as they did...this isn't on the refs, they called a bad game for both sides, it seemed they favored whoever had the momentum at the time.

during that 10-0 run our guys got hacked 3 or 4 times, and the result was boston just running out and getting a layup, it happened over and over during that stretch.
i agree, outside of that it was equally bad on both sides

Actually pretty much agree with everything you said. Lebron seemed pretty passive (especially on defense). Add to that, we couldn't hit any outside shots, the refs weren't giving us any help, and Boston had the crowd behind them ... it just didn't seem like there was any way we were winning this one.
This game sort of showed why West and Hickson don't start. West went 0-7 from the floor, and 0-3 from threeland. He doesn't offer any threat from deep, so they just sag on him (similar to how we do with Rondo) and it clogs the lane for Lebron. Hickson can't create any other shot other than what Lebron can create for him, and he's a liability on D.

We were horrendous this game.
No passion, no aggresiveness, no nothing.
I'm not one to blame anyone person or thing, but our gameplan sucked today. it seems like we continue to try and do what works over and over again, and if we are not shooting well that plan sucks.
I put this game on LeBron actually. They took away his bread and butter and he looked confused most of the game. LBJ was not on his game at all today and it hurt us.
panic button is not on. Yet. I have to say though, if we let Boston be more aggresive than us, we will lose this series.
It was disgusting watching Boston winning all of the 50/50 balls tonight. We did not look like we wanted to win at all tonight.

I agree, must protect home floor. I expected this to be a 6 or 7 game series anyway so we're right about where I thought we would be.
I didn't expect us to roll a veteran championship team 2 games in a row on their home floor. Although we did have a good chance to take this one the way it looked after 3 quarters. I must say though, it was like the refs let the crowd get in their heads when obvious reach-ins that were being called earlier all of a sudden became no calls to start the 4th.
Oh well, that's the NBA. We should get a few calls to go our way on our floor late in the next game.

i can't believe he drove and kicked to a wide open varejao late in the game when it was still either a 2 or 4 point game, you can't do that. it's not fair to andy. that guy should not be taking anything other than a putback or a desperation shot, or a layup in the final minutes of any game, let alone a playoff road game.
lbj was overall not great today. the defense today was just not good enough. we could not get stops, and constantly played from behind. like i mentioned, the refs really killed us in the beginning of the 4th, but mike brown can put to several areas of the game where we should be better. not can, should.

LeBron has to decide ... is he a wolf or a sheep?
This is so typical of Cleveland sports. Lucky enough to get the player of a generation. But said player has no killer instinct.
I thought I saw a real change in LeBron this year in regards to that. There were times when you looked at him and said "there's no way the Cavs are losing". I thought he was finally starting to come into his own in that regard. Maybe he just can't sustain it for several games at a time.
He sure liked tooting his own horn on a couple of those shots though. It was so not fitting to his overall effort. I am honestly beginning to wonder if this guy gets it. Legacies start and end in the playoffs, not the regular season.
This team lost today because of LeBron. If he wants to win, the Cavs will win. If not, they won't.

i'm not worried yet, but the pressure is definitely on for this next one.
it's the first true must win so far this season. i wasn't buying that game 3 was a must win, in all truth a split would be good enough, but now it's on. the bell is being rung.

Well guys, the way I see it, championships are not easy to win. We are going to have to endure matchups like this if we want to win a championship.
During Boston's '08 title run, they went 7 games in the first round vs. Atlanta, then 7 against us in round two.
I have no clue what happens next. All we can hope for is win on Tuesday.

I agree. It's just that when they lose, I'd like to see LeBron's guns out of bullets. I think everyone could sleep a lot easier knowing the Cavs lost with an honest effort.
This guy wants to be a billiionaire. He wants to be most recognizable athlete in the world. He wants to be remembered in the same breath as guys like Jordan.
Jordan would never play so passive ... ever. He always lost after he was out of bullets and his knives were bent. He set the tone for his teams and they either followed or got off the floor. He could do that because his skill was that good.
LeBron's skill is that good. He needs to decide how he wants this to play out.

I find it extraordinarily maddening that they lapsed for a couple of minutes and let the C's get 4 fastbreak layups. One of which was by Glen Davis, the slowest man on the floor at the time (Shaq was sitting). Inexcusable. This was a big difference in the game.
The second thing that drove me nuts was allowing Tony Allen to score 14 points largely unchallenged. This happened in the 2nd game with Rasheed Wallace; he was left wide open a number of times just b/c the D was slow to rotate, or lazy. These guys are all pros, and just b/c a guy doesn't average 20 points per game doesn't mean you can leave him alone and he will not score when wide open.
The final thing that seems like its worth a look: either Pluto or Windy suggested that they should have tried Moon on Rondo at some point. I understand he would be a downgrade at the offensive end as far as outside shooting, but he is more athletic and quicker than anyone on the Cavs, aside from Lebron. I think he could at least slow Rondo more than AP can. Esp. when AP ran out of gas in the 4th.
I will give credit where it is due though; Rondo was terrific today.

I mentioned this before, but I think it needs mentioning again.
I could be wrong, but to me it's starting to look more and more like this team is built for regular season success and not the playoffs. I hate to keep harping on this, but LeBron has to set the tone ... he has no second fiddle. A deep bench is great to have in the regular season, but you win in the playoffs with your stars. The Cavs have one All-Star caliber player ... that's it.
Let's see how the rest of this plays out, but if the Cavs get past the Celtics, it will not be any easier against the Magic. And if they happen to get past the Magic, it won't be any easier against the Lakers.

I've gone back and forth on the guy in the last few years ... love the defense he instilled in this team ...
...but far too often he often has that Romeo Crennel, 'I won a contest to be here' vibe when it comes to crucial adjustments and decisions.

1. did tony allen even take a jumper today? i could be wrong, but it seemed like every single one of his baskets was a layup or reverse layup
2. have we tried moon on rondo yet? i don't recall seeing him check rondo, and he hasn't really played that much. don't know if it could work, but we haven't seen that yet i don't think.
this is what the playoffs are about though. the cavs knew this was gonna be a long series before it even started, i said 6-7 and it sure looks like it's gonna be just that.

This is all on LeBron, unless Brown told him NOT to take control like he did in Game Three.
That's all there is to it. He has to be stopped,...and he has to stop Rondo. Why is is he not on Rondo ??
When LeBron IS stopped, it's because of a double and someone esle has GOT to put it in.
Where is Shaq ?
We should have won this game.

I agree with just about all of the analysis here. Not too much more to add. I figured it'd come back to Cleveland tied at 2. Good news is that Boston has to take another one from us on our home court to win it, and thats real tough to do.

If we continue to play this garbage defense, they just may.
And if we get past Boston, we won't get past Orlando playing up and down like this. Orlando is dominating right now.

And LeBron had how many ? 22,...Meaningless.
I don't care about just "points." Basketball is a two-way street. We need the defense. LeBron should be forcing the issue, ala Three. Make THEM play defense, if we're not going to.
This series should already be over,...at a minimum, 3-1. And the way Boston has out-hustled the Cavs, it could easily be 3-1 Celtics.
Anyhow,...2 more at home, but Five is a must win.

No we didn't have moon on rondo, but this much i'm sure, had we seen moon on him, i don't think rondo hurts us on the boards as bad as he does..and jamario's length would help stay in front more. As far as shaq sitting in the 4th, i think theres trouble brewing there. Im looking for a link but from what Terry Pluto said, lebron asked for shaq in the 4th and Brown said no, and shaq refused to talk to reporters. The way I look at it, Brown was a young coach with a young team..he don't have the ability to manage these vets, maybe we need a vet coach. I truly believe if we don't win it all this year, Brown is gone unless lebron says he has to stay for a stipulation for him to resign, i don[t see lebron saying that.

yeah lbj had 22, but the real story was 0-5 in 3's and 7 turnovers, i don't care how many points you get 7 turnovers in a game is D league

I'd be interested in seeing jawad or boobie on rondo, what we've tried so far don't work, if they are already dressing, give them a few minutes each on him, hell he plays 43 minutes anyways, so he'll always be out there.

just curious, for giggles, say Mike Brown was fired, and lebron resigned. Who do you got to replace him? Cal? Fratello? Silas(lol, had too), Mike K? who?

nrtu I really hate with LBJ dribbles at the top of the key like that. He is so much better when he's instinctive. He can stop and pop one up and be great at it. When he dribbles around and then fires one up......it might go in but you never know. Same with his drives. When he just Makes a move and goes strong he gets points/fouls. When he dribbles for 20 seconds and then makes a move we lose more often than not.
