What did everyone think about it? I thought it was good, it left open the option for a movie I guess from what I've heard or read.

I thought the ending was perfect. Honestelly I thought President Taylor was worse than Logan during the finale but she came through at the end

Pretty much the best ending possible. Open for movies, Jack's on the run... lots of future possibilties, if they wish to pursue them.

I was quite satisfied. A nicely crafted finale to a real ground-breaking series.

I have only seen one or two regular episodes, but I watched because the advertising made it sound good. I enjoyed it! It was two hours of pretty good television. Lots of thrills and some good plot twists.

Just to remind those who missed the final episodes of Lost or 24 .... they are available on Hulu.

Sutherland Reveals '24' Movie Plans
13 April 2006
WENN

Hollywood actor Kiefer Sutherland has confirmed popular TV drama 24 is to hit the big screen. Sutherland, who plays federal agent Jack Bauer on the show, recently joked a spoof version would make great cinema viewing. But he now tells MTV.com plans for a straight blockbuster film are already in motion. He says, "The 24 movie would be a two-hour representation of a 24-hour day. That would be the first time that we would not do something in real time, but the characters would obviously all be derivative of the show. The timing issue is something the writers are working on right now. But the sky's the limit at that point for them, because we would not be restricted by the time element."

thought the ending was ok, i dunno why but for the entire time i watched the series, i always imagined when they decided to end it, that jack would go out in a blaze of glory.

but i think the ending is probably fitting. great series.

now i have just about all of the last season of lost to watch. i'm way behind. i don't watch many tv shows so i guess i can take my time.

I agree that this was a 'safe' exit. Finally had some time to watch it.

It's completely open to bridge over to a movie or whatever. Not sure I will be paying $9/ticket to see it at a movie, but I would like to see it on DVD.

As a side note, someone mentioned Flash Forward is done too! Can't believe it!

That's a full list of canceled shows.

A list of cancelled shows .... (Edit) Guess i got beat to the list ......

I'm not going to post them all because there are 84 shows. My poor mom is going to go nuts now. They cancelled Guiding Light ... which was one of her soaps .... and now As The World turns is on its way out too.

Heroes is done. They mention a special "event" to wrap up the series.

Dollhouse is done. I didn't watch a single episode on television ... but loved the season 1 DVD. Guess I'll probably get season 2 when it comes out.

Law and Order is history.

Monk .. another of my mther's favorites is hitting rerun heaven.

Wanda Sykes got cancelled. Darn.

I hated Flash Forward. Fantastic premise w/ horrible writing. CORNY . . .

Here's an article on 24. Apparently, they considered killing Jack midseason. . .

'24' showrunner talks series finale

By Matthew Belloni

"24" showrunner Howard Gordon has been with the real-time thriller from the beginning. Here he talks about Monday's finale (which he wrote), his favorite season, and the plans for the "24" movie. (Warning: spoilers galore)...

THR: So Jack lives. I know you’ve got the movie planned, but how much did you seriously consider killing him in the finale?

Gordon: We certainly considered it. We considered killing him earlier (in the season) as an off-rhythm thing. But every time we went there and penciled it out, it didn’t feel satisfying. It felt frustrating or it felt
affected or something.

THR: What about killing other characters like Chloe or Kim Bauer?

Gordon: We have to save some people for the movie!

THR: Right. What’s the status update for that?

Gordon: Another draft is being written (by screenwriter Billy Ray). I don’t have a timetable. I think sooner rather than later is a good idea, but the people at Fox have their own timetable.

THR: Is the plan to bring back series regulars other than Jack?

Gordon: Right now, yes it is (the plan) but because it is a fluid (situation), I don’t know. It is still in the early stages.

THR: In your mind, where does Jack go when he takes off in that final scene?

Gordon: In my mind, Jack is cut free but again he is a nomad. He’s a man without a country. The very country that he has served and obviously sacrificed everything for has basically spit him out again and he is a fugitive. If you look at all of the (season) endings that we’ve had, to me it was important not to repeat ourselves. I don’t think Jack has ever actually left as a fugitive, wanted and unwelcome on his own shores.

THR: Where does he go? We know he can't go to China.

Gordon: Can’t go to China, can’t go to Russia, and he probably can’t go to Africa either.

THR: You wrote the finale. Did you consult with series creators Joel Surnow and Bob Cochran?

Gordon: I talked to Bob just briefly and sort of told him, “Here’s what I am doing.” They said “Sure.”

THR: Bringing Gregory Itkin back for the final episodes was a nice bone to throw us fans. Is Season 5 with President Logan and his wife your favorite?

Gordon: Yeah it is, it really is. There is something about that season that, just everything was working, it fired on all cylinders. It’s funny because I always tell Dennis Haysbert (President Palmer) who didn’t want to participate when I told him (that Palmer would be assassinated in the first episode). I took him out to breakfast and basically begged him to do it, because he said he really had a problem with it because he thought it was putting something very distasteful on the air: the assassination of a black president. But the whole season really was motivated by that death, so even though he died ten minutes into the episode, the entire season kept on drawing from this tragedy that was so defined and so specific. Unfortunately
he was the sacrificial lamb for the emotional current of the entire season.

THR: Some of the other “24” producers have joined new shows like “The Event” and “Terra Nova” but you haven’t. Why?

Gordon: I’m taking a little bit of a break. I am working on a pilot based on this Israeli show called “POWs.” It’s a drama about POWs returning from Syria in the Israeli version, and ours has a little bit more of a twist, more of a political thriller twist to it. I’m writing it with (”24” producer) Alex Gansa.

THR: I thought it was interesting that Steven Spielberg hired “24” guys for “Terra Nova,” a futuristic show with dinosaurs.

Gordon: I don’t know him but I met Spielberg once and I heard from multiple sources that he is a tremendous “24” fan. To the point where he has not missed an episode.

THR: What’s been your proudest moment on the show?

Gordon: Finishing the show, trying to deliver an honest and satisfying ending. Because in a show that is about real time and a story that’s as dense and serialized as this, how you end it really is probably the
greatest trick of all. So this moment really had the most impact for me.

There is a lot shows that have been cancled. I'm pissed about Legend of the Seeker. The problem with most shows is they don't count DVR/TiVo viewers. I think they really need to change the way they advertise and start including DVRers.

They didn't give me a 3rd season of Sarah Conner Cronicles and now I don't get a 3rd season of Legend of the Seeker. Season two ended pretty good.

Oh well at least Justified and Big Love isn't on that list.

My ultimate "WHY did it get canceled" show is Arrested Development. That show was pure comedy gold.

Glad I didn't watch Deadwood. Sounds like it had the makings of a classic and it just ended.

My most recent per peeve was the cancellation of The Unit.

Still miss Snake Doctor, Betty Blue, Hammerhead (r.i.p), Cool Breeze, Dirt Diver.... even Whiplash and Red Cap.

A cool show with a great premise and fine actors.

Still bummed.

God yes, The Unit was a fantastic show and I was angry that it was canceled. It was the most realistic portrayal of military life and soldiers I'd ever seen on TV, and it had pretty good plots on top of it. When I heard it was canceled I had my fingers crossed they would do one final episode or a made for TV movie at least to wrap it up but it never happened.

I liked Heroes, though less and less as the seasons went on. I'm scared for Chuck, a show I have recently adopted as one of my favorites. A lot of people I know like it but I was told it was in ratings trouble.

I agree about the DVR thing. That's the only way I am able to watch TV with the way my life is, me and the significant other don't watch much TV but when we do outside of a live sporting event its always recorded and watched when we can make free time to sit down for an hour or two together.

And I just skimmed that list of canceled shows and didn't see any reality shows on it, teenage girls are killing TV

For the life of me I can't think why they haven't done anything about the DVR issue. Most of the shows I see being cancled are shows that are in the 18-35 demo range. Out of all the demographs that is the one more than likley to DVR thier shows.

Here's an idea, stop making 30second commercials and string a bunch of them together where it's a 3min commercial break. How about you cut the commercial to 5 seconds. Spread them out and only show two at a time. If it was only a ten second commercial break then I highley doubt many people will be willing to hit the fast forward button. By the time you grab the remote the commercial break will be half over.

That's just one idea, how about having Banner ads? Every now and then the screen will shrink and there will be a Banner ad scrolling across the screen. There are other ways of comming up with a solution to the DVR issue. IIRC the Sarah Conner Chronicles would of had pretty good ratings if they included the DVR'ers. But without them they ended up on the Cancellation chopping block. (Again this was a 18-35 demo show and in the second season they moved it to Friday night at 8pm and they wondered why the ratings tanked)

I wonder how many other shows would still be running if they looked at the true numbers?

I don't understand how they decide what a person with cable watches anyway.

If I have a cable box, and leave it on ESPN most of the time ...... and leave it turned on while I go away to work ..... does that show me as watching ESPN for the 11 or 12 hours I am gone? If I were to DVR 2 shows at the same time .... would whichever show the box decided to switch to be the show that gets the "credit" for my viewership .. while the other is just out of luck?

I don't have to worry about that anymore .... because I ditched the cable ..... but I just have to wonder how that works.

I'm not sure, I know Neilson use to have boxes that gave them data. So lets say they have 2000 home out there and they give the show a 10.1 then 10.1% of the Nielson boxes watched that show. But a freind of mine that works for Time Warner said that it is much different now because the Cableboxes/Satelite boxes also know what you watched and how long you watched a specific channel. From what he told me they compile that data and send it to Nielson.

I liked The Unit.. I was a big 24 fan but I think its time had come. The one show on that list I'm going to miss, maybe the most, is Saving Grace.

Damn I can't believe Law and Order is coming to an end. That's almost as big of a deal to me as the simpsons being canceled. They need to cancel the cleveland show though. It's absolute crap compared to family guy. Also I'm kind of nervous because my faivorite show House is probabally on it's last legs

Also I think reality TV is going to start pushing more male viewers away.

Back to 24...I cant say im completely sure how i feel about the ending...other than sad. I'm sad that i wont get excited about upcoming seasons or the next weeks show.

I thought it was too easy the way it ended. It made sense but it seemed too simple. the president rights her way, jack gets let free, and everyone understands what happened. I was hoping for something diabolical to be involved in the ending, other than Charles Logan bowing out on his own, that was cheap. Just everything seemed too easy in my opinion.

It fit, but it wasnt difficult. im sure it was difficult to come up with but it seemed too easy.
