(CNN) -- Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young was cited with misdemeanor assault for his alleged involvement in an altercation at a Dallas, Texas, strip club early Sunday, according to police.

Young, 27, is accused of striking another man in the face, causing an injury to his lip, after the two got into an argument, an incident report by the Dallas Police Department said. The man did not require medical attention, according to the report.

Police responded to the incident at 3:30 a.m. Sunday at Club Onyx, described on its website as an upscale "urban gentlemen's club" and adult entertainment venue.

The assault charge against Young is punishable upon conviction by a fine of up to $500, Dallas police spokesman Lt. Andy Harvey said.

Young was issued the citation after detectives interviewed witnesses and reviewed video of the incident, Harvey said.

CNN's efforts to reach Titans officials for comment were unsuccessful Sunday evening.

Titans spokesman Robbie Bohren told The Tennessean newspaper that the team is aware of the incident and had contacted Young. Bohren said the club is still gathering information, The Tennessean reported.

Young, a Houston native and graduate of the University of Texas, was drafted to Tennessee's NFL team in 2006.

You would think they'd learn ....

But .... an argument, in a bar, with one guy punched in the lip? Pretty mild stuff there.

Talk about lowered standards. I actually was relieved just to see that it wasn't another sexual assault case. Those have been popping up more than I'd like...

I'd like to (Hey! No cover... why not?) be a fly on the wall at the club to hear what was said to warrant the knuckle sandwhich.

if I was a Titan fan, then I wouldn't be happy he was out all night at strip clubs.

but I sure wouldn't care he landed a punch on another guy (and be very glad this wasn't another female assualt of the sexual or physical variety)

Why?

Outside of the potential crapstorm that could happen to anyone being out late....I don't get why you should care what he does in the offseason if he's a single guy with some extra cash laying around.

----and that's a playful "why". I'm not grilling you.

just because I hold football players to a higher standard than the rest of society. even if they prove time and time again they operate on a lower one

sounds a lot like a personal problem to me

I actually know what you mean.. I don't hold them to a higher standard,, just the same standard I hold myself and my neighbors too.. That means,, if you go to a bar,, strip or other wise, get control of yourself.. don't be foolish...

I wouldn't say I hold them to a higher standard.. but I understand the differences. I can go to bars and strip clubs as often as I want and as a rule, as long as I stay in control of myself, there is no problem.. but I'm not a household name with a target on my back like some of these athletes.. they need to understand that it's different for them, they need to accept that difference and be responsible about it. Flashing your bling and your cash and expecting to be treated like royalty is bound to rub some folks the wrong way and could get some "normal" guys a little riled up.

Disclaimer: I have no idea if that is what happened here or not, just saying that these celebs and athletes need to understand that they can't have it both ways, you can't go out and party like a rockstar wanting to be the center of attention and then complain when you ARE the center of attention...

It is old fashioned you.. I'm old fashioned too but I don't think any Browns players need to be my moral compass or the moral compass of a city or for the kids... they are horny young men with a boat load of cash.. heck I wish they would all be choir boys off the field too but it ain't going to happen.. I just hope they conduct themselves well when they are out at strip clubs or wherever.

The players on my team should be able to go do all the same things I could do on a Saturday night. And like me, they need to keep their head. If I got into a fight because some guy scuffed my shoes, I'll spend the night in the slam and might embarrass my family. They might do the same....but will get their name all over the front page. So, they aren't held to a higher standard....but a bad decision/situation will haunt them longer than it will haunt me. If they're mindfull of that fact, then they should try to stay cleaner than me.

As long as their careful, they can attend all the bars, strip joints, and casino's they want. It is afterall a free country.

Agreed.

And it's not "the amount of money" they make - it's the fame they have. I don't begrudge a person that makes $10 million a year - if they found a job that pays that, good for them.

But most of the time, a job that pays big bucks requires a bit more self restraint, so to speak, due to the fame and name recognition that comes with it.
