Wow .... England have been terrible. BUT if England beat Slovenia we are in the last 16 I still believe the 2 qualifiers from our group will be England and USA.

Italy 1 - New Zealand 1
Who would have thought that could happen? The announcers said it was the most lopsided matchup of this world cup. WOW
Can't wait to see Brazil and the Ivory Coast in a few hours.

Results like this make me nervous about our next game with Algeria.
The Swiss beating Spain, England tying Algeria, and New Zealand tying Italy are all examples of how the underdogs aren't mailing it in.
Too bad our game is on Wednesday morning though. I'd like to get sauced up for it.
While I picked Germany to win it all, Paraguay has looks very good so far (tying Italy and beating Slovakia). Well, the Netherlands and Argentina look better....but looking at all the other 4 point teams, Paraguay seems like the best of that bunch.

That's like a seasons worth of scores for most teams.

Fail.
The game was actually quite even until the first goal, if anything North Korea looked the more dangerous team. Just after half time Portugal scored 2 within a few minutes and then the floodgates opened.

If I'm from North Korea, I'm thinking that even if we win every match 100-1.

I was a reading a while ago about the North Korean players, and if they escape their entire familes will be put into camps for the rest of their lives, and even their kids will be forced to live there. Its amazing the world lets that man continue to rule that country.

their striker Jong Tae-Se is from Japan and he went to North Korea to play in their league and joined their professional team. Who would willingly go live in North Korea?

did he lose a golf bet to Jong-il? perhaps he didn't hear that every drive is a hole-in-one?

Ok, France is a joke, more than usual. They are letting RSA explode on them (2-0) and it's not even halftime yet.
And with Uruguay beating Mexico 1-0, assuming no more goals are scored, RSA and Mexcio would both have 4 points and three forced goals. But Mexico has a +1 goal differential and RSA has a -1. So, does RSA need to score two more goals to even have a chance?

The ranking of each team in each group will be determined as follows:
a) greatest number of points obtained in all group matches; b) goal difference in all group matches; c) greatest number of goals scored in all group matches. If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the above three criteria, their rankings will be determined as follows: d) greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned; e) goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned; f) greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the teams concerned; g) drawing of lots by the FIFA Organising Committee.
Ok, got this from above. So they really need two more goals to tie the #2 tiebreaker to get to #3...which they would have more total goals.
Wow.....go RSA in the 2nd half!
EDIT....or Uruguay to keep scoring goals to lower Mexico's goal differential.

agreed. RSA making the 16 would be the story of the Cup. GO RSA!
(especially with the other African countries spitting the bit for the most part)

Whoooooo hooooo!
To be fair, Nigeria is only 0-2 because a Greek player is a great actor and they had to play 10 on 11 for most of that match. But still....

Ya, I forgot about that Greek jerkhole and his horrible acting job. Though, he did try kicking him. Anyway... Whoooo hooooo! Go South Korea!!!! 1-1 Funny, the ESPN Gamecast says Argentina has 6 shots to Greece's zero and owns roughly 80% of the possession. Is the field/pitch tilted down towards Greece's end? 80% possession is sick...like a typical Browns game.

but they haven't scored.
Greece has been out-classed in every match so far. they were lucky to survive with an extra man against Nigeria.
but, at the same time, tied up with Argentina so far....a Nigeria goal from somehow sneaking into the 16.

Korea 2-1 now. All is almost lost for Greece as they need a 2-goal swing at this point to advance between the 2 games.
(still gasping for air though)

2-2 now. Nigeria with a penalty kick.
South Korea better not blow this. My bracket has South Korea and not many other people picked that.

Three wins for Argentina too.

I wanted South Korea to win but as the game went on I swapped sides. Nigeria seemed to try and power thru tackles more often than not whereas SK would flop sometimes at the slightest touch. But Nigeria couldn't hit the broad side of a barn and deserved the exit...

Italy bounced! WOW!
Paraguay and Slovakia advance! Who had that predicted? I had Slovakia but as the #2 behind Italy.
Italy and France....the two teams from the last Cup's final, both out before the round of 16. Crazy!

Italy and France weren't favorites, but were expected to advance past the group stage. Spain was considered the favorite, at least in European betting houses. And they can be bounced tomorrow too (if the Swiss beat Honduras and Chile beats or ties Spain).
It's really too bad the first two games of the group stage aren't played like the last ones. It seems like each team still has a chance and are forced to put up goals to secure or raise their goal differential. It makes for exciting games. The first games of the Group stage usually have each team too afraid to put themselves in a hole and just draw each other.
Oh well.
The games this afternoon should be decent too. Denmark HAS to win to get in. We'll get to see them take some chances. Japan can play prevent for a tie....but if Denmark scores, Japan will be in Denmark position then. Score to win. The Netherlands/Cameroon game is worthless. Cameroon can't advance but will be playing for pride and the Netherlands can't lower their goal differential too far. So, there may be some goals there too.
My tee time got moved back even further for Saturday. So there's no way I'm watching a second of the US game. I tee off at 12:30 central (game starts at 1:30 central). Oh well, hopefully someone has a live feed on their phones.
