I'm hoping the Celtics pull this out, but home court is a huge advantage for the Lakers. I originally thought the Celtics in 7 ... so we got the 7 games, but I think I might have underestimated the advantage of home court.
Who are you pulling for?

I'm pulling for a tie. I think LA takes it though as Perkins seems that he will be out. I hate the thug celtics so I guess if you twisted my arm I would root for LA, but I wont be watching regardless.

Don't like either team.
Oh well, I'm only a few more weeks away from quiting the NBA anyway.

i can't bet against kobe and phil in a game 7 on their home floor.
this could be a pivotal game for cavs fans. both coaches could be on the market (although i don't think we have a serious chance at either) so what is the feeling with either coach as they walk off the floor thursday night?
i will say this about either coach. it becomes a serious chance if the cavs can pull off some kind of a major trade where they have player B to go with LBJ. that i think they would look when u combine that with dan gilbert's checkbook.

Have to go with home court in a game 7. Plus Kobe is as focused as I've ever seen him. Can't imagine him losing at home.

huge game for kobe too... think about the 2 different ways it can go.
if you win, you get your 5th ring, you get within one of the great mj, your idol, and you are within reach, as kobe probably has another 4 or 5 great years left in him.
if you lose, that's twice in 3 years you have lost to the celtics. and that has gotta hurt.
lbj has also lost twice to the same boston team. think about that.

Even if Kobe gets to 6, he'll only have 3 as the best player on his team. People forget how dominant Shaq was.
I am not a fan of his, but only an idiot would say he's not a great player. He is. But he could get 10 championships, and while close to the talent that Jordan was, I still don't think he's as good as Jordan. There are some similarities in their games, but their games are way different than most recognize. I've watched both extensively over the years.
Like another poster said above, my heart says C's, my head says Lakers.

but it wasn't in the Finals, so it is not as impressive (at least that seems to be the ESPN spin on it)

I'm a major Celtics fan.
But without Perkins we are in major trouble.
Rasheed Wallace will need to have a huge night with like very few fouls for us to stay in it.
It really sucks that this happened though. Perkins gets injured coming down for a rebound (and had Kobe and Bynum not fouled him, it wouldn't have happened) and the Celtics season might as well be over. We don't have another real center on the basketball team.
Time to suit up Brian Scalabrine.
Now lastnight the C's didn't play well, but to think that we can win without our good defense center is really difficult. So yeah, way to go Lakers, you beat the Celtics (not at their best), and it's your fault (although unintentional).
This is like the first time I can remember Perk being injured and I've watched for a long time. It's depressing that this happens game 6 of the finals

To be fair, the Lakers aren't at full strength either. Kind of levels the playing field.
I think you are too quickly dismissing your team. They can still win it. They just need to want it more.
The team that wants it more is going to win Game 7.

There are a couple of personal reasons I don't care for the City of Boston at all. Nothing against the Celtics -- they have a long and storied history in the NBA, one to be highly respected.
'Been a Lakers fan since way far back though, so I hope Boston falls flat on its basketball face,...that said, with Perkins hurt, they have to have EVERYONE show up, or it is all over. Sheed, Allen, Rondo, Kevin, Baby,... all of 'em have got to have big nights, especially Ray. When he is on, the team seems to light up -- he scares me -- (said that three weeks ago.)
Samey same for LA,...if only Kobe shows up -- and HE "PROBABLY" WILL -- the Lakers will be in trouble. Difference is, Boston is (was,...) a tad deeper, and could get away with it. LA cannot. If Bryant does not show up at all, Boston has a shot.
Too close to call, but all of the so-called experts have LA,...don't really care with the LeBron thing hanging its ugly cloud.
Could be Phil Jackson's swan song too,....

I hate both teams but damn I can't help but get goosebumps of a game 7 in the NBA finals. I'd lose it right now if that were the Cavs.

I'm personally hoping there's an earthquake at the arena and they can't finish the game and declare them both losers.

The fakers have a huge size advantage over the celtics. Gasol has like 6 rebounds in the 1st quarter.

Is Artest one of the guys the Cavs were looking at trying to get before we ended up with ShaNoAttack ? He's keeping the Lakers in this.

I am surprised so many of you are into basketball. Hockey and MMA are more tough and real men play those games and participate in those sports. The NBA is a league with crooked refs and players who are constantly whining about everything. They are not men. Gillbert should just get rid of the Cavs and get an NHL team in here. Oh look at that the Lakers won. The NBA hardly anyone new wins the title. What a joke.

Kobe winning MVP is a joke, I hope he plans to buy Gasol a nice new Mercedes.

Why? He shot 6/24. That's good, right?
seriously though, he did control the flow of the game and grabbed 15 rebounds tonight. Gasol had better numbers, but Kobe had a better game (both struggled on offense but both teams struggled).

Gasol played pretty damn well in all 7 games this series. Its not an award for the last game, and in my mind there is little doubt Gasol put out a better body of work overall. Its also pretty debatable who played best in game 7. Gasol and Artest both came up huge in the end. Kobe didn't play horribly but he was not on the level he is and will continue to be elevated to for the next few days. I think Gasol got robbed because of the name factor.

Of course Kobe is the MVP ..... because he's Kobe.
Unless the Superstar has a horrible series, (unlikely if his team loses) then he generally gets the MVP unless someone else just flat out destroys the other team the whole way throughout the entire series.

it is an award that is often heavily, heavily weighted by the last game.
Gasol definitely had a case for it, but I thought he actually played better in a couple of the Laker losses, which really shouldn't factor in. Kobe had a very inefficient series, but it is not like he was completely undeserving either (and I hate Kobe)
