So tiger made a pretty nice comeback yesterday. He was down by 9 after the 3rd hole, now he's only 5 back. I'm still pulling for Phil.
On a side note, I never realized how cold San Francisco is during the summer. They only average 25 days per year 75 degrees or higher.

San Fran stays cool because of the ocean currents. On the other hand it's what keeps them warmer during the winter. Portland is much the same.
As for the Open. I, for some reason, can't keep myself watching. Normally I watch all the majors. This year I watched the Masters but am finding little interst in the Open. Go figure?

Wow, how can someone not like Pebble Beach? But this year's open was alright. I was kind of dissapointed none of the people I wanted to win won, namely Woods, Mickelson, or Els. But it was nice to see that irish guy win it, he seemed like a good person.

2-putt for the win was disappointing (no drama). but, Pebble is the most beautiful course in the US.

I personally think Augusta is the prettiest tour stop, but Pebble is surely the most picturesque.
I have to say that was the toughest final round of a major that I've ever watched. I know the course was tough, but I've never seen a bigger bunch of chokers than that group in any major I can remember. Watching Dustin Johnson come out scared made me cringe. He wasn't the least bit ready for the pressure he was facing.
As for the rest, including Tiger, none of'em had their A-games going. Watching McDowell with the tournament with a slow-bleed while the rest were bleeding faster was just painful. All those American golfers fumbling all over themselves while an Irishman wins the US Open hurt my patriotic side. I fell asleep while McDowell was teeing off on 18. I knew nobody would catch him.
Blecht.............The worst US Open I've ever seen.

Can't go wrong either way, but I've been to Pebble, which probably slants favor towards it for me.

Well, I've been to Augusta, and I say it's prettier.
Ok..I lied. Haven't been to either.

I played Pebble with my dad in April and it was a lot of fun watching the pros play, and struggle, on several of the holes we did. Though I pretty much struggled the whole round cause I'm not very good (about a 12 handicap) it was neat to see how difficult it was for the pros on 17 - that hole, even from the 180 we played it from, is very, very difficult. The green at 14 is unbelievable - I had a wedge from 100 yards in and over hit the green, then ended up off the front (around where Mickelson and Els were) after my 4th, chipped my 5th over the back again, finally got on in 6 and 2 putted for an 8. Mind you, the greens were not nearly as fast, nor was the rough nearly as bad when I played.

that's no way to tell a story:
the greens were twice as fast and the roughs twice as tall and you played the front nine in a monsoon and the back nine in a thick fog.

I am not a big fan of the U.S. Open; while I don't like golf courses that allow pros to shoot 15 or 18 under, I do like courses that give you a chance to make a move down the stretch (like say, at Augusta) by providing a couple of decent birdie chances. A winning score of five or six under is about right. The par-3 17th at Pebble among others, IMO, is just ridiculous. If I wanna watch guys make bogeys and doubles, I'll go golfing myself. I was pulling for anybody but Tiger & Phil - they've had enough glory and I'm tired of hearing about 'em. I was actually pulling for the French guy, but was OK with McDowell winning. Felt bad for Dustin Johnson - ouch - he tumbled fast.
