Well, there's 6 idiots. The first one - well, just stupid. Hank Johnson? An island flipping over and capsizing? I'd be embarrassed to have him represent me - but maxine waters? I'll tell you what - she had foresight, didn't she?

Maybe, but it certainly would apply to whoever coined that term.

In all fairness - Bush's gaffes were not of this level. He said words wrong.....he didn't profess to take over corporations, I never heard him worried about capsizing an island, and I never heard him get on the senate floor and say "one two three four five, my gata takes no jive".

Using words wrong - it happens. Heck, Bush was a master at inventing new words, i.e. misunderestimating..............

and people called him dumb. If he was dumb, 4 of these 6 appear brain dead.

Well if believing in things like equal rights makes someone a "dumbocrat" then sign me up.

It is a party that cannot resolve the rights of an individual freedoms with its stated platform postions on segregation and abortion among "socially sensitive" topics.

Repbulicans have been losing the war for the rights of the individual for the past 100 years. Their fiscal agenda to empower the wealthy is draped in american flag that has resulted in the greatest disparity between rich and poor in the past 70 years. Its fiscally conservative position is a farce, as the rebuplicans are the responsible for the majority of the national debt.

How anyone who makes less than 250k per year could support a republican platform is beyond me.

How anyone that has a full time job that pays over the equivalent of $25,000 per year in my area can support a democratic platform is beyond me..............wait - no, it's not. Because when they see someone that makes $50,000 they scream "that's not fair".

Democrats, liberalists.......what ever term you want to use - make me sick. I hate labeling - but people that expect and think they deserve simply because they are here..............pathetic. Losers.

How you can't see that is beyond me.

And I'll tell you something else - the "payers" of all these social programs are dwindling, fast, and sure.

Who will be left to pay? No one. Where does that take us? Can you say "third world country"? If you can't, learn how, cause we're headed there.

Our gov't. printing out money, and borrowing it from themselves..........and not having it show up in the "official" book of gov't.............let's just say, enjoy today, cause tomorrow's coming.

Sorry pal, can't rely on only 48% of people paying income tax.

Sorry pal, borrowing more and more and more every day - there's an end to it, and it's close.

Sorry pal - all people were created equal - and those that can't, won't, those that can, have. And we are at the point that the can's can't anymore. Dragging everyone into the squalor won't help anyone.;

I'm sorry, but that is such a load of crap. The democrats don't care any more about "equal rights" than any other party. They, in fact, exploit minorities to get elected and pretend to care more and treat people like poor fools who aren't smart enough to take care of themselves.

I don't understand this quote at all.

I agree with the first and third question, although perhaps for different reasons. The second sentence is rather silly.

How you can say that with a straight face is beyond me. Add Democrats into that mix and I'll agree with you.

and you need to blame GWB and the republicans for the deficit and expansion of the federal government.

Republicans scream at the top of their lungs about the deficit when not in power and spend like drunken sailors when they have power.

The amount of money this country spends on national defense is stupid, and supports Ike feared Military-Industrial-Complex, and we never hear a word about it.

I hate the deficit as much as anyone, I have always supported a balanced budget ammendment.

Frankly I don't know what social programs the repbulicans are proposing to eliminate. Any ideas?

Each side may have some boneheads but I believe there's good politicians somewhere in each of the parties. There needs to be more cross talk between both parties instead of blaming each other for the bad things that are happening to this country.

Wrong - but since you seem intent on blaming...........have at it.

Correct, to a point. Most conservatives are considered republicans........good bad or indifferent, that's how it is.

So, let's drop the "republican" thing. I know I"m labeled, on here, a republican - fine - but I am first and foremost a conservative. Bush did spend, and spend. No doubt.

O has continued that, and sped it up to be honest. But let's drop the republican vs. democrat thing. That's the first step.

The next step is to STOP spending. Today!!! This country is sinking and too many people are hung up on "republican" or "democrat"...............I want to know where the people are that say "I'm American, and I care about this damn country, and here's what needs to be done".

At one time I would've said you were right. However, with the debt this country faces, and the way things are going....yes, I'd love to cut the waste in military spending, but I realize our military may be our only way out of it. You don't need to like it, you don't need to agree with it..........but you know what I"m talking about. Nuff said.

I don't know what the republicans, per se, are trying to eliminate - but how's about we don't ADD any more for a start.

Why do the people on welfare get child support credits?
Why do the employed people with 5 kids get back all they pay in taxes, plus $8000? (that's my ex wife, by the way)

Why do only 48% of the u.s. workers pay federal income tax?

Why does my third grade, going into 4th grade, daughter have friends that get free lunches yet have their own cell phones? How can that be? Can't feed your kid, but you can afford a cell phone for them? At age 10????????

What social programs should be cut? All of them - by at least 10% this year, and at least 10% next year. I bet you'd be surprised how little it would effect people - other than the gov't. "workers" that soak up so much of the money.

Cutting - it will hurt some - but it will benefit many.

Keep putting people on the public dole? You WILL drag the rest of the country down with you.

Take your pick.

Just to add to that - I have personal knowledge of a young lady that, entering her sr. year in high school......she had 2 kids. Upon graduating, she had 3 kids. No job. The fathers - yes, 3 fathers - no jobs.

And why doesn't the "mother" work? Well, in her own words "I make more money not working than if I got a job, so why should I work?"
That's the attitude of too many people today.......it's not "how can I improve my life", it's "why don't other people improve my life".

personally, i don't find Hank Johnson's "gaffe" that bad.. it's perfect hyperbole of what would go on in Guam if things went differently than what he wanted... Everyone is jumping on him over something that is trivial.. of course Guam won't tip over literally, just as much as you don't see cats and dogs falling from the sky when someone proclaims that it is raining cats and dogs out there.

But there are a lot of politicians out there on both sides that say dumb things that cannot even be construed as hyperbole..

And I will tell you this - those of you that have ambition and desire will make it - through hard work, not from gov't. handouts.

However, it IS getting tougher for those with ambition and desire and goals - it is impeded by the "you have to help others that don't have what you have" attitude.

Best of luck to you!

It cracks me up when people throw out the "Well GWB...." argument, when I think all but maybe 1 or 2 obscure people on this board were ridiculing Bush for his spending and policies while in the office. I think the only support Bush got from this board was on the war topic with the division between the For's and Against's.

See my 'confirmation bias' thread... and read my description of "typical DT posters" before you respond to my post, if you want to at all.

If not- that's cool, too... but you should know that I've always respected your opinions in here- and I've never seen you take such an approach before now. It's surprising to me... and not at all what I might have expected from you.

jfan... with this post, you seem to be acting every bit the poster child for 'confirmation bias' that you accuse mac of being. I've known of your political proclivities for quite some time now, but I really didn't expect such a pointed, partisan salvo tonight. As Jules intimated, any of us could have taken a stance, combed through enough YouTube vids to help us 'make our point,' and pumped it into the Tailgate... but damn, Dawg- I really didn't expect this from you. I'm not sure what to think, now.

Trust me... I'm only saying this because I like you both... pot AND kettle... whether you like each other or not.

What you've done here looks suspiciously like "flip sides of the same coin".... from my humble p.o.v. Someone could easily post a similar number of YouTube links featuring Boehner, McConnell, and Joe Wilson... and call them all "Re-thugli-can'ts" (instead of "Dumb-o-crats")... and it wouldn't turn my opinions of them, either.

So- what was the point of this? I'm just confused, here. Are you really so pro-Republican that you only see stupidity on the other side of the aisle? Do you really believe that the R's in government are less myopic, greedy, power-hungry and self-serving as their D counterparts? Think carefully before you answer, because there's a whole world of YouTube vids that would support opinions to the opposite.

I'll read the rest of these posts, for sure... but I'm asking you this straight-out, poster to poster... what was your motivation for starting this thread? I'll be happy to take your answer in the thread or in a PM, if that would be your preference.

thanks in advance,

Fine, but you need to realize that the reason for the 48 percent number is that the US is moving away from a middle class society into ones of haves and have-nots.

I would gladly trade all the earned income credits for a 28 percent captial gains tax. That has done more to shift the balance of equity than anything else. One of the root causes of financial meltdown was the change in capital gains that allowed a corporate and individual shell game to evolve to take advantage of the lower taxes.

But no one has the guts to raise an unfair tax, or remove an entitlement because it would be a political nightmare.

The military should take the hit just as well. There are better things to spend money on than bombs and jets, just to keep MIC's in business. You want to talk about living off of the public dole, there you have it.

Just try to cut social security or medicare, it can't be done without backlash.

You are right in the fact that there are no real republicans anymore, the conservative movement is the repbulican party of today. What was once a practice has become an ideology that cannot deal with the practical issues associated with running a government. Could you imagine the backlash against Nixon by conservatives for passing the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act?

We can return to the days of the cuyahoga river burning, love canal and all the rest of the environmental disasters of the 70's. But I would rather not. We have been reminded of what an environmental disaster looks like, and it is far worse than the effort of doing things the right way.

I find it ironic that you would not expect someone to take issue with GWB in a thread that is labeled with the term "dumbocrat"

I have little tolerance for the namecalling that has become so popular of late, one of things that really bother me, are the endless, mindless comparisons of Obama (first by Beck and now working its way into the more general media) to communists, socialists and facists, whenever convienent, and without understanding the differences. It is digusting and vile, and I will say profoundly un-American. It shows the weakness of the conservative argument when they have to resort to name calling and fear mongering to attempt to sway opinion.

whoa whoa there buddy. since you only have a few posts here i thought i would give you a heads up about these boards. posts like that are frowned upon here.

1. It has a non left or right tone to it. you cant be like that here. you have to be one side or the other here. none of that reaching across the party lines kind of talk here. you might get banned.

2. your post makes sense. again none of that here

so choose sides buddy. you cant be a left, democrat, conservative, republican, right, liberal, tree huggin closet raciest. you must chose one and follow blind faith in your choice.

just kiddin, welcome and be careful with you opinions here lol.

I agree totally with your post (maybe question how many goods ones there are). each party points too may fingers, they are afraid to come up with an idea first. why get slammed for you idea to help this country, when you can sit back and bash the other party's idea. reaching across the isle, if it was ever done, is a thing off the past. just like crabs post 2002.

I definitely am not "so pro republican". I've mentioned this in several recent posts. My motivation for this thread was humor after seeing the first vid, then I found the others. The democrats are in power, and I thought it would be nice to put a face and voice to those morons who want more and more of my money to spend as they see fit. Are these the people you want making decisions on national security and to deal with our financial woes?

Sure, there are some sad republicans also, and I've voiced my concerns. The dems have the presidency, the house and the senate....so they get to wear the bullseye. Blaming the previous administration is wearing thin....this one got to start out with a trillion dollars to fix things. 18 months later they're asking for more.

As for confirmation bias and comparing me to mac, you're way off base. I'm not afraid to voice displeasure with the republican party. I voted for Ted Strickland and Marcy Kaptur because they were the best choices. The republicans screwed the pooch and will have a hard time reversing the damage unless they start walking the conservative walk.

Hopefully I've answered your questions.

Why WOULD you raise an unfair tax?

And you're right about taking away what is considered and "entitlement" - it's political suicide. I personally believe we need some kamikazes to do that though. People need to realize that just because they live here they are not "entitled" to anything other than getting a job.

Those of us that have jobs are tired of getting hammered for those that don't. Our gov't. enabling people to live for years without earning a dime is part of the problem. PART.

Another part of the problem is all the regulation a business has to go through - just to stay in business. Regulation - it's like what unions are - USED to be necessary, but now it's nothing more than a business in and of itself. And spare me the examples, okay?

This country has gone so far away from "get up, go to work, live beneath your means, and don't worry about what the neighbors earn or do".........we are now at the "hey, I deserve this, that and the other thing. No, I don't work, I didn't graduate high school, but dang, I"m a citizen, so I deserve it, and my cousin that does work........he can't afford his house, so why should I work"............it goes on and on.

It's like - hey, there's an abyss in front of us. Should we turn? Ah, hell no........full speed ahead. Someone else will pay.

It is the weakness of the conservative movement that when pushed, they offer nothing more than a cut everything approach. It is an ideology that cannot govern, because to goven would be to abandon the necessities of govenrment that has been created over time.

Regulation has become the necessity of making sure that corporations do the right thing. The corporation holds more power than the individual today, a change that was not contemplated in the constitution.

Why are examples not relevant? Perhaps because your conservative viewpoint would crumble under the weight of reality? Because you do not like the reality of the gulf oil spill embedded in your brain day after day showing the failure of the mighty corporatists? I shake my head in dismay at the those who blame the government for this mess, and the inability of the government to stop an oil spout in 5000 feet of water.

Right now 90 percent of us get up and go to work. When times are good, it is 95 or 96 percent, so why are conservatives so hyper-focused on the portion of Americans out of work, when they subsidize the MIC's at a far greater cost?

And since when does the "don't worry about the neighbors earn or do" apply to the moral hypocracy offered by the conservatives? Sure I don't want you care about what I do, but I care if you are getting some form of government subsidy, or have a difference of opinion on a social issue, then I care enough to pass a law to enforce my morality.

Conservatives go around wearing conservatism as a badge of honor, to me, it has the same impression as a liberal.. Funny ideas, but no practical purpose at all.

Edit below.

To answer your first question Why would I raise an unfair tax. .. because 1) we have a huge deficit, and this would raise revenue, and 2) when the tax was low (15%), the wealthy would use capital gains as a means to accumulate disproportionate wealth.

Glad you recognize that. Relying on gov't. to control everything is akin to laying back and not caring - saying "gov't. will take care of it".

I disagree. If we were following the constitution, we'd actually be fine. However, the more gov't. gets involved, the more problems we have.......need I go into detail?

My conservative view point would crumble under the weight of reality? Please? Is that all you have? My conservative view point would have drilling on land, where we know we have oil. My conservative view point would NOT be giving a foreign state $2 billion to drill in 7000 plus feet of ocean. My conservative viewpoint would make america what it used to be. YOUR viewpoint is obviously "shame on America for everything it's done" My view point is God Bless America for everything it's done. Apparently we disagree there.

I'd like to know where you get the "90% of us get up and go to work" stat from. Would love to see that statistic. 90% of us work? Even in the best, BEST of times, not 90% of us go to work........no where near. Please, give me a link - from a reputable source, that 90% of Americans are working.

Then, from that link, show me that 90% of Americans actually pay federal income tax.

Don't waste your time. You are wrong. Normally, when you post something, I respect it - don't agree, but respect it. However, this is crazy.......90% of the u.s. goes to work, and 95% to 96% work in good times?

Ah,,,,,,,,,,,,you're basing it on the unemployment rate. Have you any clue that about 30% of the u.s. doesn't work cause they are retired????????

Have you any clue that the unemployment rate in no way reflects the actual unemployed????? Come on, you're smarter than that,.........at least I thought you were.

I'm not following you here...............could you expound on that thought? The "moral" hypocrisy of the conservatives? Ah, just, could you expand on that please?

Then you don't know a damn true conservative - perhaps you know people that pretend to be conservative..........I don't know.

I will say if you took my "conservative" ideas and put them into practice, this country would face somewhere around a 3 to 10 year crisis. After which, we'd be wonderful and good to go.

I also know that the way this country is going, we are putting off the crisis for a few years - 2 to 4 years...........and when the pain hits, it's going to hit hard, deep, and everyone...............it WILL be something we don't want to see.

I don't blame that on republicans, democrats, conservatives or liberals........I blame it on "entitlements" and "I wanna keep my gov't. job, so screw all the rest of you".

I could go on, but I won't. However, sir, as much as I respect your opinion on most things, you are wrong in this.

Sorry pal - all people were created equal - and those that can't, won't, those that can, have. And we are at the point that the can's can't anymore. Dragging everyone into the squalor won't help anyone.;

Everything this man said was nailed right on the head. I can't stand people that sit there and complain about the disparity of income. America is a capitalist country which is why it was considered the land of opportunity. In a captialist society there will be rich, poor and middle class. I know what's next. People will say oooh the middle class is disappearing. Bull Crap, I make between 30k and 40k a year and consider myself middle class. While I don't have everything an upper class citizen has, I still have food, nice clothes as do the kids, big screen plasma, used dependable transportation, and enough money to have a decent time. If I want more then I will simply either get a second job or go back to school for a masters degree. I don't want someone else to support me just as I don't want to support the person making 15k per year who has the same opportunity as me to go back to school and get a better job. People that want to complain about income disparity should go find themselves a nice cozy place in a socialist country where they think it will be filled with gum drops and rainbows. Ugh. Nice Job again, Arch.

Me thinks you are doing nothing but stirring the pot. For years we have suffered through the Dems and the media blast away at Bush and other Republicans. I find your use of the word dumbocrat is a chance to sit back and laugh at those on here who were guilty of it and now are indignant.Shoe meet other foot.

BTW I got big laughs out of some of Bush's gaffs.

YOUR viewpoint is obviously "shame on America for everything it's done" My view point is God Bless America for everything it's done. Apparently we disagree there.

Absolutely not. I say God Bless America for every day that I live. I love this country and would not live anywhere else. America has and always will be seeking to find a more perfect union. My opinion on what we were, were we are and were we should go are as open to critic, just as your opinions are, and neither makes us less or more of an American.

My conservative viewpoint would make America what it used to be.

The conservative viewpoint rapes and pollutes the land. It is short-sighted and fails to recognize the impact on future generations. It may have been acceptable for a nation of 50 million, but is inappropriate for a nation of 300 million.

Ah,,,,,,,,,,,,you're basing it on the unemployment rate. Have you any clue that about 30% of the u.s. doesn't work cause they are retired????????

Explain to me why being retired if you can afford it is a bad thing? People have paid into retirement for their working career, so I don't think it is a bad thing to do. We can discuss the merits and pitfalls of the system as it exists, but at one time SS was independant of the federal money pool. It should remain that way, Right now the government owes SS a boatload of money.

I'm not following you here...............could you expound on that thought? The "moral" hypocrisy of the conservatives?

Then you don't know a damn true conservative.

The "social issues" (e.g. abortion, race, gender, religion) and "free market captialists" groups make conservatives look hypocritical, If you are not part of that "social issues" crowd than you should call yourself a libertarian.

You offer the doom and gloom of an forthcoming crisis, with the potential of better day.. that is the basis for all of the past ideologies. All of which failed.

Call me, or label me, as you wish. Fine. However, I'm not sure how "e.g. abortion, race, gender, religion) come into play. I'm basically anti abortion........race? Who cares? Gender? Who cares? Religion? Who cares? Why even bring those up? Oh, I know. Because that's what people do when attempting to dispute what I believe. Laughable really, as abortion has not come up in this thread, nor race, nor gender. Good job at trying to turn the subject away from what was being discussed though.

Look - you can call it doom and gloom - fine. I call it reality - and within roughly 2 to 6 years, you will see it as I do.

Again - you can label me if you want. Most on here call me a conservative nut or a republican nut, or a right wing zealot. fine by me. You can call me a liberal, democratic crazy - fine by me. Call me a libertarian.

I Don't care what you label me as.........don't care 1 bit. But in the relatively near future, you WILL call my thoughts "correct" unless a whole lot of stuff changes.

This country is sinking, and every action taking place now is doing nothing but, short term, avoiding the problem, and long term........making it worse.

What America do you live in???Have you ever read the Constitution???he Declaration of Independance??? Because I don't see in any of those documents where welfare and entitlement programs and complete government control of everything is America....You have a VERY warped view of what America is. America was built with the sole purpose of not having a massive federal government. We fought a War in which 2% of our population were casulties to escape that very thing. 1 tyrant 3000 miles away or 3000 tyrants 1 mile away...what is the difference??? That was a larger issue...that is why America was not a socialist Coutry to start with. America was built to be a country with a "MINIMALIST" and unobtrusive Federal Government...America was built upon the power of the individual and individual freedoms. And yet you support programs that wish to trample most of those freedoms down for doing that most American of things.....becoming successful by your using your own means and talents.

Please show me where in the Constitution, or Declaration of Independance, or Bill of Rights where it says that it is the Government's job to support you??? To look after your retirement??? To control your healthcare??? To distribute your charitable contributions??? Or heck to even educate you???

This is such an ignorant statement. The "conservative viewpoint"??? Really??? How about some greedy politicians rape an pollute the land......It happens on BOTH sides of the aisle buddy it is NOT the viewpoint. The conservative viewpoint says "BALANCE" which quite frankly is a GOOD THING...The "viewpoint" doesn't want to pollute and rape the land...but it doesn't want to destroy the economy either. You want to talk short sighted look no further than the mirror. I have NEVER seen a more shortsighted bunch of people in my entire life than a liberal or socialist leaning person. They always have noble ideas and grand schemes about how to accomplish them...but have absolutely no freaking clue as to how those plans will affect people outside of them or how they will affect people in the long run. Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare States were all supposed to be "TEMPORARY" fixes.....they were supposed to be "SAFETY NETS"....but are they???? No, because of the short sighted idiocy of the liberal machine..........Rape and pollute the land.....sure lets tighten the environmental restrictions so tight...that we put hundreds of thousands of people out of work ...allow other countries to do whatever they want and race past us economically and still not do a dang thing for the land because we get pollution form thos very countries!!!! Yeah....conservatives are short sighted

Ummmm I have seen it explained MANY times on this board that many of the conservatives give to charities. And they would rather have the CHOICE of which charities to give to. They believe they can find charities that will take less overhead to dole out there money for services and provisions to people who need it than the government does(and with less corruption). And frankly I agree with them. And why is it when an election comes around and you start looking at the charitable contributions of each candidate....(in a general sense obviously it is not "always the case") the contributions of the Republican seem pretty steady and is sizeable.....but the contributions of the Democrat is negligible until shortly before the campaigning starts??? JUst one article on the issue http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/03/conservatives_more_liberal_giv.html

First lets get our facts straight....

Conservatisim is an ideal......
Libertarian is a political party....

Quote:

You don't read your history books do you??? We have been living on liberal programs for close to 100 years and have had bubble economy after bubble economy...most of those 100 years we have had a liberal controlled congress( including since 2006 when the spending went seriously out of control)...Maybe you should take YOUR head out of your butt (or is it up Obama's butt???) and start looking at failed ideologies.....

The liberal view is a path to failure because it destroys the ONE THING that can save this country. It destroys the idea of self responsibility. Responsibility of oneself, of ones family, of ones fellow man. Because it allows for another entity to assume that responsibility....the government. It allows for the possibilty to lay blame for anything and everything outside of oneself. and when you do that you take no responsibility for your actions. And even those liberals who become successful, I still say they are irresponsible, because they perpetuate that "reality". It may not be their intention. But their shortsightedness of the situation prevents them from ever seeing the reality. That they cripple people...they create dependants...a TRUE conservative looks for ways to create independants, and is called uncaring, and a hypocrit for the effort.

Too bad all we have in Washington are politicians.

No, BrownsBabe. Makes them RebubliCAN'Ts. Do little; achieve less; block all. Do not doubt that we have here a classic example of the problem on both ends of the stick. This bickering and posturing is uglier than I ever remember and I am older than many here.

Logical fallacies (wrong thinking and illogical):
A) Making the other person wrong, makes the finger pointer right and relieves them of responsibility.
B) Finding any part of something to attack means 100% of the target is wrong. Labels are powerful and one of the quickest ways to find ignorant folks who want you to turn off your brain so they can control you or your opinion, just suspend sense and judgment. When we do not talk issue and sneer liberal as we talk, the issue is lost. Game over logically. I don't like republican't or other slurs. But they are popularly embraced.

Issues. We need to solve problems; filibusters do not. I am ashamed of our politicians, but not my country. I care about America; I care about my future and my family. I believe we need toaddress and develop answers for more Americans after years of social neglect and domestic resource development. I do not beleve that schools are the place to address societal ills and traumas. I can always spot who is indulging in this whether on TV, in conversation, in editorials etc. I offer it as a guideline which has been honest and truthful in my experience. Warning: applying it to Washington and the talking heads may prove to be at least depressing, and even disturbing:

"Critics are legless men who teach running." They correct nothing, they craft nothing, seldom any part of anything positive. They exist to worsen the situation, attacking the worker while resisting needful effort on their part. No solutions, only salvos. They offer nothing, only believing that they are somehow superior or above a dilemma. Can't build a bridge so they blame the river. And we are then lessened by their selfishness and laziness. In my opinion.

Pete, since you have questioned my understanding of the subject matter, I will state that I have read more books, (American history and biographies) than 99 percent of Americans. I know these documents well, less you forget about the 'promote the general welfare" included in the preamble.

My "collection" at this time contains roughly 20 book (it varies from time to time), varying from the constitution (Summer of 1787), the Federalist papers, Jefferson, Franklin, Lincoln, T Roosevelt, F Roosevelt and other assorted American history events.

The power to regulate is certainly contained in the constitution. The document is a framework of government that allowed for the establishment of laws and regulations. The founding fathers had no predispostion as to the forthcoming laws and regulations that would pass, that was not the intent of the document, it was a document to establish the structure of the federal government.

So my comments are based more on than a cursory understanding of the past. I read it for what is it, and to learn where we came from, not to extract a presumed opinion or support a political position.

And please don't assume that I am a liberal, I am an American.

It cracks me up when people throw out the "Well GWB...." argument, when I think all but maybe 1 or 2 obscure people on this board were ridiculing Bush for his spending and policies while in the office. I think the only support Bush got from this board was on the war topic with the division between the For's and Against's.

But you were the first to throw a persons name as blame in this thread, before that the argument was repubs and dems, not Obama vs Bush. it's about party line thoughts and ideals, and how neither stands for what they originally were associated with, and how both are destroying our country, economy and world standing.

until both sides put down the pitchforks and realize that the US is not alone in the world and decisions made need to be made with a mindset of what position it leaves the US in the world, we will continue to falter and crumble.

Time to quit bickering like school children, finish with the "my dad is better than your dad" attitude.

Again, no one mentioned Obama. In fact a couple told the OP that GWB made several gaffes himself.
