Yep, Obama and Reagan both believed that NASA could be used as a diplomatic tool to bring enemies, closer together.

Reagan said..."We can find, as yet undiscovered, avenues where American and Soviet citizens can cooperate fruitfully for the benefit of mankind.
In science and technology, we could launch new joint space ventures."

Reagan did suggest in this speech using NASA as an avenue to facilitate diplomacy between an old enemy and the USA.
Now, here is what Obama's NASA chief Bolden said...
“When I became the NASA administrator, or before I became the NASA administrator, he charged me with three things. One was he wanted me to help re-inspire children to want to get into science and math, he wanted me to expand our international relationships, and third, and perhaps foremost, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science and math and engineering”

Both Bolden and Reagan talked about "avenues" such as science, technology, math and engineering (in the context of NASA) that could be used in a diplomatic way to bring the United States and muslim nations/Soviet Union closer together.

Obama and Bush are essentially identical.... they both voted to fund the war, they have both sent troops to the war... if you hate the war and you are going to hate one, you have to hate the other.
Funny thing about the war in Iraq.. when Obama ran on his platform to have soldiers out by summer '09.. then got elected and some folks in the Pentagon told him he was an idiot and there was not way that was happening.. sort like what most thinking people said before the election... then he changed it to the end of 2011, which was George Bush's plan before he left office.. the plan that democrats hated... well after Obama adopted George Bush's plan, all of the sudden people like Cindy Sheehan disappeared... We are still on GWB's plan and all of the haters are gone.. poof... gone... funny how that happens.
Ok, back to the conversation about Obama being just like Reagan...

he sent a bunch of troops there, overthrew the government, dropped a whole bunch of bombs and killed and captured many many taliban guys..

To be accurate, Bush did not lose bin Laden, the field commanders did. Last I saw, neither Bush nor Obama are in the dirt with a rifle.... they don't actually "DO" anything in the war.
The Generals do EVERYTHING, they merely require the approval of the CinC.
They had the city nearly encircled, yet all of those Taliban were able to just walk out under cover of dark. How the hell nobody with night vision goggles saw them is beyond me, but that is what happened. Want to blame someone? Blame the soldiers, NCO's and small unit commanders tasked with that area of responsibility.

mac also likes to selectively forget that Clinton could have had Bin Laden a number of times BEFORE 9/11 but after he had taken credit for terrorist acts and he passed them up. Bin Laden could have been in jail (or dead in a ditch) instead of planning 9/11.. that's an inconvenient truth for mac... the fact that we were chasing him through the hills at Tora Bora at all for killing 3000 Americans...... was largely Bill Clinton's fault.
