Well, the Boston series makes sense now. -

There were some goodbyes said before that series ended, but you are right. We've found out that LeBron had been trying to get the Three Me Egos together...the only question mark is would it have been in Cleveland if we won the championship? I think Bosh answered that one for us. LBJ gave up to make leaving easy, because explaining how you could leave your championship winning hometown behind wouldn't have been easy. This had been decided long ago...

Ehhh, the South Beach party atmosphere beat us out no matter what!

These are twenty something boys (not men). I expect problems from one or more with the party scene and shady characters there.

Well, the Boston series makes sense now. - After the series ended I posted on here about how things didn't add up.

LBJ ended the Chicago series by taking a free throw left handed. - Seconds after making a free throw right handed. - He suggested that his elbow was injured.

The Boston series:

Game one: LBJ looked a little flat, but Mo Williams carried us through. - People were starting to buy into the notion that LBJ's elbow was injured, hence his poor play.

Game two: LBJ played terrible and we lost - Again, the elbow was to blame.

Game three: All of a sudden, the elbow doesn't bother LBJ anymore, he scores 38, and the Cavs hand Boston their worst home playoff loss in team history. - This is where I got confused, how could a nagging injury simply "go away"

Game four: LBJ's turnovers and bad play mount and we lose.

Game five: Here, Lebron scores 15 points, and keeps turning the ball over, and we get blown out at home.

Game six: Lebron plays well, but commits turnover after turnover, and we lose the series.

Uhh guys, this is is more than collusion. - Lebron deliberately threw the series against Boston. - The turnovers? The 38 points one night and 15 points the next? It's obvious the elbow injury was fake all along?

- Believe it folks. Dan Gilbert should push this as far as he can.

I don't want to believe that LBJ would purposely throw a series.. but you make a good case,,. seems plausible to me,

You wanna know what's worse,, go to the NBA League site,, look for any reference to this issue of collusion or tampering and you find absolutly nothing. They aren't even addressing the appearance of wrong doing. Except for this one article and it's just comments from around the league but not showing any concern from the league.

http://www.nba.com/2010/news/features/art_garcia/07/10/james.reax/index.html

Whats really funny in that article is that some folks don't understand what the fuss is about,, yet, if you read thier reasoning, they are saying that LBJ had every right to move to another team.

Myself, I'm not questioning that, I'm not angry that he left.. Hey,, maybe if faced with the same decison, I'd do the same.. dunno.. (I admit to hating the way he disrespected the cavs, the cities of Akron and Cleveland and all of NE Ohio and all that fans, but that only proves he's an idiot)

What I'm saying is the problem is the Apparent Collusion and tampering.. that's gotta be against league rules and because of who they are, the league is apparently letting them get away with it without so much as a looksee..

I agree with you Muni, Gilbert should pursue this issue to the end.. he's got the bucks to fight and I sure as hell would..

I'm rather surprised that the politicians in the area haven't questioned any legal issues.. (do they have any anti trust exemptions)

It appears the league isn't going to be investigating,, but to be honest, I'm not sure they aren't and just holding back on releasing information.. Of course, I have to admit, I don't trust them....

You will never convince me that the league and Mr. Stern didn't know these discussions were taking place and that plans for these moves weren't in the works for years.. Fact is, if they didn't know it, then they were incompetant.

So we lose LeBron but we get Miami's 2013 and 2015 first rnd picks and the option to swap 2012 1st rnd picks plus we get 2 2nd rnd picks. Any chance we could have gotten more? or is this all that was allowed by NBA rules?

One thing that I have not seem much written about, but I did see it on a blog this morning. Between these 3, they pissed off the markets of New York, New Jersey, Cleveland, Chicago and Toronto. Chicago and New York are 2 of the biggest markets in the NBA. And the other fans did recognize that the hour long ego massage was a kick in our sac. They also in post after post were saying that these would be the 3 most hated players in the NBA on the most hated team. Time will tell but it has to hurt the one thing he does care about, his brand. His legacy is sh** is what one NBA GM said after the announcement.

Reading this morning, I think that the fans in Chicago are as mad as we are. Not only did their hometown boy Wade diss them by calling them out, but they already have a good team and then Lequitter and Bosh both don't go there and they also feel like this was a show all along. There was one thing that I did read about Chicago; Chicago was not going to give any special treatment to the posse, no new practice facility, no section of freebee tickets to the friends and friends of friends, no high paying jobs in the front office for friends, no special travel arrangements for the late night parties. Cleveland did that and Miami is also doing it, but Chicago said that MJ got no special treatment and James surely wasn't getting any.

Did we resign Telfair? I hope Scott can wake Telfair up. Or do whatever needs to be done. He was highly regarded coming out of HS and if you saw his highlights you'd think he was a top 3 PG. He's barely 25 and he's got so much talent. It would mean the world to us if he finally figured it out.

Per: SamAmicoNBA

Cavs recieve: Josh Childress and Marvin Williams
Hawks recieve: Mo Williams and Shaq (sign and trade)

Hawks trade looks good to me. I still think Marvin can be a star if he's "The Guy." People are saying we need to take steps backward to move forward - which is partially true - but another way to do it is to rob teams in trades and draft well.

Telfair picked up his player option. I'm not going to hold my breath on him, but he's a potential lottery ticket (that cost $2.5mil next year).

I like the trade too if it happens. I have always liked Childress (tough D, scrappy player, better on offense than given credit) and Marvin (i don't think he's a star, but he's definitely a guy who can work on both ends of the floor).

If we follow that up wtih a trade for a fast-break PG (Collison/Flynn), I'll be really happy.

I think in the NBA because 1or2 players make all the difference, you have to get worse to get better. But, since Gilbert obviously doesn't want to go that route, the route of having an entertaining playoff team that works hard is a good second option.

I had read the same thing about Chicago not giving the goodies.. I think the article said that they never gave MJ any of that and with him they won 6 titles.. LOL I kinda liked that line.

But it brought certain things to light.. I had no idea that the Cavs were employing some of LBJ's posse.. and I had no idea that the heat were basically providing the same things to LBJ's posse..

Maybe this is what Gilbert meant when he said there was much more to the story.... dunno.. Maybe that and the tampering/collusion thing..,

I'll admit I heard plenty of people say this was being planned before it ever happened and I thought they were just nutty conspiracy theorists. Turns out it actually did happen and they were completely right and I was completely wrong. There's a few on this board who fall into that category, so to them I apologize for calling you crazy.

Seems pretty obvious to me. The die hard basketball and NBA fans HATE this move and wish the league would go after them and enforce their rules about tampering and collusion. Any chance of the NBA being a competitive league just completely went out the window, and I think thats what the real NBA fans wanted. It was already a league without much parity, but its just jumped up to the MLB's level where no teams but a select few have a chance in hell.

However, the commissioner and the rest of the guys running things are loving this right now. The casual bandwagon fan has their eyes glued to the TV and their credit cards out to buy new LeBron, Bosh and Wade jerseys. The TV ratings are going to explode and they're hoping this brings the attention from the bigger markets (like China) more so than ever before. They basically sold the NBA's soul for the $$$$$$.

It sucks for Cleveland and Toronto fans, and fans of good competitive basketball no matter who is playing, but we're 2 small markets and the hardcore fans are the minority. We were just sacrificed for what they are hoping will be a huge payday. And it will probably be more common in the future for teams to tank it for a few years and then stack their rosters. Sucks for basketball fans, great for lining pockets though.

Me too, but that will never happen. We might as well just watch hockey instead. I just wish they could figure out how to make the awesomeness of watching a hockey game at the arena translate over to the TV. Hockey games on TV are rather boring

So let me get this straight .... Steve Kerr makes a joke about signing Lebron if he's willing to take the mid-level exception, and Stern fines him 10k. Lebron, Wade, Bosh and Riley actually COLLUDE to join up with the Heat, and he looks the other way?

Every team in the league should be making a huge fuss about this.

Well every team but the Celtics and Lakers ... you know since the two moves that made them elite power teams were pretty sketchy as well.

wade and his 2 lap dogs are gonna be on sunday conversation tonight

here is a link to the story, the part about lbj responding to dan gilbert's letter.

Asked if he called the Cavs personally on Thursday, James said, ”I didn’t talk to anyone personally because … I got to a point the last day, I heard so much throughout the whole process. The last day I wanted to be about me. I didn’t want to talk to anybody. So when I went to that interview I was comfortable with myself and I wasn’t hearing other people’s voices going on in my decision. I didn’t talk to anybody.”

I think we're all in agreement that #6 is scum. Going into this process, I really thought at the beginning "There's no ways he bails on national TV" but come on guys, we knew it all along. With tattoos like "Chosen" and his performance in the last few games against the Celtics, it was obvious he was bailing.

The only thing we can do now is be happy we have an owner who wants to win and try to build through the lottery. Give the young guys like JJ a chance to prove they can play, and we can get a solid team back here. Sure we lost a great player, but I'd rather have a guy that wants to be here and wants to win for Cleveland. I have no doubt we'll find him sooner or later.

The NBA isn't going to look in to anything...they know they have a crooked league.

MJ didn't retire, he was suspended for gambling....ok maybe he retired with a wink and nod from the NBA and told to unretire in a year or two.

Why do you think the NBA has a draft lottery? Why shouldn't the worst team in the league get the first pick?

Maybe because for a long time the worst team in the league started tanking games much sooner then the other teams.

It's a inferior pro sports league infested with thug players and the throwing of games all the time.

I bet it wouldn't be all that hard to find players who tank games with money on the line.

Heck, they have had refs doing their best to sway outcomes.

Big time gambling is firmly entrenched in the NBA.

This is every bit as big a problem as boxing faced in the 40's and 50's with rigged fights because like boxing, basketball is pretty easy to rig since you have limited players playing the game.

One baseball or football player on the take can't do all that much. One basketball player can do a lot to alter the outcome..

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Riley had always led this effort, retiring Jordan's No. 23 in the rafters at AmericanAirlines Arena even though Jordan -- of course -- never played in Miami.

I guess we know why Quitness said he was going to #6 a year ago. #23 wasn't available where he was heading.

I truly hate this guy more than any other sports figure who hasn't killed someone. Albert Belle taking the money and calling C-Town fans village idiots looks like a saint compared to this tool. Quitness was indeed a fraud and used the fans to make his millions all the while he laughed knowing he was gone. Recall how he never came to C-Town's defense when Noah went on his diatribes about Cleveland. He didn't and doesn't care about anyone but himself. I hope and pray that South Beach comes back to bite him in the butt. Hoping for Karma.

what i don't get is that he filed the paperwork for the number change, which meant that he was at least considering cleveland (you don't need paperwork if you are changing teams)

it was like he wanted to us to believe. what in the hell did we ever do to deserve this? did i miss something?

Yeah, that had me scratching my head too. It was a HUGE lead on to do that...

The entire process was a massive lead on.

I'm just glad everyone is finally seeing LeChoke for the classless punk that he truly is.

Cavs fans kissed his ass for 7 years, and frankly he never deserved it. He's a punk. He's always been a punk, and he always will be a punk.

Well, truth be told - if miami doesn't win it all next year, he'll look worse. And just think if they don't win it all in the next 3 years or so. And if they DO win it all, he'll look like a sellout anyway. A guy that went for glory over anything else.

When push comes to shove, he's really in a bad spot when you get right down to it. Don't win? People will laugh at him. Do win? They'll say "ah, he didn't do it, he had to go to a stacked team to do it."

True, but his PR company, aka ESPN, will help try repairing his image since he just got them huge ratings. They keep bringing up how he generated all this money for his human shields, errrrrrrrrr charity.

i'm glad i don't gave to defend the guy anymore.

cavs fans were so desperate to have a guy. we were always being beaten by the guy, that we were just so thrilled to have him. only he wasn't. he's not a killer.

i have heard several miami people strongly reinforce that this is no doubt still wade's team. the guy went because of his ego but will end up damaging it.

you think wade will stand for lbj holding the ball for 22 seconds, and then handing it off to someone else and blaming them for not making a play?

here's my early season prediction. heat get off to a bad start. 1-3, something like that. and poor eric spoelstra (seriously, why doesn't he just quit now) gets the boot, or as mike lupica said this morning "go and spend time with stan van gundy's family" priceless line.

Back in the day when the NBA wasn't corrupted by $$$$ and free agency..you never saw Magic Johnson,Larry Bird or Isiah Thomas desiring to be on the same team other than the Dream Team......
They each carried their teams on their shoulders to titles essentially.
can you imagine Bird in Laker yellow or Thomas in Celtic green?
whats funny is that the Cavs didn't win a thing with James....a Eastern Conference title at best....
James will go down in history as being overated and a underachiver.

I will never be able to prove it ..... but personally I think that Lebron threw the Boston series.

I think that he got worried that he might actually make it to the finals and blow his plan ......

So we got 8-21 from the field ..... 9 TOs ......

Two guys I hear we are looking at:

Josh Childress 6'8" 210lbs and Qyntel Woods 6'9" 230lbs I wouldn't mind having both of them.

Cleveland Cavaliers may be ready to begin reconstruction of roster

Published: Saturday, July 10, 2010, 11:12 PM Updated: Sunday, July 11, 2010, 5:47 AM

Brian Windhorst, The Plain Dealer Brian Windhorst, The Plain Dealer

LAS VEGAS -- When it comes to the schedule, the Cavaliers' next course of business is the Vegas Summer League. The team will start practicing in Vegas over the weekend and will play their first game Tuesday.

By then, though, there's a chance they'll have something new to talk about besides the events of the last week.

According to multiple sources, the team is getting ready to move forward and begin to retro-fit the roster post-LeBron James. After being forced to sit on the sidelines for the first 10 days of free agency waiting on James, they now have clarity to their situation and appear ready to make some decisions.

General Manager Chris Grant is considering three options to acquire players. One is to use his $5.7 million mid-level exception, which league sources say he's ready to execute.

Another is to use the $14.5 million trade exception the team got by sending James to the Miami Heat in a sign-and-trade on Friday. That exception can be used in whole or part and, in effect, allows the Cavs to acquire players without trading anything else back.

There are also sign-and-trade options, which is how the Cavs may be able to get some current restricted free agents without using either the mid-level or trade exceptions.

The sign-and-trade option is perhaps the most intriguing because two of the Cavs' top targets in free agency, sources said, are currently restricted free agents.

One is Atlanta Hawks small forward Josh Childress, who hasn't played in the NBA for the last two years after taking a lucrative offer to play for Olympiakos in Greece. Grant knows Childress well from his days in the Atlanta front office when Childress was drafted.

Childress averaged 11.1 points and 5.6 rebounds in four seasons before taking what amounted to a three-year, $20 million offer from Olympiakos in 2008. He averaged 15.2 points and shot nearly 60 percent from the field in Greece last season.

The Hawks have maintained their rights to Childress. But after signing several players to large contracts over the last two years, including a $124 million deal recently given to Joe Johnson, it isn't believed they are motivated to match a significant offer.

A decision on Childress could come soon because he has until July 15 to opt out of his contract with Olympiakos. The Cavs are believed to be one of several teams interested in him.

Another player the Cavs have on their radar, according to sources, is Houston Rockets restricted free agent guard Kyle Lowry. He's not a flashy player or a great scorer but is known for his strength on defense. He was a backup with the Rockets last season and averaged 9.1 points and 4.5 assists in 24 minutes a game.

Aaron Brooks, the Rockets' starting point guard, emerged as a star last year and may be looking for a healthy contract extension. But the Rockets like Lowry and have sent out the message that they intend to match offers given to him. That might force the Cavs to see if they can manufacture a sign-and-trade if they want him.
Note for commenters

We understand your anger, but please show that Cleveland has class: no racism, no vulgarity, and leave his family out of it. Commenters who cross those lines may have their accounts temporarily or permanently suspended.

One of the options also being examined is whether to use their big trade exception now or save it for later when the options might improve. A player on the trading block who could be acquired this way is Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Al Jefferson. Minnesota has acquired several forwards this summer, including Michael Beasley from the Heat this week. They have openly put Jefferson on the market and are believed to be looking for a combination of prospects, draft picks or salary relief.

At 6-10 and not very quick, Jefferson is a bit undersized to play center and has defensive issues guarding some power forwards. He also had a severe knee injury in 2009 from which he's still recovering.

However, he's very talented offensively, especially with his back to the basket in the low post. He averaged 17.1 points and 9.3 rebounds for the Wolves last season. Before he tore his ACL in February of 2009, Jefferson was having a career year by averaging 23.1 points and 11 rebounds in 50 games.

The stumbling block is that Jefferson is owed $42 million over the next three seasons. The Dallas Mavericks are also among the teams reportedly interested in trading for him.

The Cavs are also looking at several under-the-radar free agents, including small forward Qyntel Woods, who like Childress has been starring in Europe over the last several years. After playing four years in the NBA and having some off-the-court troubles, the 6-9, 230-pound forward has developed overseas.

Last season Woods was first team All-Offense and first team All-Defense in the Euroleague for Prokom of Poland. He averaged 16.9 points and 6.5 rebounds last season when he was regarded as one of the best small forwards in Europe. He has worked out with a handful of teams.

From the LA paper:

LeBron James is the King, all right.

The King of Crass. The King of Callous. The King of Cowardice.

What kind of man arranges and stars in a nationally televised infomercial during which he kicks his hometown to the curb? What kind of man summons a crowd of millions to watch him break up with a city that has loved and supported him for 25 years?

LeBron James dragged the Cleveland Cavaliers to the center table of the most crowded, well-lighted joint on the sports landscape Thursday night, then loudly dumped them on the spot.

The basketball news is that two-time defending most valuable player James has announced he will be joining stars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh on the Miami Heat.

The human news is that, almost overnight, one of basketball's most likable figures has turned into a complete jerk.

James has every right to use free agency to leave a place where he didn't feel he could win a championship. But he had no right to publicly humiliate his neighbors in the process.

That hourlong ESPN program produced and directed by the 25-year-old James and his team of young sycophants Thursday was called "The Decision." It turns out the biggest decision was by James to strip himself of the most basic human decency, and he will again never look the same.

If you are going to leave the team where you've spent all seven seasons, leave the area where you've spent all 25 years, doesn't decorum dictate that you do it quietly, gently, gracefully? Given that this town hasn't enjoyed a major sports championship in 46 years, and given that your departure could keep them from winning anything for many more years, don't you think of them first? Did no part of last season's $15.8-million salary mandate, you know, manners?

You want to leave this place where you are so beloved, fine. Leave it like a man. Issue a news release announcing your decision and thanking Cleveland for its support. Hold a local news conference with the Cleveland media to reiterate those thanks. Then, and only then, do you appear on a national ESPN show to talk about your decision.

But no, years of coddling have filled James with such narcissism that he no longer sees anyone but himself. While reaping financial rewards as this country's most successful basketball prodigy, James has paid the price in a failure to develop integrity or character. Hey, if you can dunk on someone, why do you have to be sensitive to them?

(I interrupt this rant to remind the dear reader of another notion that James has conveniently ignored in his quest for fame. He. Has. Won. Zero. Championships.)

So anyway, the hell with Cleveland. James stepped on the makeshift ESPN stage at a youth gym in Greenwich, Conn., on Thursday wearing a tight shirt and a weird grin. He stretched the suspense for 30 full minutes, then finally announced he was "taking my talents to South Beach" while admitting that the Cavaliers were also hearing this for the first time.

That was why this show was so wrong. It wasn't about a lack of journalistic ethics, but human ethics. James used his awesome power not to inform or entertain, but to belittle. After his announcement, there appeared video of Cleveland fans screaming at a bar television, then burning a James shirt in the street. Maybe this would have happened if James had been a little more discerning, but I doubt it. Cleveland had been nationally embarrassed, and reacted in the small way that James made it feel.

I thought he would never arrange the show if he wasn't going to Cleveland. I thought wrong. It turns out, when it comes to LeBron James, I thought wrong about a lot of things.

I thought he was a leader. But by going to a team that already has an established superstar who has already won one NBA title, he showed he is a follower. He doesn't want the ball in the final minute. He doesn't want the pressure in the final month. The way he crumbled against Boston in this year's postseason was not a blip. The King doesn't have the stomach to be the Man.

Don't buy the spin that, because he could have made a guaranteed $30 million more on a potential Cavaliers contract, James is leaving Cleveland only because he wants to win. Cleveland did win while he was there, making it to the NBA Finals once and finishing with basketball's best record twice. He left because he didn't have the innards to take the final step with complementary players that the Cavaliers continued to acquire.

At the end of his infomercial Thursday, while pumping the Boys & Girls clubs who benefited from the commercials sold for this mess, James talked about helping the children and kindly noted, "One day we might have another LeBron."

Lord, I hope not.

I've actually gained a bit of respect for Braylon Edwards for punching a member of LeBron's entourage last fall.

I really, really do NOT want Jefferson. Injuries and size/speed matchup problems don't exactly add up a successful foundational piece for a rebuilding team.

I think Bosh answered that one for us.

Man, I don't know about that now. In hindsight I think the Cavs attempted that sign and trade to appease Lebron. Bosh even said he had no problem with coming to Cleveland but he didn't know if James would be here. So I am thinking Lequit killed that sign and trade because he knew he was gone, the same as he just ignored Izzo, he knew he was out so he just refused to talk to Izzo because he knew Izzo wanted a answer .

Bingo. If James had said the word and committed, I have no doubt Bosh would have come. Pair this with the reports coming out of how long this was potentially in the works, and I think there's little question he never intended to re-sign with the Cavs.

i mean really, think about it.

those 3 wanted to play together but really the only way it was going to happen is if they went to miami.

so when you realize that, then you will realize that the only reason lebron and his "team" rolled all of these teams into downtown cleveland at IMG was to create this giant circus.

couple that with the hour long pr nightmare, and you have yourself a diversion.

what other reason would there be to have all this?

why did dwyane wade go to chicago?

I agree, I think they had this planned for a long time. I feel like such an ass rooting for and defending this guy over the last three years.

I guess the kid in me still tries to find some sort of a connection with a player. No longer will I be able to do that. I'm finished buying jerseys. I've got a closet full of Cleveland jerseys and the only one left on a Cleveland team is David Zastudil.

Ehhh, the South Beach party atmosphere beat us out no matter what!

These are twenty something boys (not men). I expect problems from one or more with the party scene and shady characters there.

Very true my company had me down there for almost a year. Trust me when I say that Miami is the croch of the US.
Sure they have beautifull white sandy beach's, but the Crime element is a lot worse then Miami would like the rest of the world know.

As for the nike poster I would like to see everyone with a paint ball gun. Splatter the poster tonight.

I'd love to see the Q set up with some giant trash cans with James' face on them the 1st time the Cavaliers play the Heat. People could all come in wearing their #23 jerseys ...... sit down ......and then .... right before the game starts ... while the players are doing their final warm up ...... start a procession down the aisles ....each person dumping their #23 in the trash with distain ......

I havent seen anyone else talking about this

Quote:

With the league's collective bargaining agreement set to expire after next season, the owners are poised to go the way of the NHL and insist on a hard salary cap in the next deal that could be in the neighborhood of $45 million. If they are successful in that attempt -- likely after a lockout like the one endured by the NHL in 2004-05 -- the Heat and a number of other teams could be forced to release key players if their salaries surpassed the cap.

James, Wade and Bosh are reportedly scheduled to make a combined $43 million on their own next season with 10 percent annual raises thereafter, potentially meaning a nightmare scenario on South Beach. The Heat would hardly be alone in their despair, as the defending champion Lakers have approximately $80 million in committed salaries for the 2011-12 season and are slated to pay a combined $45 million for Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol alone.

web page

This could be epic because A) it would either force the Heat to keep Lebron, Wade, and Bosh and then have 9 other scrubs for the min or they get rid one of the three, most likely Lebron or bosh so they could have a team and B) this would make the league more competitive when teams cant have that many super stars on their team.

Oh before anyone asks, if Miami has to get rid of LeBron theres no way in hell I'd want us to resign that ....

I'd rather see Bosh dumped.

I just think that he'd be a lot more vocal and whiny if it happened.

The Heat would then also have to dump all of the other guys they just signed as well. $33 million tied up in Wade and James...... (year 2, if they make $15 in year 1, plus 10% raises) and then 10 other guys making a million each would put them at $43 million in year 2.

I am really coming around to the viewpoint that the Cavaliers should just sign some scrubs at this point and wait for the new CBA before committing 5 years and major dollars to any "iffy talent". If there was a "Shaq in his prime" available ...... I'd say go for it ...... but anything less could completely gum up the works for this franchise for a long time. If this does happen, it's going to limit each team to 1 - 2 "premium" superstar(s), depending on how their contracts work out ..... so we need to make sure that it's an exceptional one .... not just a "get by" kinda guy.
