What really can be done? Fine them a few thousand dollars? Sit them a few games? It would be almost impossible to prove the Heat front office was involved. As far as player tampering....again, what's the penalty?
You know what I think would be funny......go NCAA on them....a postseason ban for 4-5 years....LMAO!!!! Even if it is just the players and not the team .....
I thought I was wrong once....but I was mistaken...
What's the use of wearing your lucky rocketship underpants if nobody wants to see them????

ya know, it's gonna be really tough, but i would rather see the cavs build up a team that beats them in a playoff series than i would see them hit with tampering.
the cavs have a better chance of building up a team to beat miami then we have of seeing stern actually dig into this and ding them.

Sterns not going to ding them. He wanted this to happen, and did everything in his power to make sure it happened.

i don't know about that. from a business perspective he probably would have liked to have seen them team up in new york if at all, of course being happy about it behind closed doors.
but i think he's unhappy about the way this went down. the whole thing stinks.
i still don't get why it all went down the way it did. if lbj wanted out, which seems like he has for AT LEAST months. then why bring all these teams out to cleveland? why do that hour long decision show?
the only real explanation is that it was a diversion, and that sounds like you're being a conspiracy theorist.
but honestly, i don't see him doing the hour long show just for money. considering he passed up almost 40m in guaranteed money from the cavs.
the whole thing smells rotten.
i don't think stern wanted it like this, but i don't think he's kicking and screaming about it either.

Stern has a growing problem unless he figures out how to fix it. You already have Chris Paul saying publicly that they will form their own NY dream team with him, Melo, and Stoudemire... How is that going to play in New Orleans this year that their best player has already said he's leaving for the big market and his own dream team as soon as he can?...
Unless somebody steps in and does something this trend will continue with free agents colluding and joining forces and picking places where they can all play together and you will end up with half a dozen relevant franchises in the NBA and.. voila, the NBA will be just like MLB only with a salary structure.
Because the problem is that 2 or 3 guys can totally swing the balance of power in basketball unlike football or baseball where it takes more guys..

That's irrelevant. It is just a trend that sucks for any mid to small market team that hopes to compete, even one like Cleveland that is obviously willing to spend the money because if these guys are going to team up and go somewhere.. it ain't going to be Cleveland, Milwaukee, Detroit, etc.

Personally, I think he knew he was leaving 3 years ago. He didn't know where, but he was going. Now according to Windy (on twitter), GM's are saying that LBJ has been recruiting more in the last five days then he has in the last 3 years. Sounds like a guy who wants to win a championship for his home town. Now as far a Stern goes, why do I think he was pulling strings to get them together? 1. when asked about this grand summit months ago (players, under contract with their teams, actively recruiting other players under contract), he responded with something along the line of 'let them have it'. 2. while making statements about how everyone is losing so much money in the NBA, the CBA must change because teams can't afford this anymore, as cataloged here, he in fact RAISED the salary cap by two million dollars from where it was going to be. I think he's is now showing his displeasure about it (only now mind you, he showed NO displeasure with it before now) because 1. his superstar face of the league guy is now nationally viewed as a class A asshat who took the easy way out, giving his home town double barreled fingers on his way out. 2. one of his owners flew off the handle ripping said class A asshat, and therefore involving good ol' Jessie Jackson, who predictably threw out the race card. Call it conspiracy theory, call it whatever you want, something fishy.

Lachoke has sold his sole to the devil. I hope Karma comes back to bite him in the @. The NBA will never be the same. Stern's fine on Dan Gilbert is condoning the real issue and will forever be a black eye to the NBA as a whole.

I disagree.
picking nits here. both would be nearly unstoppable on offense. but, I can't help it because it is a fun debate:
CP3 handling the point, with Melo on the block and Amare for the pick-n-roll is just lethal on offense. When Melo handles the pick, Amare can crash hard on the backside for the dish or rebound.
Wade handling the point, with Bosh on the block and LeBron for the pick-n-roll is also lethal on offense. When Bosh handles the pick, LeBron can crash hard on the backside for the dish or rebound.
========================
I'd take the CP3 team if I needed more mid-range shooting for my offense. Melo and Amare are great in the midrange game. I'd also take them as my fastbreak team because as much praise as LeBron gets, there is noone better on the run than CP3 (including Nash IMO).
I'd take the Wade team if I was doing more of a DDM offense. Wade and LeBron can drive as well as anyone in the NBA and are better outside shooters than the CP3 team. Even Bosh has a better outside shot than Melo/Amare (his midrange game isn't quite as good though).

I disagree. Cuban was fined for his rant on Nash. The problem is to fine the NBA likes to have proof. Well, posting a letter on your official page is pretty easy to prove what you said was defammatory.
Gilbert deserves his fine. And, I am sure he knew he was getting it when he posted that letter (and likely will make up that fine and more with how the fans galvanized behind him from it).

Any news on what the Cavs are doing roster wise? There was that whole Josh Childress thing, but he's apparently going to Phoenix or something...

Cavs haven't been in the Al Jefferson rumors much. Or much else for that matter (I still like the Marvin Williams rumor).
We'll see. Hopefully, Chris Grant is gathering up his options so he can make an informed plan as to what approach to actually take.

I can't believe what a punk James turned out to be. We are definitely better off with him gone. We were never going to win a title with him, because he would have done everything in his power to prevent it from happening. Personally, I hope James chokes
Never mind .... I don't want to get banned for finishing that sentence. I'll just say that I hope he chokes at critical moments, and leave it at that.

He already has choked in my book. He is such a balloon head he thinks he can turn down a championship this past season in Cleveland to go play with his 3 PALs in Miami and win 7 for them
I was reading a post (rumor) on another board.......were they are talking about Shack coming to play for League minimum with them.

I don't think Shaq is too happy that LeBron let Kobe get ahead of him in the ring chase this past season.

I feel bad for the Fans and the state of Ohio, but we can not forget that he was one individual on a team that came so close to the big dance.
My sig is a tribute to the rest of the team whom he betrayed.

Yeah, Shaq has badmouthed Wade and Bosh and now gotten punked by LeBron. I couldn't see him signing with the Heat now.
I wouldn't mind bringing him back for a year, just not anything longterm.
Would anyone be surprised if we had unprecedented co-MVPs next season?

I hope they get Shaq.. I wish they would have gotten Fisher.. they can have Stoudemier, Melo and CP3 now for all I care..
I'm sort of changing my line of thinking to one of.. they are going to win a lot of games and they are probably going to win a couple championships so.. load up the team to the point where winning the championships are essentially meaningless to building any individual legacy and where any year where they don't win the championship is one of total disappointment..

This reminds me of those early 2000 USA Basketball teams. The ones that were full of themselves and thought they had the games won before they played. The ones that the rest of the world hated and were actually pretty hard to cheer for as an American. Of course, when they lost ... eveyrone else rejoiced and it was a huge disappointment and shame for the team.
