it's gonna be weird seeing z in a different jersey. really weird. not so much with lebron, because bspn has been force-feeding us pictures of him in a knicks jersey for 3 years, and just recently over the last 2 months, pictures of him in a bulls, nets, and heat jersey. they were doing that before the cavs even lost that series. as soon as that game 5 happened, they went nuts with it, like they have been sitting and waiting to pounce on that story. it's really funny how they didn't even try to be objective, truth be told they wanted him out of cleveland so bad they couldn't wait to run that special.

All indications are that the Rockets plan on matching our offer for Lowry.

I was thinking about this last night. A "fun" way to get back at LBJ a bit. We would have to thank "Z" for this. Literally....Thank Z. Picture the first trip to the Q for the Heat.... After introducing the Heat (thereby having them on the floor), do one of those tributes like the Indians did with Omar, Thome, etc. Start of with a great tribute to "Z" on the jumbo tron showing his moments with the Cavs. After that, start a tribute to James.... Start rolling tape with him saying, "I'm taking my talents to South Beach." Then....end tape.

i saw someone on facebook is trying to put together something for the game, trying to get fans to go downtown, but not to the game.
they're encouraging restaurant owners in the area to offer 50% off to anyone who shows a ticket for the game.
i think it will be extremely difficult, but i think it is possible to get it done. i think it would send the strongest message, without us looking like buffoons for booing and holding up signs and chanting offensive stuff like i suggested.

My roommate and I are already looking into Wizard Heat tickets to go and Boo LBJ. Sorry I cant help it.I want to be there, just like with Userlooser came back to Cleveland. If the Packer fans can go to the Vikings game, I think we can go to the Cavs game.

The Rockets said they are willing to match any reasonable offer.
IT is unclear how the contract is structured, but could be as much as 6 million per year.
I am going to go out on a limb here (good fat one) and state that Donte West will be the next to fly to South Beach and 'hide his head in the sand'

I"m not sure that will ever happen.., But I have no problem honoring Z. He's been loyal as any player can be. Of course, the Cavs were pretty darn loyal to him as well going back to the time when he had the foot issues and missed a ton of games...
As for LBJ,, I'd have no problem snubbing him..

I think we'd all like to see Z get a ring before he's done. Just stinks that he partnered w/ lbj to do it.

I'm not sure how I feel about the whole LBJ/Z relationship...
When we beat Detroit to advance to the Finals, and Lebron immediatly ran to Z and hugged him, it was a great moment...
THIS however, has a stench to it, I don't think Lebron cares about Z at all, he just knows his team is void of depth, needs a big man, and he happens to know one...
Sorry Z, I love ya, woulda even rooted for Kobe to get another ring if you were there, but not that team, no way...

On the contrary, I think LBJ really cares about Z ... Z is the most tenured teammate he's ever had in his life. I think I'm taking an indefinite sabbatical from the NBA.

i honestly don't care. i will always love z, i think he'll always have a place in cavs history, he deserved to get a ring in cleveland, didn't happen, i hope he gets one elsewhere, even if it's miami.
he had every right to leave (just like lebron) he's going about it the classy way, and he even hinted at it all year that he thought it would be his last year in cleveland.
classy guy. i wish him the best.
i think it's best for both parties. the cavs need to move on.

Exactly - Z was a professional about it. But going forward there probably wasn't a good place for him here if we want to be young and run the ball.

i honestly don't think he's a great fit for miami. he fills a need since ru paul doesn't want to play center. but they aren't really looking like a half court type team.
but again, centers are so hard to come by. i mean jeez look what brendan heywood got. he's a decent center (thought he would be a nice fit if lbj came back) but he's no jabbar.

Anyone know how much of their remaining salary Miami has tied up in Z, Haslem and Miller?

I don't see how anyone can be mad at Z or not support Z. He's the very thing we say we want athletes to be, and he's one of us. I hope he does get a ring, even if it is in Miami. It won't sting me that bad personally because I expect to have to suffer through seeing Miami win championships now that they have the most stacked team in the league anyway. At least now I can be happy for Z instead of just plain mad if it happens.

Saw some reactions to Kyle Lowry. Got this quote off of web page Quote:
""[The Kyle Lowry offer sheet is] exactly why I have been afraid to look at any move the Cavs are going to make this offseason. Everyone with any understanding of how the NBA works, particularly in small markets like Cleveland, knows that the Cavs absolutely must blow up the team, get as bad as possible for three seasons and hope that they get lucky in the draft by finding a legitimate superstar and two near-All-Star-quality pieces. Instead, the Cavs are offering to commit another $6 million per season to an undersized guard with poor point guard instincts."
Makes a good point.

I certainly want to tear down and rebuild and stink up the joint in hopes of finding the next Kevin Durant, I think most non casual fans like me do. But I can see why Gilbert doesn't want to do it. He's got to worry about downtown staying busy because he has such a vested interest in the whole area now, and a good way to do that is to get people to come to Cavs games. People won't show for a lottery team like they will for a playoff team, and that's a lot of dollars he and the rest of the local economy is losing by rebuilding. I don't like it, but it at least makes a little sense to me.

Sounds about right. Anywhere that puts in chance to win the #1 pick.

hopefully we can find someone as humble as kevin durant. someone who's contract extension wasn't even an A or B level story. not saying he doesn't turn out to be another me me me diva, but right now it looks like he has a good head on his shoulders and that town is starting to really wrap their arms around him, i hope stays with that team for his entire career.
i agree, the funny thing is, dan gilbert seems like he wants to appease season ticket holders and cavs fans in general, but i have not heard one cav fan, on here, or of anyone i know personally, say they want gilbert to keep this going.
nobody wants to be a 45 win team and a 7 or 8 seed. no thanks. i'd rahter have that slim shot in the lotto to get the #1 pick.

The next kevin durant to me would be Perry Jones. Perry is 6'11 230 but should play SF because he is athletic and can drill the 3. He'll be put at PF for Baylor so he'll have more chances to work on his inside moves. Harrison Barnes reminds me of melo. Just a pure raw scorer and can actually play defense. Kyle Irving is interesting to me. He's just so damn fast. He's got Ty Lawson speed but he's more of a field general and can play defense. So I guess he's like rajon rondo. Lastly my boy Jared Sullinger. He's a big physical pressence at PF at 6'9 285 lbs. He's a little chunky but he's strong as hell. Reminds me of Al Horford but a far superior offensive player. He really needs to work on his defense though. I hope we can get david lighty in the 2nd round!

I think Gilbert feels he owes it to the season ticket holders that he forced to re-up before the playoffs. He wants them to re-up next season too.
I have mixed feelings on Lowry. He is very good defensively. He is a good penetrator though not a great passer from there. He isn't very efficient offensively, but he certainly can play well on a fast paced team. But, like it was mentioned, he's one of the pieces that helps you stay like the Rockets. Lock in a #5-#10 spot in your conference (depending on injuries) without any real threat of moving up.
If we are going this route, hopefully we are not close to being done and we can at least create a high-flying team that is incredibly entertaining to watch. If we are going to be stuck in limbo, I want a team that is fun to watch (and yes, I want them to play defense too. but pressure defense / pressure offense. it's more fun that way).

What is there to say we have to lose 60 some odd games to get good? What if we become one of the first actual teams to play a team dynamic? The whole "WE NEED A SUPERSTAR OR WE ARE DOOMED!!!!" mentality needs to be dropped because last I heard it's a team of individuals who work together that win a championship instead of picking a chosen one to eventually get us a championship.

true, however, we have a bunch of guys who were put on this team to be complimentary of one guy, one guy who is no longer with the team.
i think the current team can win 40-45 games, but that will net us nothing. our only true young talent is jj, and i guess eyenga...
jamison can be a chip used as soon as next summer... mo williams i think can be dealt almost immediately (i think a lot of teams will take his shooting)
i would love to get the next durant, but i will settle for a guy like evans, or rose, who are stars but not to the level of lbj or kd...
we need an influx of young guys.
good thing is we are not in a hurry to do so, i would love to see them take their time and not have to worry about making one guy happy so he doesn't bolt.
they now have room to go about things the right way. it will be painful, but if done right, can be very very very rewarding.
and just remember the best chance the cavs have at getting really good players is to draft them. yes, lbj ditched the bird rights and took less $$ but do you honestly see every guy doing that? and forget the dan gilbert stuff. most of those guys aren't gonna ditch extra $$ like that.
it's just gonna suck for a while. but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

That's assuming Gilbert is going that route. His letter pretty much said the opposite. Only way to win before Miami does is to force it now.

considering very few teams have won the nba championship.. none.
lakers - kobe/pau celts -big 3 spurs -duncan with 2 pretty good all star caliber guys heat - wade with a bunch of guys on the brink of retirement pistons with nobody just good coaching lakers with shaq/kobe then the jordan years with olajuwon between pistons with isiah, that might be the closest thing to the other pistons kinda not having a superstar, but isiah was bad ass. showtime lakers larry's celtics dr j's 76ers that supersonics team had dennis johnson and even he's an hof'er.
you definitely need a star

Which was a total mistake. No reason to force it when nobody would come here. That would only mean building a potential 45-50 win team with bad contracts and maybe bad players.
Blow it up.

Rockets keeping Lowry LAS VEGAS -- The Cavaliers' flirtation with Kyle Lowry was short-lived. Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey announced via his Twitter feed today that the Rockets would be matching the four-year, $24 million offer the Cavs signed Lowry to on Tuesday night. Houston had a week to consider matching the offer but barely took 12 hours, backing up their statements over the last several weeks that they'd match reasonable offers for the quick guard. "We plan to match the agreement, and we are excited he will be returning to the Rockets," Morey wrote on Twitter. According to a source, the Cavs attempted to work out a sign-and-trade offer for Lowry before presenting the offer sheet, but the Rockets declined to take part. The Cavs will retain full use of their mid-level exception of $5.7 million to chase other free agents. They have been in trade talks with various guards, looking for a quick ball-handler in a new up-tempo offense. Lowry, 24, averaged 9.1 points and 4.5 assists as a backup for the Rockets last season.

yeah 40-45 is too much, i am gonna go 10 less. 35ish
but if you're gonna win 35max, then you might as well only win 20
