Otagwe signed for 5 years at a maximum of $32 million.
As I understand it .... it is really a 1 year $4.1 million deal, because he gets $11 million in 2011 guaranteed if the contract isn't voided prior to that.
Hardly a back breaking contract for an NFL team, especially in an uncapped year.

The only coach in this league who I would trust to know about players being drafted would be Pete Carroll ... and that would be exclusively on the USC players ... otherwise I'm sure the scouts know more about a player than an actual coach would. Scouts job = find out about other college players ... Coaches' job = Coach their own players and maybe a LITTLE bit of scouting so they can have a say in who their team drafts
But in other news ... I heard one of our coaches say that Sam Bradford isn't a good quarterback ... so I guess when the Rams here this they will have to move him to Safety ...

I think it is just assumed that when the article says he can't play corner it means he will move positions. And he wouldn't move to linebacker or kicker.

I dont know what the big controversy is all about. Brown and Wright is a pretty good starting tandem and although Haden has never played safety he is tailor made for the position.
Now look at our safety position. We have 3 types of safety on this roster.
Type 1 Cant cover
Type 2 Cant tackle
Type 3 Can neither tackle nor cover
Haden at safety becomes the best cover safety and also the surest tackler at safety. I would have zero issues with him making a permanent move to safety. frankly I really do not believe we have improved the safety position at all to this point. Hell move DQ to safety as well. He can cover better than most of the safeties we have anyway.

Well, we haven't had good safety coverage for quite a while. I think he will show enough upside to move if needed. ANY tackling and run support would be appreciated back there, especially after the ongoing "dive and whiff" I saw for the last couple seasons. Beat 'em up every chance you get. And press coverage would help as well.

I have no idea how Ward and Assante will work out over the long haul, but one thing for sure about both of them, they appear to be sure tacklers and VERY heard hitters. That much I'm sure of. How it plays out in real games,,, got me.. But we won't have to worry about tackling or hitting from them...

I believe these sources were legit, they just happen to be girls volleyball coaches in the MVPA league.

I hope these rumors turn out to be wrong. Remember we could have drafted Earl Thomas. A safety with the speed to play CB' or the big kid S from USC who is a real hitter.

If I recall correctly, speed is about all Earl Thomas had going for him. Hell of an athlete, not much of a football player.

CLEVELAND BROWNS

Red-chip players: CB Eric Wright.
The Browns still have a very long way to go, but what worries me most about them is they did not add any blue or red players in the offseason. A bad team with money should be able to add at least one red player.

then Texas did a heck of a job scheming for him because he was making plays all over the field.
(note: USC did such a job scheming for Mays 2 years ago, so it is entirely possible with a good defensive mind in Muschamp)

I'd bet Earl Thomas will be very good. However, I believe Haden was the safest choice available to us at our slot.
As for the Ward pick....eeennnnhhhh...

I agree. But, then again, I was on record last October after watching a few Florida games as saying Haden was the third best prospect coming out (after Suh and Berry). Not stating for a pat-on-the-back as noone knows, just saying that I might be biased on the matter.
