Shaun Rogers helps catch DUI driver

This time, Shaun Rogers was on the right side of the law.

Fox 8 News in Cleveland reports the Browns defensive tackle called 911 on Thursday to report an erratic driver he saw on the road. Rogers stayed on the line and followed the car, which swerved off the road multiple times. Eventually it stopped in the middle of a busy highway with part of the car sticking out into traffic.

"Mr. Rogers positioned himself behind that vehicle and turned his emergency flashers on to notify other drivers that there was an emergency on the road, and I don't know what would've happened had he not done that," Middleburg Heights Police Chief John Maddox said.

Ultimately, 20-year-old John Nykiel was charged with a DUI and operating an unsafe vehicle.

"I thought his actions were above and beyond and I wanted to express to him as chief of police how much we appreciate what he did that night he helped keep Middleburg Heights safe," Maddox said.

Nice work, Shaun. Who says we never print positive stories?

Way to go Shaun. While many may think you tanked last season or you're a complete knucklehead I think this shows a lot about your character.

That was the first thing I thought of when I read the article. This is what you might call a mitigating circrumstance with respect to the character of SR.

While what he did in this situation was a good thing, I wouldn't say it was a mitigating factor - or should be. It's called doing the right thing.

We shouldn't make heros of people that do what should be done.

I don't think anyone is calling him a hero, but I wonder had he not been involved in the airport fiasco, would he have done this?

I get what you're saying arch, doing the right thing doesn't make him a hero, but this is a positive story about an NFL player and Goodel hopefully will take it into consideration when dealing with the airport/gun thing.

I don't think that there is any evidence given the information to assume that that the Airport/Gun thing was running through his head when he did this. It's just as likely that the only thing running through his mind was to safely take a drunk driver off the road.

I'll certainly applaud him for doing the right thing though... (not too many people do) he could have easily turned off in an intersection and let someone else handle the problem.

i've actually done that before, the person ahead of us was swerving into the other lane and getting back into the original lane, kept doing it. i didn't wanna seem like a busybody, but i also realized in the back of my head that there was a good chance this guy was gonna hit someone else or hit someone walking or who knows, and that would be part my fault for not calling. so we did. turns out the guy was in fact hammered.

good for shaun. now please stop messing around with guns in airports and start shedding double teams.
