I posted in a thread about Joe Haden' and it got deleted...is it because i refered to something from is twitter account? If so that is a very weak reason to delete my comment considering I only said I hope he is going to sign, because he said he is going to cleveland on his twitter.......I also talked about eric wright changing his number......I havent posted in these threads for a long time...and first time I do it gets the axe......seriously this place is hardly worth posting in anymore considering the other's that have had post deleted for very weak reasons..

Maybe you refs should lighten up and let us talk some dang football!

It's probably the twitter thing.. I believe there was a big discussion about it awhile back, but we were not able to change any minds to loosen up about it... But i'm sure a Ref can correct me if i'm wrong.

i didnt link a twitter account, nor was my post only about him getting on a plane....it was more about how I hope we get him in camp on time, then i mentioned that he posted on twitter that he was heading to cleveland, and I said hopefully its to sign his contract.....pretty weak reason to delete other than a mod power trip

From the Rules of the Pound:

RUMORS

If you cannot cite a source when posting information to the board, please do not post it at all. Saying that you saw something on television or heard it on the radio is not sufficient as a valid source. Rumors do not lend to valid discussion and will be removed when seen by a moderator.

it wasnt a rumor, he posted on twitter that he was heading to cleveland, and I stated that I hope he is heading there to sign......not sure how you can get a rumor out of that.....it came from the players own verified twitter account words...

then me being excited said I hope he is going to sign....never said it was a slamdunk take it to the bank, cash it, and enjoy your purchase. Geez its like you guys dont want us to discuss our feelings or excitement about the upcoming season

and twitter is not currently a recognized/permitted reference on here. The fact that twitter is not allowed here is nothing new.

Even though legitimate news outlets refer to it as a source.

There are way to many fake twitter accounts out there to consider twitter reliable IMO.

Is Al Gore your dad?

The internet has evolved alright - into a "anyone can post anything" kind of place. Blogs, twitter.........just because you read it somewhere doesn't mean it's true.

I have a semi-legitimate question.

Along the lines of what we're discussing here, is Wikipedia a credible source?

I vote no on Wikipedia. I use it at times, but certainly not for facts.

Wikipedia isn't a news outlet, so no, it isn't a valid source.

As for whether or not it is valid for use as factual reference - everybody knows that Wiki is open to tampering and isn't always reliable. Go ahead and use it, but know that you may get laughed at for it.

Twitter verifies accounts.

I don't use Twitter, but I don't understand why a verified account, can't be used as a source

It will be, eventually, but not until I can automate the verification process as I am not going to expect or ask the Refs to check every single twitter link manually to ensure that it isn't from Joe Schmuckatelli.

Dont they have to check the links anyways? Its actually very easy as the twitter site is a very simplistic setup. There is no searching, scrolling, its right there when you click next to the users name.

Can you PM a link to a celebrity or pro athlete who has a "verified" Facebook account? I have never seen Facebook verify their accounts.

I dont see any verification. Are you interpreting a private facebook account as verified? I could easily make a fake celebrity facebook account and make it private, not sure how that means Facebook verifies accounts?

No, there is no way anyone will ever verify every single link posted. For most, it is simply a matter of looking at where it is linking to. If the site is known, then the link is acceptable.

And I will not ask these volunteers to do what I wouldn't, which is to check every single Twitter link to check the validity of the account being linked to.

Furthermore, any links that are verified, will also be checked against the language filter as normal rules for linking will apply in that you may not post profanity, nor link to a page containing it.
If some random Joe on the page is dropping F-bombs, the link will be rejected.

This is a non issue as you dont see other peoples tweets on the person page, only the person doing the tweeting.

Along with the fact that you can link directly to the tweet rather than the full page.

To be honest, I am not even sure you can swear on Twitter, i think it might be already filtered, Im not sure about that though as I dont "tweet", I only use it for the news.

I guess I dont see the big deal, it doesnt seem like it would create more work.

At some point those sites had to be checked though. Eventually the same would be done with the twitter links. A link to Adam Schefters twitter obviously would not have to be checked then.

I didn't know Twitter had an automated thing. I was trying to show a point, by posting one.

Have the rule where when you paste the link, the clickable link, has to be the twitter URL. That way the ref could look at it, see who's Twitter it is, and not have to click on it to check.

I just don't understand why we can't use someone like Adam Schefter on Twitter...

Yeah I do. There's been a shift in the content of this place over the past couple years. Good people have left and few good new people have come in their place.

Everything's a political debate or some kind of discussion of how this country's going down the tubes. It's miserable to read and a major reason why I've been posting less and less.
