MOUNT UNION PURPLE RAIDERS WIN TODAY!!!! Got word first hand They will be facing Capitol next week........guess Capitol couldn't get enough from the last beating they took at the hands of the Purple Raiders. (yes GG that's for you )

Sorry 'Bird, Capital is here in my "local" rooting area, but northeast Ohio is Home.

What a program.

I hate em... I'll cheer for them in the playoffs when not playing an OAC team... but hate em... I'm a BWC grad so it's engrained. I have gotten to see them play in the championship in Salem (grandparents live 5 min from the stadium)

Yeah - anytime an Ohio school or OAC school wins is good in my mind... but i remember getting thrashed byb Mount like 77-0 at half at home

but the best game was my freshman year when we were up on the hill and a girl from BWC stole the Mount flag... HUGE fight that I got stuck in the middle of - all 140lbs of me was trying to not get beat up too badly... I know 'beer' was at that game too! It was awesome.

Great job Penguins! James Madison looked tough.

I grew up in Boardman, which is a Youngstown suburb, so I always keep track of YSU. Nice job!

What I found completely and totally astonishing was Heacock came up with a game plan to throw the ball.

YSU is the # 5 rushing team in the nation,....JM # 4 AGAINST the run.

Where'd he get that idea,....?

Musta' had lunch with his old boss last week,....

He stated at halftime that JMU was defending the run, so he was passing to adjust to their defense...

I was kind of referring tounge-in-cheek that Heacock had a game plan that won the ball game, like his old mentor, Mr JT.

The Guinnies got 'r done again this weekend,....next week's game vs. # 1 Appalachian State -- at their house -- is gonna be way too tough a draw though for YSU. Playoff run ends in Boone, NC. App State looked really good yesterday,....

I forgot they were playing Appy when I talked to you yesterday.

Nobody is going to beat Appy. That team could give any DI school all they could handle and beat a prety good number of them.

As I always complain about the parochial schools, this is exactly why I always talk about "moving up" a notch. They should become a D-1 school. They really are good. YSU is just not the same without Tressel--not an excuse, just a reason,....my dogs, The Citadel, play in the same conference. We used to beat these guys up back in the late 70's, ....

Chattanooga is in the Southern as well, and at one time were on top of that league. Now, we barely manage 2 wins a year.

No way they can move up, the school and town is just too small to support more than they have. Boone, NC is a dinky town stuck in a hollow in the mtns. It isn't like Chattanooga or Charleston that could possibly make the switch. It is mostly 2nd retirement homes, rentals, and tourists who want fresh mtn air in the warmer months and to ski in the cold months. And those aren't really the demographics that put fans into seats to watch a football game. Retired people already have the teams they follow. They usually don't latch onto the local team in the area they decided to retire or visit a few weeks, months a year.

I think to move up you need a 40,000 seat stadium at minimum and have had to average 30-35,000 fans a game something like 3 out of the 5 preceding years.

They don't have a stadium that big nor could they ever meet the attendance requirements. If would require drawing nearly everybody with-in 30 miles to do that....and they probably already do capture about everybody inside that area who would consider going to games.

Well they could move up into the MAC with a 25,000 seat stadium.

Peden Stadium's attendance record I believe is 26,000. It hasn't filled up close to that since the OU/Pitt game.

I ain't all up to speed on the qualifiers to go D-1, I was just talking about the quality of play; it is worthy.
