It's always good to do some outdoor cooking, and today is no different. Today we are going to the city pool, the little park surrounding the pool has grills, so today it's burgers and hotdogs, I wish I could say its steak of teryaki chicken, but when you are a "BBQ Nomad" ( We live in an apartement that does not permit grills ) you have to go with simple things to cook on the grill. So if your in Willoughby today and driving down Rt 20 and if you pass the pool around 3pm, and you see an old looking hillbilly guy with a yellow swim trunks on at a grill, well that's me, I can't say that we'll have enough to share, but I will say hi!!!!

Oh man, I've had those kinda burgers before,, they are great.. yum..

I know you all have made Meatloaf right.. well if you use meatloaf mix, (Pork, beef and veal I think..) Add in some bread crumbs, an egg, salt and pepper and some peccorino romano cheese.. mix and form into patties..

Grill until done,, YUM to that also...

PS: It's the exact same thing as making meatballs for pasta sauce...LOL

to some, it may taste better to bake them in the oven at 350 for 20 minutes, then flip and do another 20 minutes...

"patties made of italian sausage and ground beef"

What's the ratio between the two, shep? I might give that a whirl.

Shep...I'd like to know the ratio as well. I had the wife take out some hamburger and hot hungarian sausage. Looking forward to trying it. What's your recipe?

Good deal....not enough people mix their meat like that.

I have never done burgers that way(I don't know why) but that is my standard for meatloaf or stuffed green peppers.

Nothing on the grill today...I have some shrimp....doing a shrimp dish I have done at tailgates a time or two...N.O. BBQ shrimp....lots of garlic, tarragon, Worcester, and Cajun seasoning in oil and butter....french bread to sop up the sauce.

so today it's burgers and hotdogs

That's the best! It's what we had for lunch almost everyday on our vacation (along with potato or macaroni salad and fruit). After hiking in the morning, we'd pull over to a picnic area in the woods or along a river and fire up the small propane grill. Those burgers and dogs were just as good the last day as they were the first. The atmosphere adds as much to the enjoyment as the food itself.

LOVE Luigi's! I usually don't get the meat sauce there, so I'm not sure if they've changed it or not. I'm all about the rigatoni with marinara and meatballs or pizza. Their pizzas are FAB!

Admittedly though, I do not get there that often as I find that I enjoy making pasta and mariniara myself, so we stay in for Italian anymore. Now, I just need to master my meatballs and all will be good!

Large Shrimp Skewers, with Ribeye Steak, Zuchinni Squash, Red Oinions, Mushrooms, Peppers, and Potatoes (cut thin and lightly fried).

Add a couple of cobbs of corn!

Belly full after a few cold beers!

Do not grill this up for company ........if you do not want them coming back often!

I have not done this in awhile..........today it turned out really well.

Well, I changed my my mind.

The grill is heating up as I type and am doing the Shep burger....onion and garlic added to the meat mix.

The shrimp are in the freezer. I can make that dish in my sleep....maybe tomorrow.

We did it about 60/40 heavy on the ground beef side.....crusts up like a sausage patty yet is like a burger....is pretty damned good.

Buy ground sausage and ground beef, and mix 'em up.

This past year we ground up our deer with sausage........that's what we use for spaghetti, taco meat, heck, anything you use ground beef for. In past years we mixed the venison with beef - but this stuff is as good if not better.

We've also had venison burgers, mixed with about 25% to 35% bacon. Darn good. I found that too much bacon makes the burgers too salty. I hate salt, but some mix it a bit more with bacon......

Been to Luigi's more times than I can count and can't say I've noticed the sauce is different but I usually get pizza.

You can use tubed sausage,, just squeeze the stuff out and break it up.. but the best is ground...

I wasn't going to grill anything last night, but at the last minute I was starving and decided to treat myself.

I did a Parmesan-Cilantro Swordfish and Shrimp

Hope you enjoy.,..,,

Oh,, I should tell you.. My bread crumbs are a little special.. My mom makes them.

SHe buys ready made bread crumbs then adds finely chopped garlic and parsley and salt and pepper to the mix.. So you may want to chop up some parsly and garlic to add..,

NOT A LOT....

Didn't fire up the grill this weekend but I did host the neighbors for breakfast. I made Scotch Eggs along with a bunch of standard breakfast junk. If you haven't had or made a Scotch Egg, try it out (essentially a hard boiled egg wrapped in breakfast sausage with bread crumbs and fried until GBD).

I served them with a crazy hot mustard I made myself:

Hot Mustard Powder
Wasabi Powder
Cold water

Mix and let sit (the longer you leave before putting in vinegar keeps the heat going up). Then I add a few things to finish

EV Olive Oil
Stone Ground Mustard
Some Vinegar
Fresh Ground Pepper
A splash of lemon juice

It's crazy hot and will clear your sinuses in 2 seconds...but as long as you don't use much, it's great.

Oh, heck yeah I've had those. Darn good, but darn filling!!!!

If we have, say, cheeseburgers - I eat 3. Chicken breasts? I'll have 2 at a minimum, with piles of potatos. Porkchops? 3. Mashed pototas with hamburger gravy? 2 huge plates..........I can eat!!!!!

2 of those things make me almost miserable. They're good, but I've learned 1 is enough for me. But they are darn good.

Oh heck yes!!!

I had totally forgotten about Scotch eggs until this. There's a joint in the Short North in Cbus that made these. YUMMY!!!

Now I have step 1 taken care of for opening day.

Anyone else have any good ideas for 7am Browns games let me know! Aloha!

Mac's also has a chicken salad sandwidch on a croissant that my wife swears by. She's upset now that I mentioned it.

I worked at Mac's in the kitchen during my school days. The scotch egg was a true work of art. The cream cheese sauce they served with it was over the top.

A couple of Scotch Eggs hit the spot after a few pints.

Durty Nellies was the only place in town that served them, and they sold out and the new owners don't serve them.....I wish they did.
