Pashos is like Hardesty now,...he doesn't appear to be contributing.

I know, I'm expecting too much,...but again we gambled on "this" guy too, and I ain't seeing the payback. No big deal, but we need a RT.

OK ... so who makes the team, and who sees their dream come to an end? (or they move on to a different team)
QB: (3) Delhomme, Wallace, McCoy (easy)
RB: (4) Harrison, Hillis, Davis, Hardesty (Taking 4 because Hardesty hasn't played much due to injury) Hardesty to IR -1
FB: (1)Vickers. Of course.
TE: (3) Watson, Moore ..... and Smith? Well, I thought that Smith showed some excellent blocking out of the backfield tonight, and he can definitelty catch the ball. More upside, and possibly even better protection, and he can fill more roles ... which is important for your #3 guy.
Royal is in, Smith is out. He has been 3rd on the depth chart all preseason. They love his blocking.
OL: (8) Thomas, Steinbach, Mack, Lauvoa, Womack, St Clair, Kooistra, Yates. Not a lot of backup guys who can do a lot ..... so the guys who can do 2 things well win out. Pashos stays. If we only go with 8 i think Kooistra is out.
WR: (5) Massaquoi, Robiske, Stuckey, Cribbs, Steptoe (Yes, the surprise of the season as Steptoe actually makes the team. Versatility and the ability to play inside and outside win out)
Steptoe out, Engram in. I thought there was no way we would keep him but he has proven himself. he also is a veteran that can help the younger kids.
DL:(7) Rogers, Rubin, Robaire Smith, Geathers, Robinson, Schaefering, and probably the choice between Moseley and Coleman. (Neither did a thing in the pre-season) Surprisingly tough choices here. Coleman and Moseley could both be gone.
Without knowing how injured Coleman and Mosley are I will assume both are healthy enough. Ivey is new but he might be here. The last spot will go to Geathers and possibly a + 1 for either Coleman or Mosley or Geathers.
LB: (9) Roth, Fujita, Gocong, Benard, Trusnic, Costanza all make the team. Costanza is a special teams beast, and Trusnic could well be a starter in a year. Benard should start this year. Probably 3 more spots to fill. Jackson gets one if he can go. Barton probably gets one because they rested him tonight. I think that Maiva gets the final spot. Bowens may get a reprieve, or may make the team outright if Jackson winds up out for the year.
My last three? Let me pick names out of a hat. Bowens was playing to get himself into shape according to Mangini. Barton did get rested so you assumed he was safe. DQ is in.Maivia is still learning, T Brown disappeared?? and Veikune sucks but was a 2nd round pick last year.
I guess my three will be DQ, (a lock) Barton and Veikune. Veikune is not good but I don't know if they want to give up on a second round pick after only one season. Personally I would rather keep Maiva and brown.
CB: (5) Wow .... we actually have some depth at CB. Brown, Wright, Haden, and McDonald are shoe-ins.Tough choice between Chancellor (who I think played well) Francies, and D.Smith.
S: (5) Ward, of course. Adams, and Elam make it. I think that Asante helped himself tonight. Ventrone is solid depth and a quality special teamer.
Four safeties Adams, Elam, Ward Ventrone. I would rather keep him and Asante but that isn't realistic. I like Asante but I gotta try for a surprise cut.
Pontbriand, Dawson, and Hodges round things out.
That's 53 ... and that's what we're allowed. That's also who I see us going into the seaosn with.
Cuts:
Sorenson (2 of 3 between) Francies, D.Smith, Chancellor (Quite probably 2 to PS) Coleman Ivey Moseley Sanford S. Miller (PS) Bowens Veikune Brown Bender Fanaika Murray Pashos Reinders (PS) Ratliff Jennings Gamble Royal Engram Mitchell (PS)
That's the way I see it.
So let it be written, so let it be done. (Except that I would lose Barton and keep Bowens if I was making the decisions)

I have a feeling that Ratliff will be picked up by Tampa Bay before the season starts.
Also, with Hardesty going on IR, that leaves room for Bowens. I still don't think they'll keep Jennings but rather keep another LB.

I don't think Bowens has been in danger of being cut this whole time. But I agree, I think we keep another LB or DL instead of Jennings.

Okay,..... My final 53 man roster
QB (3) Jake Delhomme Seneca Wallace Colt McCoy Brett Ratliff
RB (3) Jerome Harrison Payton Hillis James Davis Chris Jennings
FB (1) Lawrence Vickers
TE (3) Ben Watson Even Moore Robert Royal Alex Smith
OL (8) Joe Thomas Eric Steinbach Alex Mack Shawn Lauvao Floyd(pork chop)Womack Tony Pashos Billy Yates Scott Kooistra John St. Clair
WR (6) Mohamed Massaquoi Brian Robiskie Chansi Stuckey Joshua Cribbs Bobby Engram Carlton Mitchell
K (1) Phil Dawson
LS (1) Ryan Pontbaind
DL (7) Ahtyba Rubin Robaire Smith Brian Schaefering Shaun Rogers ?/ Ivory Kenyon Coleman Mosley (PUP) Derreck Robinson Geathers Brian Sanford
LB (9) Matt Roth Scott Fujita Chris Gocong D'Qwell Jackson Marcus Benard Jason Trusnik Blake Costanzo Kaluka Maiava David Bowens David Veikune
DB (10) Joe Haden Eric Wright Sheldon Brown TJ Ward Abram Elam Brandon McDonald Larry Asante Coy Francies Ray(Bubba)Ventrone Nick Sorensen
Punter (1) Reggie Hodges
I gave the extra roster spot opened by Hardesty's injury to Mitchell @ WR. This could go any number of ways and those are proposed in orange. I just think the kid has too much speed and talent potential to make it threw waivers, even if he might not contribute early and eventually he could end up on the PS.
Surprises;
Scott Kooistra played every where but Center. Threw TC and after giving way to Reinders @ LT last night, he was soon put back in, because Reinders caught a full ear from Coach Mangini when after Colt was Sacked. He did pick up the inside rusher, but failed to either see or missed the out side blitz'er. I still think he could end up on the PS, but it was clear to me that he is not up to the speed of the game and is no where near where he needs to be. I think Kooistra makes St Clair expendable.
BTW,..... Pashos did start the game @ RT. I think the Coach's felt like both him and Bowens needed the preparation for the season.
Bobby Engram I think that he can really help us this season and also help our young receivers. Maybe he is cut because they might feel he will still be available if needed down the road, but I'm only speculating.
Brian Sanford Could be a surprise. He is one of Heckert's boys and has flashed some ability as a pass rusher, but I think it is between him and Geathers [whom I still think is very raw], but may not clear being waived as DE's are usually a hot commodity in the waiver proses. Sanford was a FA and will most likely give us a better chance at one making it threw waivers and will be nice to develop for next year.
Coy Francies was chosen over Nick Sorensen, because he has the bigger up side. This was a tough call for me as it will be for Heckert and Mangini.
Derreck Robinson gets the nod if Mosley starts the season on the (PUP) same goes for Ivory for Rogers.
After all of this, I just know come Sunday when the cuts are in I will be shaking my head over a cut that I won't like.

Based on what's left ..... my projected cuts .....
DB. (2) Sorenson D. Smith (PS material)
DL. (3) Ivey (I think that he makes the roster if Rogers is PUP's, and is cut if not) S. Miller (PS material) Sanford
LB.(3) T. Brown Veikune Bowens
OL. (3) Murray (PS material) Pashos Fanaika
QB. (1) Ratliff
RB. (1) Jennings
TE. (1) Royal
WR. (1) Mitchell (PS material)
I think we would have kept 4 RB if we were uncertain on Hardesty. With him out, I see us with 3.
I think that Smith wins the 3rd TE job based on being able to also play H-Back/FB really well.
In one of the crappier storylines, Sorenson recovers from injury to be cut. Maybe IR.
I just didn't see enough from T.Brown and Veikune this pre-season. I can'rt see keeping both Bowens and Barton when both could be backups this year. We might keep 1 of these and drop a LB or DL instead.
