http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d81...le=HP_headlinesBEREA, Ohio -- Cleveland Browns starting cornerback Eric Wright has injured his right leg during practice. Wright got hurt during 7-on-7 drills about halfway through the Browns' morning workout Tuesday. He was attended to on the sideline by trainers, who put an ice wrap on Wright's leg. He limped to the team's training facility for further treatment. Wright's injury appeared to be to his hamstring. A second-round pick in 2007, Wright had four interceptions last season. If he is out for any extended period, rookie Joe Haden would likely take his spot. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d819a4b07/article/browns-lb-benard-carted-off-field-with-injuryCleveland Browns linebacker Marcus Benard was injured during Tuesday morning's practice and taken off the field on a cart, according to TheOBR.com's Twitter feed. The specifics of the injury are undetermined. Barnard sustained the injury after colliding with another player. The second-year veteran out of Jackson State came on strong for the Browns late last season, posting 3.5 sacks -- his season total -- during the Browns' four-game winning streak to end the season.

That sucks. Wright's seems more minor than Benard's. If it's just a tweaked hammy, I can see him being ready in a couple weeks. Hopefully Benard being taken out on a cart was just precautionary.

Wright missing a couple weeks won't hinder him too badly. On the other side of things, this forces Haden to step it up NOW as he takes Wright's spot in the starting lineup untill EW gets healthy...gotta be good for his development, no?
Hope Bernards injury is not too serious...he looked good at the end of the season...

Ya, this will give Haden a chance to step up if Wright is out for a while. Gonna have to wait and see how it plays out, probably see Haden starting on Saturday for sure though.

Every time we get some depth, we lose it to injuries before we ever get to enjoy it.

Well, before we start heading for the nearest bridge, let's wait to see how severe the injuries are.

At least this year, we're actually accumulating some depth.
Face it, Prp... with our history of one-deep rosters at almost EVERY position, we have to take the little improvements where we can get them....
it is a bummer, tho. Wouldn't it be nice to field a full roster of starters on opening day for once?

As long as these injuries are not season ending we'll be fine. The beauty of having quality depth is that these guys can take the necessary time needed to get healthy.

Oh well, more reps with the first team D for Haden. Not a bad thing in my book as it will also allow the other corners on the bubble more playing time to show what they got. Some need to step it up, namely a corner taken late in the draft last year that has shown nothing but an angry streak at being hazed. Oh wait, forgot to get in my "Here we go again." "We are screwed." "We are cursed." "We will never win in Cleveland."

So the Browns field a full roster of starters how often?
About 1 game a year, maybe less, I can remember 1 game a loss to the eagles, I remember a largly injury free 2007 season but I bet there were a couple injuries for every game.
When Wright plays well the Browns win.
I completely blame Mangini for this, ( it is not waranted probably) , my tendency is to blame Mangini for all bad news.
Hopefully these are not season ending or career ending injuries.
They should just stop all practicing right now.
Everybody gets injured in August Every single year. There was one play of a Chicago pre-season game with 3 injuries to Browns players, including the quarterback.
I'm really hating pre-season games this year. The whole IDEA of pre season seems STUPID this year especially because you can't count on it to see how a player will do in real football anymore.
The whole idea of nobody is playing their starters, or they are only playing for one series, or you can't judge the outcome because most of the scoring comes in the 2nd halves every year.
25 Years ago, a player could make a roster or gain a starters spot by how well they played in pre-season. Today this doesn't happen, so pre season games are pointless. The next 4 games are so scripted, the amount of time the 1st teamers receive is so limited and the stupid overimportance they try to hype on the 3rd game make the whole process a Burden!
If they aren't going to use the preseason games to evaluate the roster and identify the pluses and minuses of the team; which I argue they are not, Then Don't Play Them!
August is one of the worst times of the year.
Pre season games don't mean anything! I'm going to try and not even watch.
injuries injuries! injuries!!! Injuries only happen to the starters? I only notice them when they do?
Somebody get Cribbs and Harrison off the field for a week. ?
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Well that about blows.
Hopefully Wright's right leg injury IS just a tweeked hammy, that doesn't turn into one of those lingering pulled hammies. If he walked off the field, then it probably wasn't too serious.
Bernard on the other hand was carted off. Without any specifics of what part of his body "collided" with his teammate, we have no idea what's wrong.

Wright with an injury? I attended practice this morning and when after a drill Wright came over and started stretching his hammy right in front of me, I didn't think too much of it. This could have when he had gotten his injury, but I;m not entirely sure about it. He layed down on his back did a little stretching and went back on the field until the end of practice, unlike benard, who was limping off the field.
Find what you love and let it kill you.

I'm less optimistic than you guys on Wright's hammy. These things seem to linger once they happen. It's the kind of injury where people say "well, it's just a hamstring I/you can play." Sure, they're on the field, but are they performing as well as they would be otherwise? Are they breaking up a pass instead of intercepting it? Are they making a tackle instead of breaking up a pass? Do they not drop as deep in their zone or leave the man they're on sooner? Hopefully you guys are right as EW24 (now EW21) is one of my favorite Browns, but I don't think this is "no problem."

Having tweaked my hamstring a few years ago, I remember how long it took for me to get over it.
That being said, I was nowhere near as in shape as these guys are and I had none of the resources available to help speed up recovery.
I don't consider this to be "no problem", but, as injuries come, it's something that can heal somewhat quickly and also fully. As long as he's not rushed back into it, which I don't think he will be. We've got more than a month until the regular season starts, so that should be more than enough time to get to 100%.

You kinda stole my thunder, in a way its a blessing that this happened in the preseason ( and EARLY) and not the regular season. This is the type of injury that mainly just takes time to heal. He would not get that chance in the regular season.
He'll be back for the season and we will be stronger for it as it means Haden gets that much more practice with the 1's.

hamstrings have a tendency to last all year. It's really easy to reinjure them. I think we kind of have to assume Wright is out for the year.

Seriously? I mean, seriously??
First, we don't know the severity of the injury. Yeah, he could be out for the year, but he could also be ready to go for Saturday. It's likely something in between.
I will be unbelievably stupefied if we lost him for the year because of this injury.

Out for the year? Absolutely not, unless it is an actual tear of the muscle.
Will he likely be slowed and hampered by it at times throughout the entire season? Almost certainly, unless it gets some serious rest and healing time right now - and even then it is still likely that it's going to be problematic.
Hopefully, it is merely a very minor strain and giving it a few days of rest and doing lots and lots of stretching and hydrating every day will take care of it.

Hopefully the browns just let him rest this and heal it properly- especially if it is torn. I still remember when Northcutt tore his, he was week to week to week. Not going to bother looking it up, but i think he missed 6 weeks only to come back too early and tweak it again. He was useless that season.

I didn't mean I assume he is going on IR. I mean, we should assume we have to go forward without him, becuase we may very well be without him for an extended time and/or if we do have it may not be at 100%.
Assume we don't have him so that we can plan for it, not because it's likely.

Well, given the heat and humidity today, I'm going to bet that it was a light strain or slight cramping related to dehydrating... a few days rest, lots of hydration and lots of easy stretching should get him back on track fairly quickly.

Just clicking the latest from the Plain Dealer,, They are saying that of the injuries, Wright appears the most serious,, Quote:
Cleveland Browns injuries come in threes at morning session
BEREA -- Observations, opinions and some facts on the Browns morning practice ...
48 0 Share * Three defensive players left the practice with different degrees of injuries. The most serious appeared to be a hamstring or thigh injury to cornerback Eric Wright. It's not a leap to suspect the injury would push Joe Haden into the starting spot in the first preseason game in Green Bay on Saturday. Also, defensive lineman Brian Schaefering and linebacker Marcus Benard left the field under their own power and then were carted to the building (it's quite a walk from the field they were on). No updates from the club.
* Right tackle Tony Pashos, who missed the first few days of camp during a bout of food poisoning, has missed the last two days with an apparent shoulder injury. He missed 11 games last season in San Francisco with a shoulder injury. No update from the club.
* Haden apologized to coach Eric Mangini for Tweeting that a player was fined $1,760 for having his cellphone go off in a meeting. That followed Brandon McDonald's infamous Tweet about Terrell Owens. All of which has Mangini and his bosses pondering a club social media policy. Great line from Mangini: "I think our social media policy is a work in progress. We'll iron it out. Sometimes with ironing you have to apply a little steam."
* Safety T.J. Ward intercepted a Jake Delhomme pass intended for Benjamin Watson. Watson also had two drops and was not happy with them.
* Just a fantastic catch by Josh Cribbs in the right corner of the end zone on a perfect pass from Seneca Wallace. Cribbs caught it over his right shoulder with one hand as he was tumbling to the ground. Gerard Lawson's coverage was pretty good on the play.
* The Monday practice was so bad -- Mangini called parts of it "horrendous" -- that the coach challenged his team to put two good ones together on Tuesday. It appeared that the morning session qualified as good. Mangini wants to see his players put bad plays, bad days, behind them, so the evening session will be a test.
Gotta love Manginis sense of humor ont on the Social Media thing...LOL

I Agree that heat is most likely a contributing factor. So long as there were no torn muscles, that said I have had the misfortune of a lingering hammy and it can take some time to heal. Rest is the best thing for this injury.
Let's just hope that both will be fine and not have to go on the IR for the season. Until we have verification from the team I guess all we can do is speculate.
I hope by the 11:00 o'clock news we will have some better news to go on.

http://blogs.cantonrep.com/freshbrownies/that-total-airhead-and-scenes-from-the-late-show/That total airhead … D’Qwell Jackson hurt? Aug 10th, 2010 @ 6:40 pm by Steve Doerschuk A few thoughts between evening practice episodes … • LB D’Qwell Jackson wasn’t limping when he left practice and walked to the locker room. But he did leave practice. • Rookie safety C.J. Ward’s cell phone rang during a meeting. Later, rookie Joe Haden put up a Tweet along the lines of, uh oh, somebody did a no-no. Eric Mangini no doubt is rolling his eyes (he said a few politically correct things), but he’s better hope these guys have their feet on the ground. He really needs them. • Ward strikes me as more down-to-earth, more the Midwest type, than Haden. Haden seems very intelligent, but he’s been fed a lot of praise in a career that included the brightest lights of college football. You know everybody is hoping he doesn’t become a Braylon. That guy seemed fairly smart, too, and I think one or two of us are now suspecting both of his feet are planted nowhere close to even Mars. • Fans filed into the evening practice as Pat Benetar’s “Hit Me Wikth Your Best Shot” blared over the speaker system. • Both of rookie Clifton Geathers’ long legs are in light-weight braces. Geathers not only is huge, at 6-foot-7, but he seems full of natural strength. In the stadium scrimmage Saturday, Joshua Cribbs took a direct snap, ran, and bounced backward after running into Geathers. • Right tackle Tony Pashos walked out for the second practice laughing about something with Eric Mangini. Pashos hasn’t practiced much, and they won’t really give us clues as to why. Here’s probably why: He’s getting older and is coming off an injury. • Coye Francies needs a strong camp to win a roster spot at cornerback, but he’s coming off an injury and hasn’t practice. Francies has been sprinting at a pace that looks like full bore. He seems frisky just now, hopping around in agility drills. No word on when he’ll practice. At this point, he’s probably practicing for the practice squad, so to speak. • Brandon McDonald is on the exercise bike, looking pretty relaxed as he recovers from an apparently minor ankle sprain. • Early in the evening practice, working with the “twos” in 11 on 11s, Seneca Wallace went deep over the middle to Joshua Cribbs, who caught the ball in the end zone when he leaped higher than safety Mike Adams. • I can spell Krzyzewski with my eyes closed, but … sorry if I missed on Benetar. Is it Benatar? • Just now, Josh Cribbs just got Joe Haden turned around and adjusted for a nice sideline catch. Seneca Wallace was on the trigger. • I can’t find hamstring suspect Eric Wright anywhere in the evening practice crowd. The starting corners for this session are Joe Haden and Sheldon Brown. Haden is struggling a bit. This is one of those practices that will test how well he keeps the bad plays from living inside his head. It won’t be a simple thing. I mean, if you were in line to make $650,000 a game, you’d want to seem worth it, if possible.

I'm beginning to wonder if they confused Benard for Jackson since Benard wears Jackson's old number (58).

Oh man .. this would be horrible for Jackson if it really is another torn pec muscle. http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2010/08/cleveland_browns_linebacker_dq_2.htmlCleveland Browns' linebacker D'Qwell Jackson suffers another pectoral injury, source said Published: Tuesday, August 10, 2010, 8:12 PM Updated: Tuesday, August 10, 2010, 9:20 PM Updated 9:15 p.m. CLEVELAND -- Browns linebacker D'Qwell Jackson, who is making a comeback this preseason from a torn pectoral muscle, may have suffered another pectoral injury in practice today, a source told The Plain Dealer. The extent of the injury is unknown, but it's not the surgically-repaired pectoral, the source said. Jackson went in to be examined by the doctor at about 8 p.m. and most likely undwerwent and MRI. Jackson, who had been starting all camp at inside linebacker, walked off the field midway through practice very slowly and with his head down. He returned later in the session with a towel around his neck and looking sad. One-by-one, players came up to express their concern. At one point, it looked like he pointed to his chest. He watched the final 15 minutes of practice from the sidelines, still looking down. Close friends such as Mike Adams talked to him, and he walked off the field with defensive coordinator Rob Ryan. Another teammate consoled him just before he walked into the locker room.

Actually, on the PD video with Mary Kay and Tony Grossi they said that Pashos has food poisonign at the start of camp, and now has a shoulder issue.
