Dunno.
It's simple Google search results.
I'm sure that there are some sites that have shut down over the past 10 years.

Just because en employee or shareholder of a company, who makes his money though ownership of a company, is not allowed to donate the money he makes to who he wants?
Corporations have voters to, a person with ownership in a coporation makes his money from the coporation, is now not allowed to donate?
First, I don't like the idea that corporations (or other large collectives) have unlimited capacity to offer donations, with no law in place yet to check their donations or force disclosure. Others in this thread have covered this well, so I will just say I agree with them.
Second, if you are going to say that Target is simply executing it's right by donating to a candidate, then why can't gay rights activists protest this donation, which is going to a candidate that will be against one of the biggest things they are fighting for? Aren't they just exercising their right to assembly/free speech as well as long as it doesn't turn violent?
Wouldn't you actually hope that this is how citizens would behave? If a company is backing someone who people feel has the wrong ideals, or is behaving in some other unacceptable way (to them), shouldn't they boycott/protest the company? JMO, but I wish more people would behave in this manner.

I agree that people have the right to protest any action that any person or company takes.
However, given that many states have consistently voted against gay marriage .... they might have the exact opposite effect that they want by letting people know that Target is supporting a candidate that has similar views.
It is interesting that many states have put the issue to the voters, for right or for wrong ..... yet Minnesota has tried no less than 5 or 6 time to push legislation through instead of putting it to a vote.
Now .... is his "anti gay" stance that he personally does not agree with gay marriage and he wants it put to a vote of the citizens .... or is it something else? I know that he has supported a state amendment ... which would require a vote of the people. I am having trouble finding my way through tons of propaganda.

Of course you feel this way. You didn't like Bush so you didn't bother to follow it closely.

Honestly Clem, what does all that mean?
There are many of us osterasized for what we are. It doesn't mean that we are beyond criticism, or that our ideas or what we stand for are any more credible than the next.
Every leader is hit hard by the other side and the nastiness is ignored by the side that backs the other side. It is an endless hypocricy.
Aw, heck, Jules... I was just havin' some fun. Truth be told, I only expected OoooRah to respond. But since you got all in my grille, I guess I owe YOU an explanation.
I just did a flip-flop on OoooRah's assertion that millionaires are common on Capitol Hill. Obama wrote his books (and got himself wealthy) after he won a seat, and I was outlining a strategy for getting my millions BEFORE I got a seat.
It was all tongue-in-cheek speculation... for a chuckle. But you had to get all pissy and serious about it, so here we are.
I used Obama's 2 books as my framework, and spun out an over-the-top scenario in which I get myself wealthy BEFORE getting myself famous in Washington. Nothing more. Hell, in some ways I was making fun of the entire Obamaphenomenon that was manufactured by the media.
Geez... as many times as I've seen you bash the Prez for being average (or even below), I'd think you'd have appreciated my satire. But instead, you cherry-picked a couple details out of the entire narrative, and used it to preach to me about how others have been persecuted and how Obama's not immune... two points that are patently obvious to me and just about everyone else.
Or did you really think I was that obtuse?
Sheesh. Guess I'll work on my humorous delivery a little more before I try to post some satire here in the tailgate. A sh*tstorm was never my intention... not even from the start.
So... does my explanation work for ya?

Man I'm confused. I couldn't really figure out what you were doing in your post. That is quite surprising since you are on of the most articulate posters on here. I guess the humor was over my head. As far as Jules getting pissy with you...Can't understand that one either. When Jules gets pissy there is no mistaking it. That wasn't even close to pissy.Hell, by her standards that was down right sweet.

After that, can the White House be far behind?
Once I've accomplished that, I can enjoy:
1. the adulation of some 2. the scorn of most 3. my name being associated with words like Socialist, Marxist, Communist, Muslim, The King, Anti-American, 'Clembummah', 'Osama Bin Clemdawg' or maybe even Beelzebub 4. the worst job in the world, with pay that doesn't come close to compensating one for all the hassles that come with the job duties.
I vote for Clembummah.
But I have to disagree on the worst pay.. it might be the worst job but the pay is magnificent. Sure you get about $400K while in office which puts you on par with a vice president at a major corporation.. but Obama will be what, 52 at the next election, so even if he loses, he can retire and make MILLIONS off of the 4 years he served as President. He will write some books do the speaking tour make millions and live with a wonderful pension and great health insurance until he dies, which could easily be 30 years.. so take all of the money he will get for the next 30 years and divide it by the 4 years he served as President.. I think the job pays pretty well.

Not to take into account all of the travel, security, living accomodations, waiting staff, etc. etc. that is not included in the salary....It would be interesting to find a rundown of the cost to the American public to have a "President."

No, only that the sitting pres. is going to get more hits by virtue of being current. It wouldn't matter what political spectrum the pres. leaned to...I would expect more hits on a sitting pres. than a former pres. Even if that pres. turned out to be the greatest of all time following the worst of all time.(Which we do not have in this situation on either count)

I meant all the hate that was spewed at him. It was very brutal and lasted for 8 years. Even during the aftermath of 911 some real nasty things were being said about him. This is during a time where just about everyone rallied behind him.

I was raised by Very Good People to believe in fairness... and I totally dropped the ball in this thread.
I jumped down another poster's throat over a post that I made when it wasn't warranted... and for that, I owe the entire DT community a public apology.
In my world, anyone who missteps in public deserves nothing less than to offer his apologies in the same public forum that witnessed his transgression... which is why I'm here tonight.
Another poster asked me to clarify the meaning of my original post- which was at best, ambiguous. I then used the public forums to not only clarify that point, but to also attack her/him in a manner that (s)he didn't deserve. For that, I offer my sincere apologies... not only to her/him, but to all of you Dawgs- who deserve much better from me.
To say the least, I've been very embarrassed by my retort.
I value my membership in this select community of Browns fans... and as such, I owe each and every one of you the very best I can offer.... every time I post my thoughts. This was definitely not one of those times.
Last weekend, I lost sight of those standards... and I attacked a good person who didn't deserve the treatment I handed out.
In all the years that I've been a DawgTalker, I've always tried to respect anothers' point of view. Last weekend, I forgot that standard... and said some things that were totally beneath me, and beneath what you all deserve from me. And noone deserves my apology more than the poster whom I attacked in this thread.
For that, you all have my sincerest apologies.
My sense of rightness compels me to make this public admission... in the forum that saw my transgression in the first place. I only hope that you fellow Dawgs will grant me some grace this time... because it will never happen again.
Please don't respond to this post in the public forum... I've already taken up enough of your time here. I only wanted to make things right- and to get this weight off my chest.
Please carry on with the thread.... it's a worthwhile discussion.
all my best to all of you, Clemdawg

Well, (s)he has a reputation for being a bit of an ass from time to time, so the fact you suspected that at a time when (s)he actually wasn't, probably gives you a break on this one. I got that hug waiting for you.

I could say it was warranted. With his decision that I have to pay taxes on the portion of health care that my company willingly provides for me, yeah, I have a big problem with that. Comrade Obama has personally put his stamp on America, and in the end, people like me, middle class america, will be gone. Liberalism has left the building, and we have damn near gone to communism.

Has anyone looked into why Target donated to this one candidate. Is it because he doesn't believe in gay rights or whatever, or is it because his tax plans are going to help the corporation the most. If we go through every corporations donations, I'm about 99% positive you could find any donation went to a candidate that has something that you disagree with. People really need to get over the "They wronged me, I'm going to boycott" crap. If it could be proven that Target gave the money because they don't whatever gays and gays rights, then fine boycott. Otherwise, deal.
