and I stopped reading here. Perhaps you don't remember Jerome Harrison running for the most rushing yards in a single game in Cleveland Browns history just a few short months ago? who was the opponent for that game?

Or 2006 in Anderson's breakout game? LOL. We're 2-1 our last three games vs. KC and they own us?

Kind of hard to bust when everyone thinks you should be cut. I mean, can the expectations get any lower than that?

He was a high draft pick so yes if he is indeed cut, one could then say that he was a bust

I mean how many players left on the roster could meet the criteria of a bust?
High draft picks and high profile FA's.
Imo, know one else should be considered in the bust category, because they were not drafted with the thought that they would be a great player or else they would have been drafted higher.

well, KC for starters as mentioned above. after that well there's umm...

New Orleans? helps we only play them once every 4 years and we beat them our first year back of course.

i'm sure there's a couple more. there's gotta be, right?

We've come out fairly well when we've played Buffalo in recent memory. Every other team that I would consider "crappy" we have been up and down with.

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I like your sig but it's looking more and more like it might be Hillis and Vickers..

BOOM = Eric Wright. EW has always been pretty good but the fact that he's got more talent around him and he's in a contract year, I expect him to step up his game considerably......maybe even to probowl status.

BUST = Fujita. I don't mean he's going to suck, but he was one of our "big" FA signings this year and I think the expectations we'll have for him are way too lofty. Unfortunately, I think we'll be more disappointed than not.

I like the Wright pick as a boom, my only problem with your pro-bowl consideration is that the Browns better find a pass rush because he can only cover for so long and if he's getting beaten, even if its after 7 seconds, he's not going to make the pro-bowl..

We had a pass rush last year, what has changed to make it worse?

haha good point. I've learned to adapt my sig quite a bit over the past few years. It's been a chore updating it with the revolving door of the offense.

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I don't think we did have a very consistent pass rush last year. I think we managed a decent sack count which was inflated by later games but on a consistent basis I remember qbs standing patting the ball more than I remember them running for their lives...

I think we're getting more pressure on the QB than we're giving ourselves credit for, it's the lack of sacks that's really clouding that whole issue.

So far we've given up 180 pass yds/g at a 5.7 avg per play, that's top 10 in both categories.

My LB based Boom/Bust:

Boom: Gocong
His abilities fit the 3-4 scheme well in several areas
(hasn't shown alot here yet, but he will)

Bust: DQ
His abilities barely fits the scheme in the 1 position he CAN play in the 3-4
(would really like to see the FO move him to a team that can use DQ & get some value in return; he's valueable to the right team)

Yes we run the 3-4. But teams use three or more WR's 49.2% of the time (thank you Sports Illustrated). Meaning we will be in nickel and dime a lot. And we only have one linebacker who can consistently cover. D'Qwell Jackson.

He may not fit our defense perfectly, but he is still a useful player.

So what do we think at this point? Is Hillis a boom or what?

I loved the trade from day 1 and always felt he would be a good player for us, but never expected this.

My thoughts exactly... I figured Hillis could start if needed to, but really saw him as our powerback when we needed short yardage.

This has turned out to be a GREAT trade.

with all the bust picks on Harrison, maybe his expectations aren't so high this year

i think everyone is tending to get a little worried about his recent "casualness" with the football in his hands. 3 fumbles in 2 games was it?

Also, if you haven't noticed, Harrison seems to be turning into Jamal Lewis "lite" in the way that he has begun to do a lot of stutter-stepping/tip-toeing at the LOS. I saw him do it a number of times-- trying to outsmart and juke the D to the point where he's nearly standing still and they're all over him.

You would think he'd be looking at Hillis and thinking "I'm about to lose my job to this guy. Maybe I should go back to running with the damn ball instead of trying to cut 3 times before getting to the hole."

Booms: Hillis, Ward
Busts: Mo Mass, Robo, Harrison

Btw, I have to LOL that someone picked Watson as a "bust" earlier. You know, one of the only guys we have who can get separation and who has caught nearly all of the receiving TDs so far.

I was ecstatic when I saw that we had traded for him. As a Bronco, he ran all over the Browns and a couple other teams during his limited exposure. I knew exactly what we were getting and could only scratch my head as to why Denver would let go a bruiser of a back for a limp-wristed, talentless wuss of a QB (with perfect hair)! ha ha...

I agree with your Booms/Busts for the first 1/4 of the season.

I was the guy who picked Watson as a bust candidate for the year, so let's see what I said and see if I was way off base.

Quote:

Bust - Ben Watson

I like him allright, but he's been getting people's expectations high and not delivering his whole career. I see a guy who isn't the greatest blocker and isn't the greatest receiver but who is just good enough to do a little of both. I think Moore ends up being our primary pass catching TE and ends up with better numbers at year end.

Watson 18rec 188yards 1TD
Moore 4rec 111yards 1TD

also, of note, Watson is leading the Browns in all 3 categories. so yeah, I definitely was way off base on that one. and am happy that I was.
