I hope Ohio State isn't overlooking Miami. - This is going to be a tough game for Ohio State to win. Miami has tons of speed at lb, and in their secondary. Terrelle Pryor has to be on the money.
Penn State-Alabama. - Ingram is out for Bama, but this is the worst Penn State team in recent memory. After all is said and done, I think Penn State keeps it close and may pull out an upset. - Ending all debate as to which is the best conference in the country.
In case any of you missed it, Ole Miss lost to a subdivision team last week.

Just saw that OSU is a 9.5 point favorite, seems way high to me.

Michigan opened at +5, so if it's down to 3, it's already shifted 2 points. That's a lot for only a few days of betting. I didn't really understand the line initially but who knows. Maybe ND eeks out a win but I think their defense is going to have trouble slowing UM's offense down.
OSU at -9.5 sounds about right to me. More times than not, I would think OSU could win by 2 scores against (IMO) an overvalued Miami team. It's a hair higher than I would like it if I were betting but as long as it stays under 10, it's probably a pretty reasonable line.

the only thing i could think of is they figured notre dame into the public favorite scenario. but i really don't think people are buying them this year, and i think michigan will be a 2 point favorite by kickoff.
much like the boise state line. opened up as 3 point favorites and were 2 point dogs at kickoff.

My favorite player so far this season... Akeem Ayers from UCLA. Redshirt junior, 6-4, 255 pounds, outside linebacker. He's currently 18th on Mel Kiper's board. I know that doesn't mean much but I don't want to dive into the other draft sites right now.

OSU edges out Miami in a close one.. maybe on a late bogus pass interference call.. Alabama beats PSU comfortably but not a blow out... And Florida State goes into Norman and beats Oklahoma..... And in the "Who Cares Game of the Week".. Notre Dame beats Michigan...

No way Ohio State is over looking Miami. Easily one of the hardest games they will have this year. They just need to play like they know they can and they will top Miami.
I will be pleasently surprised if Penn State takes down Alabama, send a message that the Big 10 is a top conference.
Michigan will beat ND.

i'm not worried about the bucks overlooking this game, i am worried about them winning this game and overlooking someone down the road. winning saturday does nothing. the big ten is gonna be tough this year, and not just iowa and wisconsin.

Curious as to how it would favor Miami.
The rain would slow down the game, and turn it into a ball control, defensive minded game.
Not what Miami wants.

i don't think the rain will really change much.
if anything it might help ohio state stay a little more commited to the run.

I don't know that it favors either team.. Miami is bigger than OSU at every OL position, in some cases by 15-20 pounds... OSU in the defensive front 7 is a little bigger but not by much... both teams have athletic QBs but the both pass first run second... both of their tailbacks are in the same 200-215 range for the starters and the backups...
This is not the typical huge lumbering midwest team verses the smaller and quicker southern team... Miami's OL goes 312, 323, 295, 315, 330 across and OSUs goes 300, 297, 320, 313, 293...
In the end I think this game comes down to Jacory Harris and Terrell Pryor and which makes the most plays and which ones makes the most mistakes... and if rain is an issue, that is where it will have the most effect...
JMHO.

I would think rain would help Miami. The biggest advantage the Bucks have is that Pryor can take a broken down play and turn it into a big gainer on the ground. Put him on a slick field and that could go away.
There's a reason Tress wants the future Big10 champ game in a dome afterall. He has built his teams on speed.

I would think that favors the QB... the 220 lb nimble guy that knows where he's going has an advantage over the 280 lb guy that doesn't know where he's going and that advantage is even bigger on a slick field..

Depends on how slick the field though. Take the PSU v. LSU game in Orlando last year (capital one bowl?). If you tried to make a cut, then you would be picking sod out of your facemask. The only option was straight line running.

Well that game was a damn monsoon.. I was figuring just a midwest shower on an otherwise good field, not anything like that.

I saw an interesting stat this morning on ESPN.
Ohio State is 10-0 when Brandon Saine rushes for more than 50 yards.

That's because Brandon Saine only gets enough touches to get 50 yards when you guys are blowing someone out

I hate those rushing stats where they go "well when they rush more than 100 yards they are undefeated.." or when they rush him more than 20 times they win
Well hell did u ever think that they were rushing the ball because they were UP and were trying to run out the clock?

Good choice,..... Akeem Ayer's has been a very productive player if he is not sacking the QB or making a tackle for loss then he is causing a fumble. You know that there are a lot of 3-4 Teams licking their chops over him.

Wow, epic choke job by Marshall tonight. Up 21-6 midway through the 4th and they lose 24-21 in overtime.

i called it when they didnt go for it on 4th and 1 at the wv 41 yard line. You are 0-9 against wv, and you punt the ball to a team you just gave up a 94 yard drive to

I didn't realize this ... but Penn State opened up with Youngstown State ...... and then plays Alabama.
That's quite a step up in level of competition. lol
My Penguins played Penn State tough, even though they were outmatched at damn near every position. The Penguins QB went 21-25 for 189 yards and 2 TDs. (NO INT)
Penn State could get pounded as badly in this game as they beat YSU.

Boy this game went from a halftime "Man, South Florida could win this thing" .... to .... "Yeah, maybe not" in a hurry ....

Maybe they are finally waking up.
Tebow and Spikes leaving left some major leadership voids that had/have to be filled.
Sometimes that takes time.
They turned it up late in the 2nd qtr and kept it on in the 2nd half.
And I know....South Florida.....but South Florida is a pretty good team. Add in the Florida connection...trying to exert their presence statewide, and this wasn't a gimme game by any means.
The problem isn't talent or coaching....it has been execution.
I'd like to roll people by 40 every week, but it doesn't always happen that way.
Now we start the SEC grind....if we keep getting better making the plays, I like our chances as much as anyones.
We'll see how it plays out.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong
