As many of you know my family has been hit very hard over the last 2 years. I thought mom had won her battle with cancer but today she was diagnosed with metastatic cancer of the brain.

I had noticed she had been forgetful for the last couple of days so I talked her into going to the emergency room. They did a ct scan and sent us straight on for a radiation treatment. This has me scared.

I havent gotten over the loss of dannielle and honestly I just aint sure how we are gonna be able to deal with this. I am the strong one in the family, the one everyone looks to but damn. i just feel so overwhelmed and helpless.

Mom had non hodgkins lymphoma before and she lost her hair from the treatment but her cancer responded well to the treatment. I just dont know what to expect other than what I am seeing my aunt go through she has lung cancer and it spread to her brain and she didnt respond at all to the radiation but her tumor apparently had gone untreated for quiet awhile.

The tumors mom has I guess is like her lymphoma in that it grew rapidly. I dont know. Anyway after danni passed I dont have anyone to talk to so I appreciate your patience and please pray for my mom.

I was always the strong one in my family too. I had to swallow a lot while others grieved. The best thing I did was allow myself to let my emotions go after everyone else was taken care of.

Be strong for your family right now but don't forget about yourself.

As others have said, please remember to take care of you too. I too, am the "strong" one in my family and I'm relied upon to take the brunt of the work/care. I find, in those situations, that I have to take a few moments for myself every now and then. Go get a massage, or a pedicure, or just close myself in my bedroom and have a good cry. Whatever is a good outlet for you, take a few moments to do it.

I'm so sorry. My heart and prayers are with you.

Arrange a way to take a day off occasionally. I watched my older brother go thru a near-complete breakdown in a similar situation. We arranged a way to rotate.

My own mother was adamant that she did not want to go thru a second round of chemo. She also made it clear that she desired no extraordinary measures.

Hopefully, you will not have to make that decision, but if it happens it will be very comforting if Everyone is clear on what her wishes are.

It is not your fault. She did a good job.

Just an update

Mom is doing much better. The tumor was infact lymphoma. While waiting for them to wheel her out for the biopsy, the neurosurgeon came in and told us the tumor had shrunk dramatically from the 3 radiation treatments so no biopsy was needed.

They appear very confident that the lymphoma can be treated with a different kind of chemo. She will have to stay 4 days in the hospital while they give it to her and there will be 6 sessions of the chemo one every 3 weeks.

Anyway I appreciate everyones prayers thoughts and good vibes and I just wanted to let everyone know things are indeed looking up.
