Jets' WR Braylon Edwards busted in DWI

By LARRY CELONA

8:26 AM, September 21, 2010

Jets' wide receiver Braylon Edwards was busted on a drunken driving charge early this morning, after cops pulled him over on the West Side and found he had double the legal limit of alcohol in his system, police said.

Edwards, 27, was arrested at 5:15 a.m. and charged with DWI, after cops pulled over his Range Rover at 34th Street and 12th Avenue for having overly-tinted windows. Police said they smelled alcohol and Edwards blew a 0.16 on a Breathalyzer, or double the state's legal limit of 0.08.

A passenger was with Edwards but it doesn't appear they were charged. Edwards is currently in police custody, and will be arraigned later today.

He is nothing but an immature adult that I am glad we do not have to deal with anymore.

In other news, what's the deal with his new "beard"?

The possibility of him harming others aside, this sure does make me smile.

There was a time last season that I thought getting rid of BE might have been a mistake,, I didn't feel that way for very long, but now I know I shouldn't have for even a second....

Wow... Imagine what this clown MIGHT have accomplished if he had dedicated himself to perfecting his craft and wasn't so caught up with being a "star." What a waste.

Post of the season so far! It's too bad we can't get the guys on PTI to say the same thing.

And it's freaking downtown NYC. There are cabs EVERYWHERE! To get a DWI/DUI in a huge city.....wow, you really have to want it bad.

I'm glad you're gone and I hope you get suspended for 4 games you moron.

What's even more of a red flag is that Braylon was the drinking buddy with Stalworth the night he went out and killed a guy while DUI.

Even that close to a tragedy he can't learn his lesson. What a complete failure this guy is.....

I just hope he's not suspended when the Jets come to Cleveland Browns Stadium.

Win or lose, that's gonna be a fun day for Browns fans.

That was my first thought as well.

My second one was that this guy just doesn't get it. No doubt he was out celebrating because he had a decent game. Thinks he's arrived. Thinks he's a player. He owns New York.

He acted like a buffoon in the game as well.

To me, he is the most maddening of all types of people. All the potential in the world and the mind the size of a pea.

After the situation with his best friend Donte Stallworth, for Edwards to put himself in the same type of potential situation screams "MORON!". Thank God no one got hurt by this drunk driver.

Edwards may have been the #1 WR we currently lack ..... but he's a real "#2" type of person.

I wonder if he danced in front of the police officer after blowing over the limit in typical celebration.

This doesn't surprise me one bit. Did anyone see Braylon jumping around on the sidelines like he just won the SB after catching the two point conversion Sunday?

I hope TJ Ward knocks some sense into Braylon. Knowing the Browns luck, Edwards will come in and have 8 receptions for 150 yards and 3 TD's when we play the Jets.

We don't play the Jets until week 10.

Last year he had that incident outside of a nightclub and did not get suspended.

This time .... I bet he gets 6-8 games. 2 incidents in 2 years tends to get rather harsh punishment.

Well, the progression would be a one game suspension, then a four game, etc...

I would be on one game for sure as that incident last year likely counted as his first incident... he may possibly get 4 games, but I would doubt it - I don't think the Commish wants to do that to the local boys.

There does not have to be a progression .... especially with a 2nd incident in less than a year.

I bet he gets a minimum of 4 games, and I would put a little extra on 5-6 games.

My understanding is that last years incident falls under Personal Conduct Policy and this falls under substance abuse. Unless he's had a prior with the Substance Abuse policy, the two can not be bundled together when considering punishment.

Donte Stallworth was suspended under the Personal Conduct and Substance Abuse policies.

I believe that the 2 can be combined in a case like this where it is a violation of the substance abuse policy and also a 2nd arrest.

Repeating criminal behavior can result in a combination ....

O'dell Thurman had a 4 game suspension for a DUI and extended it to the rest of the year under Personal Conduct when he was found guilty.

Did anyone watch the Jets game?

When he scored he taunted the crap out that player. It seemed like he had been practicing that dance for months

He was like a little kid bottled up with emotion.

Then he did it again on a 2-point conversion.

It was then I realized he will never grow up. He's too eager to get attention.
