Jason Campbell has been bench in place of Bruce Gradkowski. I seem to remember one poster pimping him really hard last season. Anyone think he would be a good fit?

I'm waiting for the "He's better than what we have" argument to pop in...

Where has Toad been anyway? He hasn't posted in a couple of weeks.

My eyes have just about healed from having to read his reverse text ....... lol

I think Campbell would have made a better stop gap than Delhomme if we made the move before training camp but it makes no sense now.

I just hope we don't give up a 1st rounder for Kolb now. We need to draft and groom our franchise QB with the #1 overall pick next year. It would make me sick if we ended up with Kolb and Philly ended up with Luck or Mallet.

Don't know how you can say that.. Campbell is healthy and still got replaced by Gradkowski...

I think that kinda says it all...

We got too many square pegs now as it is. Daboll needs some more clutter for a pine-guy.

I find it funny that after a whopping 2 games, that there are multiple threads about finding a new QB. How about giving the guys we have a chance? Thus far, they've been a step up from the shmucks we've had the last few years - maybe, just maybe they'll be decent or even good if we give them a few games on a new team in a new offense.

Not necessarily...

I'm not 100% up to speed on what the Raiders are running, but Al Davis' offenses (I didn't note OAK's OC because well, we all know who runs that show there and Davis is very in tune with what he wants on both the offensive and defensive sides of the football despite how horribly it's worked out of late) tend to include longer drops and really aim to attack vertically in the passing game. Campbell was in a WCO his entire career in Washington. It's schematically a bad fit. Again, their line and receivers outside of TE Zach Miller are a joke. You can dismiss this for just making excuses for the guy if you wish, but let's at least acknowledge that this marriage was probably doomed for divorce based on the logistics of it.

I don't think you can say for certain that Campbell wouldn't be better than Jake. I'd almost call it a wash as far as on-field performance is concerned. Campbell's a renown fumbler and already sacked 6 times in his limited start to the season. If it wouldn't have taken a draft pick to acquire him I wouldn't be surprised if he would've been valued higher than Jake for our stopgap.

Stopgap. Regardless neither would be the answer. But that's the key in understanding it all really.

I can and I did

Of course, the truth is, I've never been high on Campbell anyway... so I might be a bit off...

Didn't Campbell basically get tossed for McNabb ?

I'd rather have brought in McNabb,....he's at least a couple of years (NFL) younger than DelHomme, or am I all wet on that ?

And now he's been replaced by Gradkowski,...?

I think he'd be a good fit. He's a good QB in my opinion, but I'm in the minority. I don't think any decision made by the raiders about a player should be any indication of that player's ability. It's not like McNabb has suddenly made the skins offense that much better. They look the same as they did with campbell.

Yeah he was dumped for McNabb,,

I'm pretty sure that we inquired about McNabb but if memory serves me correctly, the eagles wanted a 1st round pick and more for him at that time.

I don't remember what they actually got for him from the skins. But I don't think it was a first..

yes. McNabb threw for over 400 yards last week, which is why it's funny deathdawg is saying the Washington offense hasn't improved under Shanahan/McNabb.

After two games his QB rating is 93. Last year Campbell's was like, 86 or something. Also, Shanahan and Jim Zorn aren't very comparable.

McNabb's rating for week one: 63.4
15 of 32 for 171, 46.9%

Campbell's last game as a skin:
28 of 42 for 281, 66.7% 2 td, 0 int. rating: 101.4

Not bad, and not even his best last year.

By the way, I'm not saying that Campbell is better than McNabb or anything, just trying to point out that he's not as bad as his reputation seems to be, and that McNabb isn't that much of an improvement with the same cast, even if he is an improvement.

I'd take Campbell over Delhomme and Wallace and McCoy in a heartbeat as our QB for the next 5 years.

No ping here, but obviously one would think Holmgren would have felt the same way, and he's got a lot more info BTS than we do. Holmgren didn't pull this trigger, so it's kinda, eh, I don't really care. I just wanna see Wallace do well and get this Raven win.

Stats can be deceptive and Campbell has been an inconsistent QB since he began. I don't know if he could beat out Wallace for the job, given that Gradkowski is starting over him. I'd rather keep it going with Delhomme once he gets healthy.

True, but Campbell has had a different offense each year he's been in the league. He doesn't throw a lot of turnovers, he completes a high percentage of passes, and he's had great games. He's not peyton manning, but I don't know why everyone is so quick to harp on him.

As for gradowski, I don't give stock to anything the raiders do, number one. Number two, he's been in that offense for two games. Gradowski was in it all last year.

Not that I care for Campbell, but he got benched in Oakland and we all have to consider who calls the shots in Oakland.

We have a two year band-aid in Delhomme till we can draft our franchise QB. Really quite simple. JD was signed to a two year deal for a reason. All you need to do is grasp that one.

Look at MH's history. He finds his QB. His history dictates he won't be using a re-tread that has a history of failure for the long term. I don't blame him.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
