All of a sudden having pecs torn on both sides of the chest is really suspicious.
I wonder if (and I hate to think this) steroids or another PED were involved?

My son is a personal trainer,...TIFWIW,...he thinks it might be a weightlifting issue. I'll stick to that until we get a failed drug test on Jackson.

I know that things can always change, however having known D'Qwell for several years in high school, I can say two things about him: 1) He was one of the most intelligent people at the school and always spoke out against drugs and 2) He was always in the weight room.
To me, the weightlifting issue certainly seems plausible because he was always adamantly against using any form of drugs. Like I said, things could have changed, especially if he was feeling pressured to come back and perform this year, but that just wasn't in his character.

Young OR thinks the NFL does too much Olympic lifting and high rep bench work, saying speed work with bands and chains would prevent tears.

Unfortuneately the two most major causes for pectoral injury are
1. weightlifting (improper chest technique .. whether having too wide of a grip over time, or not uzing a full range of motion and bringing the bar or dumbells all the way to the chest ...)
and 2. Steriods ..
both are almost equally likely

From the day that DQ was drafted, the consensus has been that he is too small to be an effective, protoypical 3-4 linebacker. Hence he has spent a lot of time trying to build on a bodyframe that is not able to carry 250 lbs. He his most effective at 230-235.
Rather han having him play the Donnie Edwards role of the pass defender and accept that he should not be going toe to toe with linemen protecting the QB, the Browns, and perhaps DQ himself have, tried to mold him into something that he is not.
Hence the injuries.
Welcome back, Joe, we missed you!

Id agree with that, and Im not accusing him of roids by any means. However, basically the only 2 ways of that happening .. twice.. in different pecs is either steriods or completely ignoring your full range of motion when training ... guys go to the gym and a lot just want to "look big" but if it isnt functional and sport specific strength and muscle they are putting on ... its very susceptible to injury.

In the world of the NFL, this is as unfortunately believeable as it is unlikely,....interesting earlier post above though, on his high school background and character makeup concerning PED's. I'm gonna go benefit of the doubt here until proven otherwise.
In any case -- a combination of poor technique (?) and/or PED's (?) -- he probably hit his max on upper body development for his weight and height, and so the pecs said "no more" and failed. Bad break for DQ. Of course, when he recovers and winds up in Pittsburgh, he'll be hell on wheels.

I didn't really like the pick when Phil did the trade..what the Browns needed was a bigger LB on the outside who could handle big linemen and get up and stuff the run..Jackson can't do that..he's a pursuit type..not a disrupt type.
